Over a dozen parishioners were keeping vigil in St. Rita's on All Souls Day, November 2, 1961, when…read morethe church organ began playing on its own, a series of random notes. The congregation turned to look at the organ in the loft above the main doors and observed six robed figures -- three in white and three in black -- flanking the organ as it continued to play. The figures were described as semitransparent, neither hands nor faces visible through the fabric. The parishioners rushed in terror to escape the church, but the doors refused to open. Horrified, they watched as the figures floated down to the main floor and glided over the pews to the front of the church while a voice was heard saying "Pray for us." A wind blew through the church, and the doors flew open, allowing the parishioners to escape. Officially, the event never took place. Parish priests described the story as a teenage hoax or deny it ever happened at all. The witnesses, however, (some of whom are still living) stand by their account of the events of that night though it has never been repeated. These are yet some of the haunts associated with St Rita, Check it out for yourself. St Rita has a beautiful goth feel to it, but the neighborhood that I once new is long gone. Gone are the days of a church being kept safe, it seems that gangs now infest the area but the church still holds its own. Whether it is haunted or not, its still a wonderful church. Please respect this fact.

Although he had been at a bar on 63r street he claimed a tree fell on Fairfield just missing his car. My mother dismissed this as a drunken vision but did go the next day to look for a fallen tree. No tree! Later, after hearing what happened in the church my parents weren't sure of what he had actually seen.

This is a lovely Catholic church in Burbank, IL. It was built in a day when each denomination built…read moretheir own place for worshiping...the first thing immigrants usually did was form their own parish community. Thus you would have a Polish church just down the street from an Irish faith community. While the nationalities have blurred a bit, this is still a wonderful church. This parish community was started in 1949, with this church building going up in the 1960s. The community now is primarily Polish and Hispanic. We were here for a Friday fish fry which is held in the huge basement cafeteria and meeting hall. Since the parish community also has a couple of schools (a regular grade school and a Polish grade school), there are a lot of youngsters to feed each day and they use this space. We usually go fish fry spelunking in Lent, and this fish fry was the best one we have ever been to. If you visit you'll see the fish being soaked in milk, hand-breaded, and fried just before it hits your plate. Generous portions, good sides, a great baked potato, an inexpensive bar for those that imbibe, and many volunteers working the fry so all is clean and ready. Wonderful 5-star fish fry, and one they hold every Friday during Lent except Good Friday. Regarding the church, it was a beautiful space as seen in the attached pictures. The serenity and beauty of the facility is really warm and welcoming. This is a pie-shaped church...with rows of pews all curved in a semi-circle and facing the altar. Beautiful church furnishings...from the statues to the altar. Give this place a try one day when you seek some comfort and support.

I have been going to this church since I was a kid. It is a welcoming and loving place. My great…read moregrandparents were helpful in supporting the creation of the church and participated in craft shows as well. Many good memories and still currently visiting.

I was very disappointed…read more Also, I have to say that I was appalled that the two priest who presided over this funeral mass NEVER had a face mask on. The deceased died from Covid and was cremated before the services. Once he went in the hospital his loved ones never saw him alive again. He was in the hospital approximately 2 weeks. This catholic church told them they could not have a eulogy for him. I found this heartbreaking for everyone. The family, loved ones, extended family and friends needed to hear a eulogy. They needed these words from a loved one or someone to add closure to this. I have defended my Catholic church over many controversies over the years but I think this is a disgrace. I can't forgive this. Could they not allow 10 minutes for a eulogy?

The Priests here know the faith and are not "push overs" for people who want to be more liberal in the way the Mass is celebrated. I attend the Latin Tridentine Mass here and the people who attend that Mass are very warm. The Mass is also celebrated at times as Ad Orientum which is refreshing for a Novus Ordo Mass. I don't live in this Parish but I travel to get here so that I can assist at a reverent Mass. So if you want true Tradition and reverence in a Mass, this is the place for you. God bless the Priests in this Church! Update: There is a new pastor at this parish. He does not know how to say the Latin Mass. He doesn't even help distribute holy communion because he does not know the Latin prayer to say during the distribution to each person. The only Mass given Ad Orientem is the Latin Mass. None of the other Masses are given ad orientem. I feel this parish is going backwards in terms of the way the Masses are given/said. There are no altar boys for the Latin Mass but it is in the works for some boys to be trained to serve on the altar at the Latin Mass. It's a good thing there is at least one priest who just learned the Latin Mass and he hopes to get better at saying the Latin Mass. So please pray for Fr. Matthew.
