The cemetery has become quite large. Many generations of my family are buried here back into the 1800's (my ancestors were one of the five founding families of Pickaway County). Visiting here is almost a park-like experience. It is quiet and peaceful. I think they only allow real flowers and no plastic, which also keeps it very nice. There is comfort knowing my parents and grandparents are so well cared for here.

Every time I go to my parent's and brother's grave sites as well as those of my Dad's parents who are buried right next to them, they are a mess. My Dad and brother both have stones at the foot of their graves and most of the time you can't even read them due to weeds. The headstones are seldom trimmed around and so I try to do it, but being handicapped it is extremely difficult for me. However when I go to my other grandparents aunts and uncles sites they are trimmed and looking good! When I asked who to complain to, I was told they trim them all the time--yet I go there a LOT and always found the same thing---till I complained! I have been there 2 times since and they have been better--not perfect, but better!

It was clear what services we needed and at what cost. The facility is very nice. They even have a room with a large TV to entertain young ones. The space can hold quite a few people for a service, and they have side rooms they can open up for even more space. The flowers we received that were purchased directly from the funeral home were very nice and stayed fresh for several days. The air conditioner did interfere with the sound system a bit, but it was simple to turn it off temporarily and it was already nice and cool anyway. Trying to think clearly during a time like this is very difficult. I had remembered when my grandparents passed away that Shaw Davis was used and I heard how great, easy to deal with and how affordable it was compared to other funeral homes in town. We choose Shaw Davis and we could it have been happier with our decision. The staff was very professional, polite and compassionate. They have packages that can be purchased which makes it super easy. However we had a very unique situation and they tailored a package to our needs. The total package was excellently priced. The viewing and service went really well. The room was very spacious and allowed for a lot of people, we also used the overflow rooms. The bathrooms were very nice, clean and also had a baby changing table. There was coffee and water for the guests. There was also a large room with a tv where little ones could hang out and play. The graveside service was perfect. There was 2 staff members that were on site to help with any needs and make sure everything was moving as planned. Sad as our situating was, we couldn't have been happier with Shaw Davis. I highly recommend Shaw Davis as their pricing is affordable, transparent and stress free.

After another funeral service informed us they could not help us within 24 hours of funeral. We called Day-Manofsky. Rick Day put together arrangements in less than 24 hours and talked to us about alternatives. For example since our service was small, suggested we not do traditional police escort processional from church to graveside. Made it easier and saved us money. Spence Funeral Service in Canal quoted us price in excess of $6000. Day-Manofsky charged us $2378 for same services. Death of loved one is always hard. We felt like Rick Day treated us with respect, listened to what we wanted, and did not take advantage of us in a situation where we were vulnerable.

The funeral home was in charge of the funeral service and cremation. A horrific list of items was either not done or done incorrectly. 1. The viewing started late because the staff had not set up the room in time. 2. We had asked to have my mom's hair braided. They failed to braid her hair. My daughter had to do it. 3. The tribute video playing when loved ones entered the room to see her was a tribute video of someone other than my mother. They had to hurriedly switch it out. 4. We were told we could stream music over Bluetooth speakers. When we were ready to play her favorite songs we were informed they didn't have a Bluetooth speaker that day. We were forced to have a family member retrieve one. 5. We requested several locks of hair to be preserved because she was being cremated. This was not done before her cremation. They are lost forever. 6. We requested finger nail clippings be kept in order to preserve her DNA. This was not done before her cremation. Her DNA is lost forever. I do not recommend this funeral service for anyone. Their prices are low, but there's a reason for it. Do yourself and your loved ones a favor and go someplace else. At this point, I don't even trust that the ashes I received are those of my mother. That doubt will be stuck with me for the rest of my life. It's not worth the couple of thousand dollars we saved.
