By far the friendliest and most welcoming Catholic Church I have ever attended. I've been a parishioner for about 8 years and have had so many wonderful experiences here. The weekly Sunday night Youth Masses (September-April) were what first drew me to this parish, and all three of my children have participated in the Youth Choir. I love that the Youth Choir music is contemporary and upbeat, and both the choir and the musicians who accompany them are amazing! At the Youth Mass, the readers, eucharistic ministers, and ushers are all teens and it's awesome to see so many young people involved in the Mass. The priests are very nice and make the kids feel welcome as well. There is also an amazing crew of volunteers who cook and serve a free dinner to everyone who attends the Youth Mass. Dinners range from homemade soup and bread to pasta & meatballs, to chicken, to pizza, and there is usually a great crowd of people of all ages eating and conversing together in the church hall after the Youth Mass. Aside from the Youth Mass, there are also other social events at the parish that are great such as the annual Strawberry Festival and the Candy Cane Bazaar. Every event is planned and carried out by volunteers who have so much dedication and are very generous with their time and talents. The religious education program is very good and classes meet on Sunday afternoons/evenings, and Monday evenings. There is also an active Youth Ministry team that plans monthly fun and service events for kids in grade 6 and up. As a new parishioner, I felt welcome at St. Joseph's pretty much immediately, and I've made friends of all ages here. So grateful for this wonderful Catholic church in North Scituate, RI! read more
