St. Martin's Market is more locally known as the world famous rag market and it is a staple of Birmingham cultural life and has been for many years. The range of stalls and traders here is quite simply remarkable. There is vintage clothing, retro clothing, jewellery and even a pet centre and to be perfectly honest that barely scratches the surface. All of these options and at prices which are far more reasonable than the main stream shopping centres. This place is an experience in itself and one which should not be missed on any trip to the Birmingham. Meet the people, grab a bargain and experience all of the wonders of Birmingham's most famous market!

Good deals but less vintage stuff than there used to be.

There are a number of fancy dress stalls too which sells some fabulous masks, I really want to go to a masked ball and wear one.

This was a great place to go at the weekend if I had a few quid for a new kit proct. Maybe my memory messed up on that. I recently heard that the shop was closed as Bob passed away a fw years ago. Very sad. That as well as Jum Davis Models in Marsh Lane Erdington was among my favourite places

In Birmingham, there are few and far between shops that sell such a wide scope as of collectors items, and this dwindling number is more than likely the result of a rise in internet sales in this area; So it's great that a place like Bob's has managed to exist throughout this climate. The store is surprisingly big inside, as appose to the small appearance from the street, and it literally stocks every toy/building hobby imaginable. There are boat building kits, train sets, die cast cars and tanks. Bob's also caters for niche collectors too, and there's a great selection of Star Wars models sold inside, such as star fighter ships. I bought my first scalextric from Bob's, and I used to have great fun playing with it as a young'n. (Writing this really makes me want to retrieve my set from the loft actually) Prices for scalextric cars aren't cheap, and tend to reach around £30 per car. But then again, the models are so detailed and delicate, it's definitely worth paying the cash.

Don't be fooled, this is no 'party' shop as the sign on the outside might have you think but…read moreinstead a shop filled with smoking accessories. You can find paper plates and masks in a small corner but they're largely overshadowed by the sheesha pipes. The first thing to catch my eye was a framed Bob Marley poster. It was one of the legend smoking, and as I continued looking round the theme continued. Want your room to smell like marijuana? Get a hold of a cannabis air freshner! Want an ashtray in the form of a pair of breasts? Or perhaps some 'room odouriser' which is definitely not used out in the clubbing scene? The place reminded me of the shops you get in Amsterdam only minus the novelty cows and real drugs behind the counter. The gin and juice blunt wraps had me dreaming dreams of grandeur involving Snoop Dogg.

This place essentially focuses on smoking paraphernalia which is no doubt of much use to the shady student types of the Selly oak area. It's got sheesha pipes, blunt raps and novelty ash trays, essentially anything a marijuana user could wish for short of the drug itself. This place is certainly bright and has friendly staff and a regular footfall of customers. On the whole a bright addition to Selly Oak but one which has specialised interests shall we say?
