Last month I underwent same day surgery for my shoulder. The folks in the hospital took excellent care of me from reception through the wheelchair exit. The nurses in same day surgery are just amazing. They were so happy, supportive and, most importantly, were able to get an IV in in only one try (and I'm a bad stick!). No one wants to be a patient but if you have to be, go to this hospital. They'll treat you right. read more

Emergency room staff consist of Physician Assistants with no actual Physicians--meaning a real MD--in sight. I don't see how you can pretend that you have the right to practice medicine when you have never been to medical school! The treatment (if you can call it that) was a joke and so were the tests. It was demeaning and took too long to tell me essentially nothing. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere. read more

There's a free car valet service, because there's limited street parking. The reception staff is very helpful and reassuring. You are then escorted to the emergency room where they take your vitals and history. The ER is not a chaotic place, like some hospital ER's. While you are waiting for results, all of the staff tries to make you feel comfortable. The ER is in the Lower Lobby. There's a cafeteria on the first floor take the elevators up there. There are some cold sandwiches and a steam table. Soft drinks are available. read more

They never followed up on anything they said they'd do, they falsified medical records, the nurses literally fought with an 80 y/o pneumonia patient upsetting her greatly and turns out they were wrong, and they exposed her entire breast to a group of interns didn't ask if it was ok didn't apologize just treated her like she doesn't deserve dignity and to top it off the joke of a doctor in charge of her care messed up her discharge medications. we will NEVEEER go back to that hell hole. do not recommend. read more

This hospital should be investigated by the proper authorities. I had written a review about my experience there for 8 days. Two nurses in particular did horrible unimaginable things to me and I still have nightmares. They threatened to harm my family if I told anyone. It was something out of a horror movie. The doctors are awful. I now suffer from severe PTSD after almost 2 years. I will never be the same again. One night I was so terrified I actually tried to escape and one of the sadistic nurses, as soon as she saw me disappeared. Another norse came and told me that I should be careful because my life was in danger. I was given so many drugs that caused me to worsen, I was like a zombie, could not sleep at all because I was afraid, they actually said they would get me out of the hospital secretly to torture and then kill me. I could not prove any of this, they knew where I lived and showed me videos of the inside of our house...please do something before they do this to someone else. I am even afraid to post this because of what may happen but I am tired of not saying how dangerous this place is. They even put my room on lockdown as soon as my sister would leave and had some attendant sit at the door so no nurses could come in. One very brave and physically strong nurse broke the lock with her key card to check on me. I had things done to me that I cannot even write, because they were just so sickening. It felt like much of the staff was controlled by these 2 nurses and were probably afraid of losing their jobs. I will never be the same again and someone should be held accountable, specifically the 2 nurses. I left there almost out of the blue, I was discharged, thank God! The scars will remain with me for the rest of my life. These are 2 very dangerous, sadistic individuals, criminals and what they did to me was straight out of a horror movie. read more

I know this place has some bad reviews but our experience was quite different. We had been to another hospital earlier in the day Garnett Medical and that was a horrible experience. After being transported in an ambulance then waiting 3 hours they still didn't see him. They had no beds which is really terrible. At St Luke we arrived at 7 pm and 10 minutes later he was in a room. Shortly after they took vitals. Shortly after that the NP saw him. Less than an hour later he had CT scans and blood work all done. The only wait was for the results which can't be rushed. All staff we encountered were so friendly and kind. They checked on us periodically and answered all of our questions as well as concerns. Thankfully It turned out to be a kidney stone so while painful not life threatening. We are so grateful for the quality care and kind attention we received from NP Corvino , the RN Jose and the rest of the staff that helped us! read more

All they care about is pushing dangerous drugs on you. I cannot recommend Newburgh St Luke's. There was a lack of compassion with the doctors. They don't really listen. They dispense dangerous pharmaceuticals. Unfortunately it's the only game in town. Another hospital has to take its place or they need to replace their administration. read more

I went into the St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital ER with terrible terrible abdomen pain expecting to be able to go home the same day with simple antibiotics. But I would up having appendicitis and had to have an unexpected surgery, my first surgery! I had to stay overnight, and I was very nervous about it. But I felt extremely safe, comfortable and supported at every turn by this wonderful staff. I could see that the hospital was understaffed, as a lot of hospitals and other businesses are at this time, and I sympathize with that. It was clear that higher ups at the hospital (completely out of the staffs control) were overworking and expecting far too much out of their staff, while not providing adequate support for the team. And yet, even while being so busy and clearly overworked, every single staff member, nurse, surgeon, doctor and anyone else I associated with was SO kind and thoughtful and helpful. My doctors and nurses clearly tried to be quick and accommodating despite having many other patients, and everyone was patient with me as I asked questions and nervous about drawing blood, getting IV and going under anesthesia. I am beyond glad I was able to recover at a place like this, and I really truly cannot thank the staff enough. I was TERRIFIED about having to go into an unexpected surgery (as I think anyone would be) but I'm glad I had a group of people and staffing like this to help me out. This place may have single-handedly cured my fear of hospitals!! Special shout-outs to Dr. Richardson, my day nurse Christina, and my night nurse who I believe her name was Nadia!! And countless countless others whose names I could not remember at my time of stress!! These people take pride and care in their work!! My mom was here for 5 days, the nurses were fine some rude, on the last day supposedly there was some kind of COVID crisis which - I don't see how cause all we saw where nurses leaving. Exactly what they did for my mom I don't know, next time hopefully there won't be one, but for sure another hospital. It's all about money not about care and they proved it. read more

This hospital is great in many ways. Friendly helpful staff. My only complaint is the procedure to get inside. We waited almost forty minutes to get through the line with only four people ahead of me. Very slow. Only one person at the counter. There was a woman in front of me who had an appointment with a doctor here who had to wait on this line. She was actually going to miss appointment until I suggested they let her ahead of the line. I had some major back surgery here this week, and cannot say enough good things about the doctors and nurses. I was hospitalized for five days after the surgery and was very uncomfortable. They were with me and on top of it 24/7 to make sure I had what I needed to make sure I was comfortable, ot to change my meds if things weren't working out. They check on you constantly and they were just the nicest people. It made a very frightening time much easier and I highly recommend surgery and recovery here with these people. The nurses Helen and Alli were my main caretakers and they were absolutely incredible. And the View out the window while you were recovering could not be beat! read more

How do you discharge a 73 year old woman who you say is incapable of making decisions on her own, back to a rehabilitation faciility without even bothering to notify any of the THREE family members who have been in CONSTANT contact with your facility? She had a blood transfusion on Friday 4/7. You found blood in her stool on 4/7 and she was supposed to have a GI consult on Monday 4/10. How are there no notes in your records about this when this imformation was told to family members? How did you come to a decision to discharge her on Saturday 4/8 in the condition that she was in? What kind of hospital is this? This is pure negligence. You all should be ashamed of yourselves. Do not bring your loved ones to this hospital. They will be neglected. read more

I really would give zero stars if I could. You guys really outta be ashamed of yourselves. One: you underpay your staff, your housekeepers are FRONT LINE and you pay them bottom of the barrel pay. We are in a Covid crisis and these people are doing everyone's dirty work but you guys can't even pay them at least $20 an hr? If I could give this hospital negative stars I would. So many reasons they need to tear down this hospital and rebuild. One being there are NO PRIVATE ROOMS. The rooms do NOT have showers. I can not speak more highly of the ER department at St. Lukes. I have cardiac issues,,,history of heart attack and some open heart surgeries. Women in my family often die of a stroke so on the occasions when my blood pressure has spiked I have gone to St. Lukes. The care has always been intelligent and compassionate. This location certainly has improved significantly over the past several years. If I were in an ambulance back in 2003 heading for this hospital and the driver told me, I'd be jumping out the back door of the ambulance half dead! No way would I go to this place. However, they seem to be cranking lots of dough into this place over recent years and it's becoming significantly better. In the past year my daughter was hospitalized here, my family were treated here after a major car accident and my "grama" visits often for various treatments that she normally would get else where. In all instances the service has been great, not mind blowing but pretty darn good compared to years ago. Construction continues these days as they continue to expand the facilities and make this place better which is obvious outside as well as inside. Today I would not jump out an ambulance if I was being taken here. :o) read more

I had a "one day operation" and every person was kind, professional and caring, from check in, to nursing and the operating staff! They answered all of my questions, were never rushed and thought of every little detail from socks to warm blankets and ice water! No one wants to have surgery, but it couldn't have been any smoother. I absolutely recommend having your "one day surgery" here! Their standards far exceeded my experiences at Vassar and Mount Sinai in NYC. I did see a lot of negative experiences re: the ER, but I didn't go to the ER so I can't review it. I can only say that a lot of the complaints were along the lines of: 1) waiting an hour and a half; 2) left and went to my own Dr where i received better care; 3) was sent to wait in the waiting room with all the sick people (a person who then tested Covid positive), etc. I wanted to note that wait times at Vassar can run more than 12 hrs and the standard of care at that ER was horrible. The persons who complained in the St. Luke's comments I referred to didn't wait long at all in comparison, and many shouldn't have been at the ER, they should have gone to a walk-in urgent care or their own doctor. read more

I had to be taken the Emergencyn room about am month ago, I had slipped and fell of a stool, When I got up there was blood all over the place. It looked like a pg was buthered. Sorry abour the spelling. They stitched it up with about 10 stiches. The PA was really nice although. I came in at 3PM and left at 9PM I knew they were crowded my daughter was with me they made her do a co-vid test, She said the line was out the door. The thing that I am very concerned about is that they did a blood test. When I left they gave me a copy of it. He did not even go over it with me. When I got home I looked at it. I know medical terms, when I lokked at it I thought I was going to die. You do not send a patient home without going over everything. My namer is Cindy Berg. Understaffed and they let you know it when you try to ask a question. Definitely do not go here. They would leave my father unattended for hours. When we would visit we had to get icepacks, clean his oxygen mask etc. HIS OXYGEN WAS UNPLUGGED FROM THE WALL AT ONE POINT AND WHEN I TOLD A NURSE SHE LOOKED AT ME DISGUSTEDLY. When he died, they also stole his personal items and have to review security footage to see who stole it. I'd rather die then come to this hospital. read more

This is by far the word hospital I've ever been to. It's incredibly unprofessional. I arrived via ambulance for a head injury and hand abrasions. When they brought me in, the woman who checked me in actually complained that I was a first time patient because she had to do more work. Then they gave me a CT scan for my head but never cleaned or bandaged my hands, which later became infected. The report even says hand abrasions on it. read more

I have been meaning to write this review ever since my initial visit to St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital ER in Newburgh, NY on November 7, 2015 and been back two times in 2016. Honestly each visit has been the worst experience of my life. I fell 18 ft onto concrete and broke three of my vertebrae, had a cut through the muscle on ribs and other injuries. I realize they were busy in trauma room but no excuses for the treatment NOT received. The doctors did not call the spine surgeon (who happened to be in my network) on call that day to review. In fact, they missed two broken vertebrae with their x-rays/cat scan. They failed to arrange for an MRI which would have shown these injuries. They were amazed that I didn't rupture any internal organs. After completing the exam, they referred me to a spine surgeon in their network but not mine. Further they sent me home with pain killers and no support for the spine and told me to get bed rest for 5 days. Also they did not advise my primary care physician (who is affiliated with the Hospital.) During this visit I saw 1 doctor (three times), 2 nurses (two times), and 1 x-ray technician (once), but much to my surprise I was billed for 6 doctors ( for 12 visits) , 3 nurses (9 visits) and the x-ray technician. I guess when their doctor strolls by your cube, they consider that as a visit each time. They seem more concerned about insurance, co-pays and deductible paid up front than anything else in order to cover uninsured patients(i guess). The spine surgeon when examining me two weeks later (i couldn't walk before then) was horrified to learn what Newburgh - St Lukes Cornwall hospital had done or not done. He call St Lukes and said I could have severed my spinal cord with the broken vertebrae and been permanently paralyzed from the waist down. He immediately put me in an upper full body brace to restrict any movement while the vertebrae tried to heal. Fortunate for me, he was able to repair, for the most part, the damage they caused. On another matter, I caught pneumonia at their facility while on a sleep test in May because they put me in a room next to an area where other patients had respiratory diseases. Then they tried to claim I had COPD which after testing it was found to be incorrect. What I find equally egregious/ insulting with this place is that on each of the 3 visits to their facility, they tried to charge me my annual deductible (even when the insurer told them it was exhausted) which they collected twice ($1200). Despite their negligent behavior (malpractice in my opinion) they now want to bill me almost $2000 outside of the set rates agreed with my insurer. If it isn't a life and death emergency, I'd avoid this place like the plague. read more

So my mom (91) went to St. Luke's Newburgh NY last Tuesday 7/26 for an x Ray after falling in her doctors office and they admitted her with out taking the X-ray. Today is Tuesday 7/31 at 12:05 and nothing I mean nothing has been done until yesterday when my sister and I arrived and very nicely complained nothing had been done. So a doctor Rauschenbach finally came in and explained that after reviewing my moms scan she required surgery?? Funny thing is she never had a ct scan!! Come to find out he was looking at someone else's test?? So no food last night no food this morning due to pending surgery ended up doing a bone scan last night and a different doctor comes in this morning ( the first ones partner) because he didn't have the guts to come in himself to tell us she doesn't require surgery. SIX DAYS! There is no MRI machine here and we were told Isotope had to be brought down from Albany to do a full bone scan!! WTF!! My sister and I live almost three hours from here. This place is a FRAUD! Please don't bring your loved ones here if you want them to leave alive. read more

Went in lot the ER with pretty strong pain from kidney stones. I was seen immediately and given fluids, medication and a bed to rest in. Tests were run quickly and the staff was super kind and efficient. Really appreciated their attention on a scary night. Thank you! read more

We go to Westchester, PK CT scan - a nicely defined fracture! Surgery left a plate, a pin, and a few screws on her hip. The investigation commences. read more

The morning of a 7+ hour work road trip from Philadelphia to Vermont, I tripped and hit my leg before leaving home. Fast forward to the NY border, said scrape became a swollen baseball. Searched for hospitals and this was closest. Friendly, fast, easy check in, no wait and every back to back staff member was helpful and caring. Not the typical ER experience. This is literally the worst hospital I have ever been to. I was in the ER following a terrible car accident where my car flipped. They didn't CT my head and now I have a problem with my brain. The ER was FILTHY. There was actually a cockroach in my area. I waited for hours to be seen without any pain medication--not even the Tylenol they said I could have. read more

The staff was amazing besides one particular nurse who seems to not been having a good day and didn't know what to do or give me after my surgery for pain. Thank God I only had her for 1 shift only. So I got hand surgery. They told me I would be released Saturday but Saturday rolls around and the doctors don't even show up to check on my wound. The food is disgusting I can't even smell it. I have to keep reminding the nurses to give me my antibiotics, they don't even ask me what I want to eat they just send it up and call it a day. Horrible hospital read more
