I was on my way to Sayler's and forgot to print the coupon they used to run during the week, where you got $10 off a dinner, so I thought I'd pop in here, use the computer and print it out. The open air atmosphere seems like a good idea till you want to go upstairs to a relatively quiet area. Conversations from the ground floor can be heard throughout the library. Because it's a little library in a little town, it doesn't have everything, but it does have its fair share. You'll often find some "lucky day" books (unreservable copies of new releases), audiobooks, dvds, and more. The library is not staffed at all hours, only a couple of days a week will you find a librarian in the office. The door to the building is always locked against entry, even during business hours. You must scan or key in your library card number to enter. The door is always unlocked for exiting. Shelves line the walls and an island in the middle of the room. There is heating and cooling through a window unit and two chairs for reading, two computers, a printer and a payment station for copies. A self-checkout kiosk. That's about all you can fit in the 400sq ft that make up the official library area to the right of the entrance.... ... but to the left... There are jail cells! Because this building used to be the town hall and town jail. There are two or three cells, and one of them is an honor-system book store that benefits the library. The others are locked and used for storage. This is also where the bathroom is located. Upon entering the brick building there is a nice foyer with a long shelf-like desk made of a stunning piece of wood. You can log in here with your laptop and not have to compete for space in the small library. Peak hours are right after school when several local kids stop by on their walk home from school.

It…read moremaintains reasonable rates for electricity and has previously done so in an environmentally sound way. I am now concerned. Why is BPA involved in the Boardman to Hemingway Transmission line? This line is not needed and is simply a way for Idaho Power to assure profits to its shareholders . It is planned to tear a 300 foot swath through mainly private land in Oregon , destroying priceless forests, farmland, views, historical sites. riparian areas, water and wildlife habitat. The level of public anger is continuing to escalate. There are people willing to be arrested or killed rather than allow this line to desecrate their land. It will kill Threatened and Endangered Wildlife, ignore setbacks from riparian areas, cross through protected areas including Ladd Marsh which contains one of the few successful mitigation projects BPA has and which is supposed to be protected. Hundreds of people have objected to this project. There is currently a federal lawsuit due to the environmental damages it will cause, and there will be hundreds of contested case requests and litigation due to the intended approval by the Oregon Department of Energy. BPA should not be attached to a development that will do the kind of environmental and human injury that this project would inflict. I suggest you review the comments that have gone to the Oregon Department of Energy objecting to this project and look at the website for the grassroots nonprofit STOP B2H which has over 800 individual members and multiple environmental groups who oppose this development and ask yourself if Bonneville Power wants to have all these people questioning whether or not you are a company deserving of public support.
