This is a bit of a sad little charity shop in the heart of Oakwood. It has all the things you expect from a charity shop - a large selection of second hand clothing, ceramics and glassware, VHS cassettes - you know the usual. When I wandered in I was hoping to sniff out some exciting quirky items but no matter where I looked everything was sort of tainted with dull. There were some jewellery items in the counter, but that was fairly sparse. Even the back room had little to offer except a few tattered board games.
Finally, the young man at the counter really looked like he didn't want to be there. He offered a sort of attempt at making a welcome but quite obviously didn't care. I wonder whether it is simply because Oakwood is such as small place that he can't have had that much custom and so was rather fed up by this point, which might explain the lack of interest within their items, but even so I immediately felt awkward as I entered and almost felt the need to find an excuse to leave as soon as possible. I found a little packet of buttons, bought them for 10p and made a sharp exit. Relief! I don't like to end on a bad note, and it is a charity shop, but I'm struggling to find anything more to say - perhaps it will be different next time...if there is a next time? read more
