Also during the the 1st 4-weeks we were visited by: * A Dermalogica skin care representative. Crave/Pivot Point has a contract with Dermalogica (textbook, videos, skincare products, etc.). The representative gave us a 'Show-N-Tell' of Detmalogica (Who, What, Where, Why) company and products we'd be using at Crave. * We were also visited by a business owner who owns a Fantastic Sam's hair salon franchise owner who spoke to us about the many facets and careers in the beauty industry. * We were visited by The European Wax Center who also gave us an intimate look into their company, a 'Show-N-Tell' about waxing, types of wax and how important it is to choose the right type of wax for various waxing procedures. We received a Crave apron, our name tag, a Crave water bottle, our student Esthetician professional license so we can purchase equipment, product and tools for training and upon our 4th week our student insurance certificates. I am pleased with the learning phase. I also learned that Crave Beauty Academy teaches each student Esthetician the very basics of becoming a professional Esthetician but does not have the latest equipment for each student to perform the latest skincare method. Everything is done via hands-on using a facial steamer & magnifying lamp. We are told, we can ask for some equipment if the instructor seems it necessary to use on a client. But they only have 1 electric mask, 1 infared machine, 1 this and that..not enough for each student to learn during the 'on-the-floor' hands-on client training phase. The student Esthetician will receive professional products to keep for themselves and for client use (in their kit), which you'll receive 8-weeks into the program: *Crave jacket (it's chilly in the building) *Crave Smock/for use when working with client *waxing kit *Makeup & makeup tools *Skincare products *Eyelash kit *Etc. I grew up in St. Louis and started studying voice with Sheila when I was 13 years old. She shaped…read moremy vocal instrument in a way that I am forever grateful to her for. I had a passion for singing and wanted to learn, so quickly became a good student and a musical theatre geek, but it wasn't until later in my high years when I was applying to top music theatre programs that I realized that she'd made me good...really good. I wasn't just a kid who loved to sing all the time, but a kid who was also keenly aware of technique and tone with the help of the incredible visuals she offers of where to aim and place the sound. She streered me away from habits you can get adopt as a young singer of mimicking other singers. She encouraged me to keep developing my own sense of expression, creativity and musicality...as well as boosted my confidence while always remaining lovingly honest. If it wasn't my best, then I knew it. With her guidance, I was accepted to my top choice for University music programs- The University of Michigan, BFA Music Theatre Program which was an incredible program with great faculty in all areas. Every holiday break and summer I'd come back home and study with Sheila and every time, with her was when I'd make the biggest strides in my vocal development and find the most healthy, artful, authentic version of my instrument. I moved into my professional career as a performer (always with Sheila's technique and tips in my back pocket), and have been fortunate enough to land leading roles in Broadway shows, national tours, and even on the high seas as a headliner. I've recently relocated to Victoria, BC where I'm working more on singer song-writer style music and concert singing and I truly feel that her training has helped me be fluid and versatile in my styles. The exercises and placement that Sheila instilled in me over the years are still my go-to's and I've been lucky enough to at least catch her for facetime remote lessons over the years when working on hard roles and songs or when I need a vocal "re-set" as well as on visits in person when I'm back in St. Louis. She is a magical unicorn/ genius of a teacher and a gem of a human. A true vocal intuitive. I feel lucky to have found her when I did. She has shaped my life and my career for the better.

FINALLY! They got a new instructor & she's fantastic! They better hold on & get more like her (Ms…read more jones)!! She was the reason my experience was great! The students can only fo do much on their own...hey, they're students! & usually the instructors just come by to sign off on the color so the student can start & never come back to watch what they do or make suggestions. Ms. Jones helped choose my color ( it came out to be beautiful!) gave a demonstration & pointers at blow out, helping me with my own hair & certainly the student. She also brought over several products she thought would be good for my hair type, showed how they should be used & wrote them down for me Incase I liked the results I wouldn't forget what They were. I went for a tour and met the owner and literally signed up THAT day. This school focuses on education - theory (infection control, anatomy, application) AND practical (practicing manis, acrylic, pedis..etc) They ensure you will pass your state board, but not only that they set you up for success in the industry. When I called other schools in the area, they do only a tiny amount of education, then toss you out into a student salon with little supervision and training. That was not for me and I almost didnt even go to school. Elite Nail Institute focuses on ensuring you know exactly what you are doing before you even touch a nail! We practiced on each other (so performing services on your classmates) which takes away the fear of working on strangers when you are SO new. The location is very convenient too, right in between a dollar tree and Dierbergs (grocery store) and plenty of parking! When I started nail school, nails were my hobby, but now I truly see it as a lucrative career opportunity due to the schools focus on business skills. I was able to work full-time and attend class, it was difficult but if I can do it, honestly, anyone can! The students in my class have turned into life long friends, the class sizes are quite small which is nice too. I have been to this business 3 times in the past 3-4 months. My first 90 minute massage was…read moreoutstanding! I was asked if I was warm enough, what pressure I liked, what areas were of concern or preferred. I was extremely impressed with the student and my massage! My 2nd 90 minute massage was with a different student. I was not asked if I was warm enough or what pressure I preferred. My massage ended in 60 minutes even though I had paid and scheduled a 90 minute massage. The staff was apologetic and offered to reschedule my 90 minutes massage. I returned about 3 weeks later. I was told my student was en route to the school. I had a clipboard and questionnaire put in my hands to fill out without providing any details or questions like "when was your last massage?" I was frustrated but filled out the form. Then a student I previously had the last time said I was to be her client, was that ok? I hestitated, but agreed. Upon undressing and waiting for student, it seemed about a good 5 minutes! The questionnaire I had filled out asked what are areas of concern or to be avoided. The student asked me these questions and I reconfirmed my answers. During my massage NOT ONCE WAS I EVER ASKED: ARE YOU WARM ENOUGH? IS THE PRESSURE OK? IS THE MUSIC LEVEL TO MY LIKING? NO, instead, I had the exact same 60 minute body massage extended into 90 minutes. Were my concerns tended to during the massage? NO! After dressing and returning to the office, I was handed a clipboard to fill out with comments regarding my massage. I was very honest in my answers! I looked around to hand the clipboard to, did not see anyone, so I placed the clipboard on a table by the office and left, telling myself I will not return to this business. I have yet to receive any follow up phone call regarding my massage and the issues I answered and provided on the feedback form.

They are rude and my daughter does not feel safe in this environment. She was a victim of sexual harassment and administration was very unprofessional about it. They view your child as less because they have a disability. I do not recommend. It's not safe.
