Nancy & Wallace have made a very warm and welcoming environment for guests to stay. The cottage is charming and well stocked with everything one might need or want. We stayed in the dog-friendly room and it had all the amenities for a convenient environment. There is a coffee & tea bar with all the amenities imaginable. In addition, there is wine, soft drinks, water, and snacks available. Breakfast was delicious and food sensitivities honored. We couldn't have enjoyed our stay more. Would love to come back here again! Room was super clean, comfortable, and equipped (bathroom had all the lotions and washes, room had fridge, tv with streaming). They even have some toiletries and over-the-counter meds in a little basket in on of the main areas in case you've forgotten something! Wallace and Nancy were so friendly, and fun, and incredible at..well..hosting! The breakfast was a treat - wholesome, and delicious. There was coffee, juice, and three courses. Am super impressed by how flexible they are with dietary restrictions/customizing the meals based on the guests. I think they get some of their ingredients from the garden in the back. They didn't have other guests staying in the room I was in, so they were super flexible about our checkout time. read more

This was a 1 night stay during the pandemic - what?! I'm social distancing, not going anywhere for months, and chose St. Francis Cottage over a Hilton hotel (where I have points to stay for 'free') to keep risk levels lower. First, location: This B&B is located very close to I-75 which was ideal for us as we were headed south to Georgia. Atmosphere: The house is set back from the main road and on a large property with gardens surrounding it. There is a welcoming front porch and entering the foyer you get a sense of being welcomed to a home of people you know. Our room was on the first floor, the Sunflower room, so super convenient to check-in and drop our stuff. The room is spacious and comfortable. There are lots of modern amenities like a Google Mini, TV, with Netflix and wifi. The king bed was a little softer than we were expecting, but still comfortable. The en-suite bathroom was clean with plenty of towels. The common spaces are well appointed with games, televisions, tables and there are welcoming outdoor spaces including a hot tub. Our arrival at 7:30pm was met with happy hour - snacks and beer and wine. Lovely! Service: Wallace and Nancy were so very welcoming. They made us feel right at home. The service we experienced was outstanding! Food: As I mentioned, there are snacks in the evening, they were individually packaged, thanks to COVID. There was also self-serve wine and beer. Breakfast was a 3 course affair. First course was fruit, with yogurt and granola available. The second course was a quiche with toast. The third course, my first time having a dessert course at breakfast, was a cinnamon roll with apple compote for the gluten eating, the gluten free option was pancakes. YUM. Nancy and Wallace were very attentive throughout the entire breakfast. Recommendation: It's a yes for me. This is a wonderful place to stay. Enjoy! read more

A wonderful two night visit. A spacious gardens and surrounding trees give a country feel although it is conveniently close to shopping, dining, and the interstate. The bedrooms are spacious, comfortable, and nicely decorated (we had the Cardinal room). The dining/common room on the main floor is similarly comfortable with welcoming decor and even a fireplace. There are a plethora of amenities there, but we only partook in the breakfast. That meal was delicious and generous in portion. Our first morning we had their customized version of Eggs Benedict and I had the optional sauteed mushrooms, spinach added. It was cooked to perfection. On the side we sampled their offering of fresh mixed fruit and strawberry yogurt on top of granola. It was followed by a slice of pumpkin-flavored cake that was rich and moist and topped with a house sauce. The second morning was a germanic breakfast casserole topped with easy-over eggs (again, cooked perfectly). My wife is a coffee snob, and she found their special blend fantastic. Not a single dish disappointed and the establishment could probably succeed as just a restaurant. The host and hostess were friendly and we really enjoyed our stay. read more

St. Francis Cottage is the best B &B I have ever stayed at and I stayed at a lot of bed and breakfast places. It's very clean. Rooms are big and beds are very comfortable. They have extra blankets. Our room had a nice bath tub and a shower. It's very quiet. When you open a window all you can hear is crickets and rain. Breakfast is delicious. The owners are very friendly. I loved this place and i highly recommend staying there if you are visiting Chattanooga. read more

This is a lovely, newer l, clean and comfortable place to stay and the owners are very accommodating and friendly without being intrusive or monopolizing if your time. I've stayed at a few b and bs and this one is probably my favorite so far. I stayed here during "the hurricane" and loved it. I only wish the bed in the room I stayed in was moved to another wall, as the kitchen and fridge(which is loud) is on the other side of the wall. It really didn't contribute to a sound sleep. Once they move the bed and rearrange that room I'd say 5 stars for sure. The place itself is a bit away from the road which is nice, because it allows a private quiet setting and it is super comfortable and welcoming. Not clutter filled like some b and bs, but comfortable. You will not go away hungry as the food offered is wonderful and plentiful. read more

Absolutely heaven on earth for us and our four legged companion. As part of a road trip to Texas we wanted to find a safe, comfortable place close to the interstate that our dog would enjoy as much as us. This exceeded those expectations. Nancy, Wallace, and their four-legged angel Mini were wonderful hosts and treated us to perfect accommodations, a delicious breakfast (the lemon curd pancakes are to die for!) and welcomed us to pick blueberries to take home on their never ending stretch of blueberry bushes. Truly would've never known we were right off the highway if it wasn't for the Netflix. We can't wait until our road trip takes us back through Chattanooga so we can come back! read more

Wallace was very accommodating with our stay. We would stay again. The room was very clean and the room had all the amenities we needed. We did have only one issue minor, we felt rushed at breakfast. We were told that he had a place to go, even though we had breakfast @ 9:00 am and we were the only ones at that time. The dessert was put in a to go container. If we didn't feel rushed at breakfast we would of given a 5 star review. read more

Had a bit of a staycation here (we live in Hixson) with my wife as an early Valentine's Day celebration. It was just what the both of us needed. The accommodations were beautiful and very homey. We were in Chattanooga for a wedding. My sister and BIL arrived a week early and happened on St. Francis after arriving from California at midnight. They were so impressed with the welcoming goodies left out for them and the amazing 3 course breakfast that they canceled their hotel reservations and booked the following week at St. Francis Cottage. My sister called me with the news and, fortunately, Wallace and Nancy were able to accommodate me the following week. Sadly, they were 100% booked for the following week at that point and my brother and SIL had to stay in the hotel. Wallace and Nancy graciously invited my brother and SIL to join us for breakfast on two mornings. Breakfast is the crowning glory of each day at St. Francis Cottage. Each day we were served a different gourmet 3 course breakfast, the third course being a scrumptious dessert. I preferred saving mine to be enjoyed as a nighttime treat. The accommodations are roomy, comfortable and charming. My sister and BIL enjoyed watching movies in the TV room. Evenings spent sitting out on the large back porch, enjoying the abundance of lightening bugs flying around in the beautiful wooded backyard, was a real treat for us. Wallace and Nancy are amazing hosts. My husband and I spent the night there yesterday. The home and grounds were just wonderful. We could not have been happier with our room. They had a great assortment of snacks out. Wallace greeted us warmly and gave us a tour of the property upon our arrival. The place is immaculate. Not a speck of dust or dirt in the entire bed and breakfast. Our stay at St. Francis Cottage was nothing short of wonderful. Check-in and arrival were very easy and pre-arrival communication made it very easy to locate. We were delighted to receive a short tour of the house and gardens shortly after check-in. Delightful and truly five-star quality. My husband and I stayed overnight at St. Francis Cottage for a quick getaway, and we both wished we could stay indefinitely (and we will certainly be back!). This was our first Bed & Breakfast experience, and I cannot see how any establishment could possibly compete, be it in quality of facility, attention to detail in appointments and amenities, hospitality... and the BREAKFAST. "Gourmet" does not do justice to such an amazing meal. This is by far the nicest place we have ever stayed. Every attention to our needs was made by the hosts. My husband scrapped his head on a low rock at Rock City and when we got back to the cottage all the first aid we could ever need was waiting for us at the top of the stairs. I have stayed here twice and both times were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! They are hidden away from all the hustle and bustle, but still very close to all sorts of things to do. I have stayed in the Sunflower room and the Monarch and I can't say enough about St. Francis Cottage! Spacious rooms, comfortable beds, the bathrooms that make me envious, the grounds are beautiful, everything is so clean and the food is INCREDIBLE! Wallace and Nancy are so nice and go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable; they provide anything you could need. I've heard they recently added a hot tub so I can't wait to go back and try another room. If I could live here I would, it's that good. read more

What an absolute gem! I travel to Chattanooga routinely for work and would stay in hotels, but then I found Wallace and Nancy's place and have never looked back! The rooms are gorgeous; every detail perfect. Beds are extremely comfortable, shower and tub water is hot with great pressure. The breakfast area and full 3 course breakfast is a perfect start to your day. Gardens and great room are peaceful and create great energy. We chose St. Francis Cottage because of the amazing breakfast photos on their website. Breakfast did not disappoint (fruit and Eggs Benedict followed by lemon curd pancakes), but the rest of the experience was just as great! Our room was lovely, quiet, and comfortable. We enjoyed walking around the beautiful property/garden (most of the photos hung around the house were taken on the grounds by the host, Wallace!) and playing with the sweet little dog. There were beverages for any time of the day or night and every thoughtful accommodation you could dream up. The location is convenient and the owners were so welcoming and warm. Travelled to Chattanooga for our granddaughters 10th birthday, we chose St Francis Cottage specifically for it's proximity to our daughter's home. This turned out not to be pure luck, but we suspect, divine intervention! First, the B&B...well done in every way imaginable. We peeked at all the rooms before others arrived and each is tastefully appointed, spacious, and every amenity you can think of was available. The common areas and grounds just beg you to relax and do nothing, or sit and chat with friends, old & new. The breakfast...if you leave your seat hungry & dissatisfied, shame on you. Two entrée offerings each morning, fresh fruits, and a breakfast dessert, all served to you, not a self-serve, by the innkeepers, Nancy & Wallace. This is the area that "makes or breaks" a stay at any B&B/Inn, the Innkeepers. From the moment we checked in, we felt like we were visiting old friends. They both are genuinely sincere and gracious host, that serve with a generous heart. There will be more trips to Chattanooga for us in the future, and St Francis Cottage will be our Chattanooga home. read more
