Trying an Ensaimada from Mallorca was one of my top things to do, and I heard this was the place to go! Overall, my experience was okay, and I was a bit underwhelmed. When we first arrived, we had to wait in line for about 30 minutes, which is typical (no problem at all). We knew what we wanted and ordered right away. We of course got the Ensaimada, apricot ice cream, two iced coffees (it was so hot, so we got iced, (I know what you're thinking, silly Americans)). If I could go back, I would get an espresso or cappuccino because I think it would have paired much better with the pastries. I also asked the server if he had any personal favorites he would recommend, and he brought us a Cuarto (sponge cake). This was not very good in my opinion. It was basically flavorless and very eggy. The Ensaimada was delicious! More oily than I expected, but still very good. I also loved the apricot Ice Cream! As to the service, when we were seated, our server was very dismissive and inattentive. We did not have silverware at our table. No problem. Figured it would be given to us once we got our order. Nope. After we got our food, our server ran away and never came back to us, so I never had the chance to ask for any silverware. Had to eat everything by hand. Thankfully the ice cream came with a spoon. The inside is not huge, and we were seated in a small table tucked away in the corner. Maybe that's why our server basically forgot about us. One tip is that when you're finished and ready to leave, you go to the counter to pay. The server will not come back and hand you your check (at least that's how it worked for us). I could tell there were a lot of locals and Spanish-speaking patrons, so if you're American or don't speak Spanish, don't expect them to be the most friendly. I dont take that too personally, just want to let other people coming here to know what to expect. Overall, I would come here again and recommend it to anyone coming to visit Mallorca. read more

Came here because of the reviews everywhere and although it's a chain it lived up to the hype. It's a come and sit anywhere type of place so if the spot is dirty sit anyway and the server will clean it real quick for you as he takes your order. The menu is very small and I would describe it as a coffee and pastry shop. I order the regular ensaimada, apricot and pumpkin ones!!! The best was the regular then apricot then the Pumpkin jam one. They were super light and dusted to perfection. The hot chocolate was very rich and strong! The meat pie was the only thing I could have lived without as it wasn't very good and barely had any meat in it. The service was fine as the server checked on me and was okay with me speaking English and Spanish. Overall I would recommend and I did return. read more

You can't go wrong at Palma's most coveted cafe! Anybody travelling to the island will need to drop by to try one its famous pastries: the ensaimada Upon walking in, we were greeted with incredible hospitality and smiles from the wait staff. On a Saturday afternoon, the cafe was packed, and we were lucky to find a seat for the four of us. Once we sat down, we quickly ordered an ensaimada each- a warm, coiled shape cake which contained chocolate for ours. We also got a glass of champagne (cava) ice cream to go with the puffball. Let me tell you- it was an INSANE sugar overload, and that was not a bad thing! I was barely able to finish my pastry, but it was delicious and tasty. I suppose I didn't have as much of a sweet tooth as my friends. However, the champagne ice cream was on point, and probably my favorite part of our meal. This is one of the big time hyped up cafes and for the most part it met that hype. Two things you must get here are the ensaimadas (there are variations -custard filled e.g. and some run out) and the drinking hot chocolate with whipped cream on top. The ensaimadas (approx. 1.30 euros) are this glorious pastry that is some parts beignet and other parts massive unglazed bear claw. That powdered sugar on top looks like cocaine and gives you a sugar rush high that might rival the effects of the narcotic. Maybe they do dash a little bit on there because they can get addicting. We also had the almond cake and the puff pastry which were good but not ensaimadas good. The ensaimadas are the Mallorcan speciality so you really need to try it. Great pastry shop, the ensaimada was really good, the prices are fair, and the staff is friendly! I would try some other sweets too, combining the cuarto and the coca de patata with a cup of chocolate is a good choice as well. read more

I tried the almond variety and it was absolutely delicious - light, refreshing, and filled with almond flavor.
