The teacher student ratio is good and they are very willing to work with kids who have learning disabilities and mental health issues in a respectful, nurturing way. This school is located near McNichols and Grand River off the southfield freeway. DC is the complete campus with the parish and elementary/high schools on one campus. With the addition of the new Alumni Athletic field in 2016, the campus is now the total package. My son entered college with 22 college credits due to the advancement placement tests that he had taken. On our second day, our child sustained injuries (by a teacher) during a transition to outdoor play. According to the incident report and findings posted on Michigan's Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) website, a staff member lifted our child by one arm, resulting in a dislocated elbow. When the child fell, they were dragged by the ankle toward the door. This incident was formally documented and substantiated by state regulators. We also encountered issues with transparency and communication. Despite available space in the GSRP program, our application was ignored without explanation. At the same time, the center was actively promoting the program on social media and encouraging others to apply. Classroom ratios were another major concern. In the Infant 2 room, we personally observed up to seven children assigned to one teacher--well above the state-mandated 4:1 ratio. Although this was reported to the state, and temporarily addressed, the issue returned within weeks. We received multiple calls stating our child had a fever as high as 104°F. However, upon immediate arrival, we often found our child active and well. After bringing our own thermometer, we rarely confirmed a fever. This raised concerns about whether these calls were being used to reduce classroom numbers during staffing shortages. We also observed a pattern of retaliation after raising concerns. For example, our child received a write-up for questionable reasons. We witnessed management speaking harshly to both children and staff, at times causing staff members to become visibly upset. In one instance, our child was threatened by another student with violent language. Despite the center's stated zero-tolerance policy, the response was dismissive. We were left feeling that disciplinary standards were not applied consistently. Adding to our concern, we noticed that at least three of the five-star reviews on Google appear to have been written by current or former staff members. This raises questions about the accuracy of the center's overall rating and public image. We stayed longer than we should have, largely because of several wonderful teachers who truly cared about the children. Sadly, even those educators have begun to leave. The center does have potential, but meaningful change is needed--both at the local management level and within district leadership. We would like to return in the future, but only if that change occurs.

Being her first foray into schools, our daughter started off tentative, was just barely potty trained and had never been left alone in a social class environment before. She was also somewhat of a picky eater. She was never in daycare prior to this. On her first day it was an ocean of tears when we left her there (and buckets of tears for the first two whole weeks). But the teachers there - Misses Claire, Heather and Anne - we're always on the ball and have her the attention and distractions she needed. She started to getting used to the whole school thing. Fast forward to the June of the following year. Our daughter has blossomed into a different child. She's good with mist foods now, extremely social with other kids at parties and etc, has learned how to write and paint and color, goes to and from the bathroom all by herself and enjoys every single day at school. The results were nothing short of amazing. And it's a testament to the care and attention the Learning Tree gives all the kids under their care. We highly recommend them as a daycare center and a preschool alternative for your children. The teachers are very knowledgable in early childhood development and create a very loving and friendly environment. There is a drop off line, so parents don't have to get out of the car to drop their kid off at school, which makes drop off super easy. There's a small playground outside that kids play on during the last 30 minutes of class. The co-op aspect is very manageable. Parents volunteer in the classroom about 5 times per year and are assigned one job. The jobs vary but they are not time consuming. For example, the laundry parent would wash a small load of towels once per week and hand them to the teachers in the drop off line. If I could give it 10 stars, I would!!
