You can't go wrong at Palma's most coveted cafe! Anybody travelling to the island will need to drop by to try one its famous pastries: the ensaimada Upon walking in, we were greeted with incredible hospitality and smiles from the wait staff. On a Saturday afternoon, the cafe was packed, and we were lucky to find a seat for the four of us. Once we sat down, we quickly ordered an ensaimada each- a warm, coiled shape cake which contained chocolate for ours. We also got a glass of champagne (cava) ice cream to go with the puffball. Let me tell you- it was an INSANE sugar overload, and that was not a bad thing! I was barely able to finish my pastry, but it was delicious and tasty. I suppose I didn't have as much of a sweet tooth as my friends. However, the champagne ice cream was on point, and probably my favorite part of our meal. At roughly €2.5 for everything, it is worth every sweet tooth.

This is one of the big time hyped up cafes and for the most part it met that hype. Two things you must get here are the ensaimadas (there are variations -custard filled e.g. and some run out) and the drinking hot chocolate with whipped cream on top. The ensaimadas (approx. 1.30 euros) are this glorious pastry that is some parts beignet and other parts massive unglazed bear claw. That powdered sugar on top looks like cocaine and gives you a sugar rush high that might rival the effects of the narcotic. Maybe they do dash a little bit on there because they can get addicting. We also had the almond cake and the puff pastry which were good but not ensaimadas good. The ensaimadas are the Mallorcan speciality so you really need to try it. I don't have any other places for comparison but this one was especially good. Yelp 100 Challenge 2018 115/100!

Quick place to grab a bite to snake on. You have to have the Mallorca Pastry.... Oh my God good. It is like a Philo dough croissant.

Great pastry shop, the ensaimada was really good, the prices are fair, and the staff is friendly! I would try some other sweets too, combining the cuarto and the coca de patata with a cup of chocolate is a good choice as well.

As Americans, one could be discouraged by the busy and relaxed environment of this cafe. TRUST ME do not be deterred. Service takes a while & the servers are not in a rush to get to you but I promise the pastries, coffee and hot chocolate are amazing !

This was recommended by a local friend. Very busy and bustling coffee shop. Most of the clientele were locals and you could tell that the establishment had long been there. Go here to get the vibe and try an ensymada with cafe con leche to go with it.

Beautiful location and great prices. Order an ensaimada (or whatever else you'd like) and just enjoy your morning (or afternoon).

"50 Shades of Gelato" A short story by Lindsay L…read more It was a exceptionally warm Autumn day and I was in the mood for a something sweet. I knew I had to have it and I wanted it all. Gelato. So creamy, so sweet, so delicious. I slowly walked over to the case, the sun warming up the left side of my face. As I locked my gaze towards the cabinet, I knew this would the ultimate pleasure and yet, leave me completely devastated. After holding my gaze so intently for what seemed to go on forever, I looked up and said, "I'd like a scoop of mentha, please". Immediately I knew that I had chosen the wrong one. What was Coco going to think about me? Would mango ever forgive me? Raspberry, Oh raspberry. I couldn't do it, I couldn't only have one. I needed more. I had to have more. I looked up slyly with the glimmer in my eye and I said, "I'll take 'em all. One of each and every delicious scoop". The attendant gasped and stared, as if I had just told her a deep, dark secret. She asked me "Are you sure?". I then replied, "Yes, it's only because I have to. You don't understand." I took my 50 Shades of Gelato and we rode off into the sun together, our lips locked tight into one another. I had wished that this moment would never end. As the last little bit of gelato turned into liquid resting against my 99.1 degree Fahrenheit (37.3 degree Celsius) tongue, I knew this bliss had come to an end. I only hope that we meet again. Gelato, you are my one and only true love. Ok, ok. Only half of that is true. Everything except for eating one scoop of all 50 flavours. I only had 2, but don't you worry because I will be back for more!
