We entered and no one was around. I said "You-Hoo?" and no one answered. My niece opened the first available door and saw a woman in a black skirt suit with her blouse untucked and in bare feet standing over an open casket. This woman came out, still disheveled and in bare feet and greeted us. (We should have left then but they had already picked up the body of my sister. She led us to an elevator, which had a huge bag of garbage on it, and took us to a downstairs meeting room. Among other things, she was not prepared for our appointment. She kept leaving to get things she needed. I wanted just a plain cremation because we were planning to inter her elsewhere in the summer. Many times, she said that "they" could help with that. She seemed to be interested in making more business. The funeral home wrote what I believe was an AI generated obituary after I had given her a detailed statement that I wrote. The saleswoman told us that the home would call when they received the death certificates. They did not. I called and had to pick them up at another inconvenient location. Finally, they did deliver my sister's remains, re-emphasizing that they would like to help us with her internment. Deli8vering my sister was the wrong time to ask for more business. I had to write the real obituaries and submitted them to the Monroe News and the Toledo Blade. A couple of weeks later they delivered an "advertising mug" and a corrected obituary. This certainly was too late, and the mug was in poor taste. Just because Merkle Funeral Home has several locations does not mean they are good at what they do. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE!

I would never recommend this funeral home to anyone. The funeral home rep (Mary) made some rude…read morecomments about my wonderful beloved family member which are too hurtful to even repeat here. Also I was in such terrible grief at the time and could barely function and didn't know you could have your loved one's fingerprint saved or a clipping of hair etc which she NEVER told me about and would have meant the WORLD to me to have. We had a closed casket funeral and she never offered to put my loved one in a lovely and complete outfit of clothing which I also would have wanted had I been thinking straight at the time and she never offered or suggested this either. Mary was very cold and uncompassionate in her suggestions for writing the obituary too. I would never ever recommend this funeral home to anyone who cares about their precious loved ones!

I called to schedule an appointment & they got me in right away. They were so kind, empathetic & knowledgeable. Jeff Rupp walked me through the process. He wrote a beautiful obituary from the information that we supplied to him. I told him what I wanted & he made it all happen for me. He even expedited the cremation process so Scott's ashes would be at the funeral on Sunday. They had a beautiful large room with lots of seating & a kitchen off to the side. I had 6 boards of pictures & they even provided easels for them. They arranged everything so beautifully. I asked for a locke of Scott's hair & they clipped & saved some for me before he was sent to the crematorium. His service was yesterday, ending late. Jeff told us that if we would like we could pick up the flowers in the morning. That was really nice since we were exhausted. I highly recommend Rupp Funeral Home, they are so accommodating! They make you feel like family! Please see my picture. My husband would have loved it! Flowers by Monroe Florist.

I went in after my mom passed in September of 2025. Picked out a design and paid for it . I got an…read moreemail in October to finalize the design so they could get started. I told them I wanted to make changes and they said that was ok. Sent them the final design oct 16. Extra $200 charge no big deal. Over the course of the next FIVE MONTHS I called and emailed several times to find out the status. Most of the emails were never answered. I called about four months into it and she said it was "sitting in the back" ready to be done? I said well any estimates on time? Well we will let you know. Gotta wait for the snow to melt so we can find the grave. At this point it's not done anyway. They told me 6-8 weeks approx but ok. One of the emails I sent I said I finalized it in October hoping for it to go in before the holidays so I could decorate it for my mom. That was really important to me but they didn't respond to that. It's now APRIL 2026 . After several emails I called again. Tom tries to gaslight me by saying he had it "laid out" and I changed it. I did not give a go ahead to do the first design and that stone was never started. If they did they shouldn't have because it wasn't approved. that was FIVE months prior to now anyway. I said you didn't start it because when you sent the proposed design I changed it before anything was finalized. He tells me " IM SPEAKING OVER HIM" . I'm clearly upset . It's Easter and I wanted to put flowers down if possible. A birthday has passed and Christmas. These people do not care. He hung up on me 3 times. Extremely extremely disrespectful to a grieving family. DO NOT deal with them.

Now it is the beginning of May and it still has not been delivered to the cemetary. I was told it was because (they have not gone out that way and the price of gas was high) although back in April when the cemetery was receiving shipments the gas had not increased yet. I have asked to be sent a photo of the marker several times and have yet to receive one. I am beginning to believe it has not yet even been carved. Now I am being told it will be delivered before Memorial Day.
