Although I am not of this religion, I appreciate the times when it is quiet here and come here to just meditate and pray things that I wish for. I often do not visit during their worship activities yet but probably because I never got the chance to come when there's an event. You can check their history online. I remember before I know about Yelp I had to search for them for the address because I do not know where it was located. I usually came across this temple when I was going through my beautiful drives in Mount Airy & Germantown on the north west edge of Philadelphia. It is such a beautiful area here that after you go to the temple, you can always Mount Airy and Germantown. The Radha Krishna temple is a further downtime street from the intersection with Germantown avenue. There is the beautiful Wissahickon Park of Philadelphia nearby where you can also go for trailing in the woods after you park your car. This is very woody and greens area with occasional streams. There are little shops nearby along Germantown avenue that can be fun and artsy to explore. If you go south towards Philadelphia it will get a bit rough in that it looks urban and if you go more north on Germantown it will get kind of prettier. Enjoy!

It doesn't have the best acoustics, though, so both ceremonies were hard to hear. Also, there is no air conditioning, which was BRUTAL in the summer. They could cycle the air better. Even with a huge fan it was unbearably hot and only made things harder to hear. It also doesn't seem very handicap accessible. Lots of stairs or hills on both sides. Not sure if there is something I missed, like an elevator at the back. It would be worth checking out.

In the Roxborough-Manayunk area this is the coolest church there is, architecturally speaking. I grew up in the Holy Family parish (now called Holy Child), which is really the only other building with neat things to look at when you aren't gettin' down with the Holy Spirit, but St. John's was always the best for occupying my ever active imagination while I waited for the "go in peace' to finally be issued. Full of stained glass windows, intricate carvings, colorful murals, fancied up buttresses, arches, and columns, and with a massive pipe organ to boot.

We were both baptized Catholic but had a non-catholic wedding. We decided to get our marriage blessed or "convalidated" in order to be god parents for our nephew and to feel more connected to our family and the Church. We approached Father Kelly about this and he was very welcoming and non-judgmental.
