Irvington Memorial Cemetery - Happy Birthday Mom!

We were able to find the perfect final resting place for my husband. I had always had a comforting and peaceful feeling just driving by and that continues now. My first visit after the funeral, I was approached by Marcus and told if there was ever anything I needed to be sure to let him know. The perfect example of their compassion and pride and dedication to making you comfortable knowing your loved one is in good hands. Highly recommend.

Horrible Experience!…read more What should have been a peaceful and dignified send off for our beloved family member turned into a nightmare---all due to one worker. We were advised by the Casket Store that we would be given 1 hour for our service. Irvington had us down for only 45. It was a miscommunication between them. But we suffered as a result. At the end of the service, there is supposed to be 5-minute countdown provided by the staff. We weren't given this. (Mind you, we were going by the hour time-frame we were advised of by the Casket Store), and were unaware that we had slightly exceeded Irvington's schedule. Wha happened next was...disturbing. An employee, arrived at our ceremony, pushed my niece out of way and tried to shut the casket. He said "That's enough! You guys are done. " and dragged his finger across his throat as if to say "Shut this down!" The poor priest asked for a couple of more minutes. The employee glared at him and looked ready to to spit on us. This was HATE, pure and simple. I called the manager Jose, who was kind, and receptive, but the damage has been done. Due to this incident, I cannot, recommend Irvington Memorial Cemetery to anyone who values a peaceful ceremony for their family members. Not after what happened to our family. I truly hope this never happens to anyone again.

Leaving a review for a cemetery seems a bit heavy, but hey, that's life for you…read more I've had the unfortunate circumstance of frequenting this cemetery several times. My nanay and tatay (grandmother and grandfather in Filipino) are buried here. Both of their services were also held here in 2014 and 2020 respectively. On a more personal note, the reason above was also the very reason why I chose this cemetery to lay my son Silas to rest in 2017. While it's very difficult to make arrangements for any family member or close relative, having to lay to rest your own child is quite literally the hardest thing I've ever had to endure in my life thus far. Clarice Burnett was one of the very kind and gentle representatives from this establishment to help my husband and I make arrangements. Having to work in this type of business is such a delicate matter and in our situation, Clarice and the rest of the staff we encountered during the entire process from making the arrangements and the burial itself, were very respectful and polite. While the grave marker for my son took over two months, Clarice was in contact with me frequently to keep me updated. When it finally arrived, my husband and I were relieved that it was exactly the way we had envisioned it. He is perfectly placed next to his little angel friends. Their parking lot area is very small and the selection is selective. Also when you drive in it's only one way throughout the entire cemetery so if there's a service or a burial, it's tough to get around. Often times you'll find all the actual parking spaces are filled and all the pavement adjacent to spots all along the graves have car parked along them, causing tight spaces to drive in and around. The only negative thing I would say is I wish they didn't throw away the items you placed on the grave markers for keepsakes for your child to have. They have a strict list of items you cannot place out and while I find it's a bit unfair, it's their rules. We've had items from places we visited and chose to leave for my son, only to have it thrown away and gone by our next visit. Nothing fancy or made of glass. I do respect that they have weekly and monthly cleanings to do but I just feel like if it isn't in the way and kept tidy, then why remove it? Leaving stuff for our children at their grave markers is as close to them as we can get here on Earth, just give us that at least you know?

Buyer Beware: Expect the worst from this funeral home. I…read moreunderstand that it's a business, but the staff are extremely unresponsive. Even trying to get a hold of someone is next to impossible. Your calls get rerouted, and they don't return your phone calls. They seem more focused on money than on showing compassion and empathy toward families who are already grieving while trying to make funeral arrangements. Haney and Delila have been the worst. Expect to be treated as though you don't matter. They are impatient and, in my experience, incompetent. During such a difficult and emotional time, families deserve better communication, compassion, and respect.

Both Fremont Chapel of the Roses and Fremont Memorial Chapel are located on Peralta Blvd in…read moreFremont. Both are owned by the Rose family. Both are extremely well ran & organized. My grandfather worked for Mickey for about 20 years helping out with services there. These guys know what they're doing, they're professionals. They help make planning for services a lot easier on you, in really difficult times for families. Fremont Memorial Chapel, which is located closer to Fremont Blvd, you can actually have the service then have a gathering in the back room after with food/drinks etc. They have a place to set up the food/drinks, and about 11 tables that seat 6 people each. If you plan on having a service where you'd like to provide food/drinks after Fremont Memorial Chapel is the way to go. Fremont Chapel of the Roses is nice also, but they don't have a gathering place to eat/drink afterwards. That's ok, you can have your loved ones service there, then go and eat/gather at another place afterwards near by which a lot of people do.

It's always tough and a sad occasion to bear the loss of a friend and a loved one, but I guess on a positive note it also meant the end of ones long endured pain and suffering - it's a celebration of life... As family and friends gathered to mourn, the scent of fresh flowers and solemn music filled the air . She was a caring and a loving person; she helped many and asked for nothing in return. She will be missed by all... This mortuary offered one room for viewing which had plenty of seating, a podium with microphone, a built in LCD projector and screen, a reception room with stained glass windows, a flat screen TV, a kitchen and restroom. Designated parking and entrance available for family members. This place was well kept all around and directors' were on site to assist. God bless her soul and may she rest in peace...

The care, creativity, and dedication they poured into every detail--coordinating Tommy's return from the San Jose airport, organizing the Sunday lying in repose at their beautiful Livermore location, including the moving tributes by the local fire departments on the way, the funeral service, the procession through Livermore, the service at St. Michael's Cemetery, the press outreach, and help with the reception--was extraordinary. Their work reflected not just professionalism, but generosity and heart. They made us feel supported, seen, and understood during an emotional and significant weekend for our family. We are especially humbled by their offer to name the veterans memorial section at Monte Vista in Lt. Kelly's memory. We understand that T.W. Starkweather is the one with the vision, and we are deeply grateful to him for this honor to Lt. Kelly. This gesture speaks volumes about the care MVMG extends to the families they serve and their deep respect for those who have served our country. I was looking at mortuaries, alone with an unfamiliar duty in an unfamiliar location. I finally turned to Yelp to see what was posted about mortuaries I'd looked at when David from Honor Cremations popped up to say he thought he could help me. I truly felt an instant feeling of safety and trust. Sometimes we're lucky enough to get guidance. David is kind, sympathetic and morale. I spent the next several years feeling secure for when the time came. One of the few things I was able to feel secure about. When my husband did pass in the middle of the night in the veteran hospital hospice, they knew to call Honor. Because it might take time for Honor to arrive, the hospital wanted to take my husband to their mortuary and I refused saying we would wait for Honor. I trusted them and knew he'd be in good hands and those feelings were right. The gentleman who arrived to take my husband helped the nurse prepare him so when he came out of the room he was draped in the American flag. With everything else my husband and I went through with the change in care facilities, finances, and just 'handling it all' as my husband's condition worsened over the years, David's honesty and compassion took this step off my shoulders. I have purchased Honor Cremation for myself, so our children have the confidence to know everything will be taken care of. Thank you David and Honor Cremations. When so many unexpected doors closed with years-long tragedy, you offered a safe open door.
