I recently was reminded to leave reviews when I have a good experience. While I have had a few…read moreexperiences here I wanted to focus on my infant's admission to the ER and pediatric unit for care. I was anxious because my child had breathing problems and I had a bad experience in Mississippi a few months prior when my child had bronchiolitis. Here was vastly different. We were taken in right away due to concern maybe food was stuck in the airway. It ended up being a swollen airway instead from choking on a piece of food. Right away, the nurses tried to distract him, comfort us, providing toy and blanket. During a particular difficult exam the nurses held my child for me because it was clearly going to upset my baby. I was already shocked at how kind everyone was after my last experience. Once admitted for care the nurses informed me they had someone who would come by with toys/DVDs to distract my baby as well as watch my infant briefly so I could move my car parked in ER area. My husband was out of town so I appreciated the help. I was worried about managing all the wires attached, but a nurse also provided a onesie so we could cover all the wiring and a brace was made to prevent the IV from coming loose/baby grabbing it. Again with rushing to the ER I had little to nothing so the blanket and onesie were much appreciated. At night a nurse even offered to watch my baby briefly so I could leave the room for a few minutes while he slept. Also, when my baby threw up a nurse who happened to be very pregnant immediately came to change the bed while I washed and cleaned him up. They even brought a highchair for him to eat. I can't really express the difference in care compared to what I had in Mississippi. There I was made to feel like an overbearing burden who demanded too much help, but no one ever made me feel like that here. I even told the pediatrician overseeing my child at CentraCare that when we had wanted to be discharged early from the last hospital in MS the doctor told us our insurance wouldn't pay for anything without his approval of release. To which the pediatrician here said we could leave early if we like. The manner was completely different. I was pleasantly shocked by the level of kindness and care here. And I remembered why I enjoy living here.

The hospital is really clean and you must wear your face masks. :-) When I came in, the security guard got me a wheelchair and wheeled me to the desk to check in, while my husband parked. I was checked in really fast, and than went to get my vitals done and etc. Five minutes later, Dr. Nolan and Nurse Taylor. I described my issue and was diagnosed with Piriformis syndrome. I am in so much pain with my back and legs. Thank God I am really healthy, just this pain and muscle spasms. I was given two prescriptions, and before I left, I was given some medicine to relieve me from the pain. I will be fine in a few days. Thank you Dr. Nolan, Nurse Taylor and staff. My visit was nice.

Dangerous hospital!…read more Some of the most incompetent staff in a hospital I've ever had to deal with. Absolutely nobody bothered to read my chart at all. Evidently , they don't even give you lifesaving blood clotting medications at saint cloud hospital before your procedures anymore. That's right if you need Humate-P they will make you go off-site to an infusion center. Since when can't a hospital administer a life saving blood clotting , medication? I finally got a staff member to admit they won't adminestor it there anymore because I would be taking up a bed for too long. And they could put another patient in that bed , and that's why I need to leave the facility to get my life saving medication. When I asked , what would happen if I would require a second dose of this medication , because that has happened , many times before , I was told I would have to leave to get another dose. So if I was to have surgery or a medical procedure , I would be required to leave the hospital after surgery , even to get another dose of Humate-P. This new policy of theirs , will kill people. I have had two surgeries in the past at this hospital and this has never been required before. Whoever has changed this and made it a policy for someone to have to leave to get a life saving blood clotting medication before and after procedures or surgeries is an IDIOT. So to everyone who requires extra medications like Humate-P before or after a medical procedure or surgery , this is not a safe hospital for you to be at. You are now required to go offsite to an infusion center to get life saving blood clotting medication. Shame on you for this dumb policy!
