On Thursday, December 12 we had the pleasure of being invited to see a special showing of The Christmas Show. From my understanding the theater was filled with special needs individuals and mentally challenged individuals as well as their caregivers. My mother and mother in law belong to a very special group called the ACT program, an adult day care center. My mother in law has dementia, it is a challenge. My mother is perfectly fine and hours loves to go to this program. As we entered the theater we were greeted by kind, loving people. Al Pica was one person who helped us in. As we entered where we were sitting we were approached by Ushers Jackson and Ricky. Two of the kindest young adults. There empathy towards my mother in law and her needs was so beautiful to see. They both went above and beyond with helping me out. Making sure the wheelchair was secured, helping me with sitting my mother in law in the very comfortable chair for the show. Taking the wheelchair to a different spot so I didn't have to leave her alone. Asking if we needed anything. As the show was coming to an end there they were again. By the way we weren't the only people in the theater that needed help. I watched them, their energy and politeness and pleasant attitudes were so refreshing. And the Christmas show was AMAZING. The props, backgrounds and sets were more beautiful than the next. The actors and dancers were exceptional. I highly recommend the show and venue. The venue is so clean and pretty. All of the staff there for every event I have ever been to have been polite and happy to help and serve. Five stars...

A melrose is just about the hall.

The balcony scenery demonstrates a pleasantness to the set of three seats. Moreover the theatre is a depiction of an older structure.

Although modest on the outside, this is a stunningly beautiful theater on the inside. Opened in 1929, The St George Theatre is a true movie palace. I was lucky enough to be able to take a day trip to NYC to see a showing of the movie Casablanca here. It was a rare treat to be able to sit up in the balcony of a movie palace to watch a classic old movie. The spacious interior is a variety of Spanish and Italian Baroque styles. The beautiful murals really set it apart from other movie palaces I've visited. Before the movie I took plenty of pictures, while listening to an organ concert. A movie palace with a working organ is even more rare! I'm glad this theater has managed to survive over the years.

This place is like you're stuck in the Staten Island version of "Midnight in Paris"! You know you are walking down an ordinary street and then BAM! Right in the middle of the 1920s! I'm an old soul so I love this stuff! I came here last Friday to see a live 1920s style Jazz band and company. The show was Broadway style (and I'd know i have more Broadway Play Bills than underwear) This is a GEM. I've been living in Staten Island for all these years and never even looked at this place! Plus all the renovations are done by a sister duo out of their own pockets and just for the love of the theater. It is lovely!!!

I love this theater. It doesn't hurt that it's a 5 min walk from my place but even if it wasn't it's an absolutely beautiful theater and there are no bad seats as far as I can tell. Even in the second mezzanine there's no problem seeing the show. Some of the negative reviews seem silly to me. It's a concert. Your gonna have some obnoxious people in the audience sometimes and parking is gonna be a pain in the rear end. That comes with the territory. To see a show in a venue as beautiful as this one is really a rare experience. It's absolutely my favorite place to see a concert.

I've seen a few shows here over the years and the architecture always impresses me. It's a very tall building, when you're at the top you feel quite far away from the stage, but the acoustics wouldn't have you believe that.

Had several reservations until a friend of mine, who was interested in trying pole fitness. She informed me that there is a beginners class on Sundays at the Staten Island location as well as convinced me to try again. I am glad that I decided to try again. The instructor Aniesha has a positive and encouraging persona. She is not dismissive or acts if a pole should know what it is after one showing. She will show a move and then come around to either view what a student is doing or help them to do their best. She encouraged me to feel comfortable enough to climb on both sides to the top of the top to place my start in front of other students. That is something I would normally shy away from but I am glad I did not. If available to Aniesha, I do hope she begins teaching more classes. If you are looking for something different, definitely try out pole fitness and my personally opinion is try Aniesha as the instructor

The class was so fun, I am so out of shape but I was still able to follow through with this class. The instructor was great; she is still training to be an instructor but I think she's got it! I really was so warmly welcomed here and they were eager to help answer any questions and just engage with some of the key points. So many charming things used to learn today. From mastodons of which you can enjoy seeing a 10-foot-tall mastodon sculpture : a woolly mammoth-looking creature which once roamed the hills of Staten Island in prehistoric days. Learn about the industries that thrived in this area for example, their chewing gum factory, the terra-cotta factory & ceramic factory. Such wonderful things created for people to enjoy, however, the Freshkills area and then to see all the years and years worth of efforts made to clean up the area and make it safe and beautiful and a wonderful habitat once again. It was nice to see that it's treated as a beautiful treasure. Grateful to the women who lead the groups that were very persistent in this endeavor. I loved seeing the erasure poetry activity.. where are we made poetry by blocking out the letters that were the writings of the museum's kind founder William T. Davis. Reconstructing his writing.. it's a wonderful little game that takes you slowly into his thoughts and his love and reflections of his town. I'm happy to learn about the founder of this museum and how he took care of all the sailors by constructing these buildings and giving them a home after a lifetime of working hard on the ships Very thankful for all the hard-working people that keep this wonderful story alive and in the minds of everyone lucky enough to venture this way.

You can get through most of the garden in under an hour and a half. They are known for the Chinese Garden which is breathtaking and costs just $5 to explore. The exhibit shares great history and really makes you feel like you're in a different world. There is a cafe with outdoor seating where you can grab a small bite and there's also a few adorable cottages and one of them is converted into an ice cream shop with benches outside. They also had a dance festival which was fun to watch. This was the perfect place to spend a summer day!

But we found the classes to be overcrowded (12 students) and the kids were not learning to swim because they just didn't have enough water time or quality instructors. So we searched out a few programs and settled on Freedom. We have for the most part been pleased with the program especially their progress. They have worked on technique throughout the years including attending summer swim clinics. Although there may be one or two questionable instructors at Freedom, they have done a great job bringing in skilled coaches for their learn to swim program. These coaches are fabulous and really seem to know each student. Classes are held up n various locations depending on your level. These classes are held in Brooklyn Poly Prep, Brooklyn Sports club, Staten Island South Shore YMCA, RBYMCA (Raritan Bay NJ) and CLL aquatics Center in NJ. We really like the program and our only issue is their communication. It is consistently poor and we can't figure out why they don't get that part of their business together. For example: 1. They should have someone you can contact by phone at all times 2. Text messages are always incomplete and sends you to your mail for the remainder of the message which is often times a date. 3. The website is poorly constructed 4. The includes antiquated information as far back as 2020 5. The website is difficult to navigate and overloaded for no good reason 6. Clarity of material ordering and timeline for ordering is unclear 7. Overall their communication is really, really poor and needs a great deal of support. Having said all of this, it is a good program but could be a great program with some restructuring of their communication, website and parent outreach. The program is expensive , so you would think that the directors or the coaches would take time to meet with families at various levels at least at the beginning of each season to let them know what kids will be learning, competition information, and what parents can do to support their child. There's just important things missing that the directors need to figure out. Communication is definitely on top of the list!!!!!! I would still recommend the program as a means to getting kids on the road to becoming good swimmers.

Great place to go if you want your kid to learn to swim. Freedom Aquatics are the best. Staff are…read morevery nice and they know what they are doing.
