Bad sandwich with rotten meat in it, the refused to take it back. Spanish people have poor service and manners.

If you're in Palma de Mallorca, you must stop at Fornet de la Soca! This 400 year old bakery is…read moretouted as having the best native pastry in town. They have a ton of baked goods but if you only have room for one thing, it has to be the Ensaimada. The ensaïmada is a special pastry specifically from Mallorca, so you're getting a local treat. It's made with usual ingredients but then a reduced pork lard instead of butter giving it a really unique flavor. Don't let that scare you though, I promise you will be so happy once you bite into one. Plus it's all cute and spirally Now if you can eat more than one item, go all out then! An adorable older couple runs the shop and goods are baked daily. If you want specific items, it may be worth pre-ordering on their site to ensure they don't run out. If you take a ship in like I did, it's a 20 min drive from port. However, it's surrounded by a lot of great restaurants & sites to see. Staff is so nice but keep in mind they close at 8pm each night. We went near closing and had no line, but I have heard lines build during the morning.

Fornet de la Soca is a traditional Mallorcan bakery that's vegan-friendly (lard-free) with knowledgeable staff. Dad's not vegan but I am so this place is perfect. There are both savory and sweet options that include flatbreads/pizzas and apple pies. The absolute best was the traditional panades with pea and leek filling. By far, one of my favorite bites from this entire trip. Fornet de la Soca is a must to appreciate what Mallorca has to offer. And it's just a few blocks east of Passeig del Born. Go!
