I recently was reminded to leave reviews when I have a good experience. While I have had a few experiences here I wanted to focus on my infant's admission to the ER and pediatric unit for care. I was anxious because my child had breathing problems and I had a bad experience in Mississippi a few months prior when my child had bronchiolitis. Here was vastly different. We were taken in right away due to concern maybe food was stuck in the airway. It ended up being a swollen airway instead from choking on a piece of food. Right away, the nurses tried to distract him, comfort us, providing toy and blanket. During a particular difficult exam the nurses held my child for me because it was clearly going to upset my baby. I was already shocked at how kind everyone was after my last experience. Once admitted for care the nurses informed me they had someone who would come by with toys/DVDs to distract my baby as well as watch my infant briefly so I could move my car parked in ER area. My husband was out of town so I appreciated the help. I was worried about managing all the wires attached, but a nurse also provided a onesie so we could cover all the wiring and a brace was made to prevent the IV from coming loose/baby grabbing it. Again with rushing to the ER I had little to nothing so the blanket and onesie were much appreciated. At night a nurse even offered to watch my baby briefly so I could leave the room for a few minutes while he slept. Also, when my baby threw up a nurse who happened to be very pregnant immediately came to change the bed while I washed and cleaned him up. They even brought a highchair for him to eat. I can't really express the difference in care compared to what I had in Mississippi. There I was made to feel like an overbearing burden who demanded too much help, but no one ever made me feel like that here. I even told the pediatrician overseeing my child at CentraCare that when we had wanted to be discharged early from the last hospital in MS the doctor told us our insurance wouldn't pay for anything without his approval of release. To which the pediatrician here said we could leave early if we like. The manner was completely different. I was pleasantly shocked by the level of kindness and care here. And I remembered why I enjoy living here. read more

Went to emergency room at 3 am ! 12 patients waiting! Nurse says that guys been waiting 5 hours already!! Totally unacceptable

I was a patient on the Orthopedic floor (6th) of the St. Cloud Hospital for 6 days last week. I came in on emergency, and had both femurs treated. One broken, the other frail. The staff was above and beyond anything I could have imagined. They were 100% engaged in giving compassionate care to their patients. They were a high-functioning team, respectful to patients AND to each other. They brought their technical skills together with compassion and professionalism to everyone's benefit. These professionals are the future of healthcare and are poised to lead the way into what healthcare should be going forward: Professional, dedicated and caring. St. Cloud Hospital has to retain more people like this in order to keep serving the public. I thank the team from the bottom of my heart for taking such good care of me. read more

12 26 25 fell and broke my elbow. Started out at princeton er. Was there about 4 hrs. Then princeton er dr said I have to go by ambulance to st cloud. This dr communicated with st cloud orthopedic. Led me to believe I was having surgery. Get to st cloud er and put me in the waiting room with 40 people before me. The whole time I thought I was getting a bed, turns out I was waiting for a rm to see me. Pain meds wore off hrs ago. Once I got a rm was in there for 3hrs. I hadn't had anything to drink or eat since 8:30 AM. Got a pain pill at midnight. Worst experience of my life. 13 1/2 hrs of Bs and no surgery. read more

Quality of care is awful! It was disappointing to rarely experience good nurses, drs and care teams. There were some. But not often. Instead most nurses wanted to provide heavy narcotics to put the patient to sleep. Seemed to be lazy and not wanting to "deal" with the patient or have a sitter with the patient. The nurses and drs lied and we would catch them in lies. I tried to talk to patient relations and they had the charge nurse came to talk to me in the patient room!!! It was disrespectful and lacked any problem solving. The charge nurse did this With the door wide open to the hallway and brought several other nurses with to listen in. There was NO privacy or dignity for the patient. And she was so smug to try and explain why they can't return calls. And said they provided services that othered had said had not been done. When I told her she was contradicting what the other nurse just told me and stated this is why I was not trusting them. She just said the patient was getting. "Good care". After that "conversation " they started to change their documentation. Thank goodness for screenshots to show the inconsistency. read more

We did not want or need Er. St Cloud does not listen and learn on phone. We wanted to have her VP shunt valve reset. 5 mn procedure. Her Ins company and her care team and her all called St Cloud for a simple clinic visit with a surgical nurse to reset the valve St Cloud put in. That Dept has the Medronic Tool to do so. Only Dept at St Cloud. Instead we spent 4 hours in St Cloud Er dept. Er Doc said we don't normally call Nero Surgery. We were shocked he listened to us and called them. Er Doc learned my better half was right, Valve was at 1.5. Nurse reset it to 1.0. Amazing. She knows something about her own body. read more

St. Cloud Hospital is a complete joke. Yesterday afternoon is a good example. A dear friend of mine was taken to urgent care by her worker people at urgent care center to the ER because of leg spasms. She gets to the ER. They put her in a room and she lays there three hours later nothing being done nor has she been seen by any one of us the inept doctors who work there. Two of MARY's other friends picked her up and took her to the Princeton Hospital. She was seen immediately in the ER and by a doctor and test run. Her potassium was very low. That's what was causing the spasms in her legs. They admitted her to a room, gave her intervenous potassium and a prescription for potassium and she was back home.. by the time MARY got home at 10:30 PM from Princeton. She would've still been lying in the ER at St. Cloud hospital not being treated.. Blood was drawn but the results were never told to Mary. it is common practice at St. Cloud Hospital even if you brought in by an ambulance if you are awake, they could very well put you into the waiting room on a stretcher and leave you there until somebody cares enough to treat you . There's no reason why a hospital this size should make people wait in a waiting room or in an intensive care room for hours on end ,this is no joke. That hospital spends millions on renovations and to what end? Patient care is horrendous!! The doctors on staff after 4 PM are just interns. They are not real doctors yet. This is just a residential hospital for them and there's a lot of decisions they're not allowed to make without an ok from a real doctor first So, in in the meantime, the patient suffers from the delay and nobody seems to care. There are yearly ratings that put them at the second or third best hospital in Minnesota yet they treat their patients the way they do with disrespect ! I don't doubt for a minute that lies are told and money exchanged for those ratings. read more

I loved the nurses at the NICU. Every one of them deserves 5 stars. Unfortunately, the doctors will hold your baby hostage and refuse to release your baby for any number of reasons. They held my baby prisoner because she wasn't drinking a full bottle every 3 hours. Multiple days they refused to release, not because of any real health concerns (she had already been cured of that!). She just wouldn't chug a whole bottle in 10 minutes every three hours. Because you know, babies always eat the way you want them to. They then said they would report to cps if we took the child home. Mind you, this doctor had only actually come in to see my child one time in the 4 days he had been "attending" her. Meanwhile my postnatal wife with raging hormones is sobbing and begging them to go home. Super healthy to send a baby home with a mom who was stressed from all of that right? I'll bet she produces plenty and the baby definitely won't notice that stress! Garbage doctor. The doctors don't care about you, they want to keep you because every day is more $$. Every nurse, nurse practitioner, case, and floor manager suggested we go home... even my primary care physician called in to say as our primary caregiver he suggests us going home. So avoid this place, go to any other nicu, or beg your primary to take care of your baby. I hate suggesting this, but honestly your kid will do better if they just avoid these "doctors" at St. Cloud. read more

My dad fell and hurt his arm and chest. We went to urgent care first, and because he has heart problems and is on blood thinners they sent us to the er. We arrived and had to do a security check. Then we walk in to ER with over 60 people needing seen. It was people sick, people injured and people that were in fights. Cops in and out the entire time we were there. Ignorant people taking time of critical patients. It took them over an hour to see my dad for just his vitals. HEART CONDITION! Then they brought him back to sit in the waiting room. His arm was bleeding and oozing and looked ready to explode. Another 2 hours after that they came to get X-rays of his arm and chest. Then they brought him back to wait! 1 hour later I went to the front desk complaining that he has a heart condition and was light headed. The nurses told me,"we know, our hospital is out of control. We lost a bunch of nurses and doctors due to COVID pandemic and we haven't had luck getting new ones." I work in healthcare, this is not how a hospital should be ran. They would take 5 people in at a time then send them out like herding cattle. We left at the fifth hour. And when we did that they said that no broken bones were seen. Because he is on blood thinners, the hematoma was ginormous. Which I knew it would need to be drained and monitored for blood clots even though he was on blood thinners. This was a serious issue, or we wouldn't have come to the ER. I will drive an hour away to a different hospital if I ever have another issue! read more

The care might be ok but their visitor policy is ridiculous. Father-in-law in ICU and only 2 people can be on the visitor list for "the entire stay." Not, two people per visit- the entire stay. Saw a family crying in the main waiting room. It is unconscionable to make a family deal with loss in such a public place. They blamed it on "Covid procedures" but their screening was simply one question - "any Covid symptoms?" read more

Dr. Kyle Martin is a wonderful physician. He is not only extremely competent but is a personable doctor. He did a hip repair for me 1.5 years ago. I had been to another doctors group in town but they dismissed me because of my age. ( I was to suffer until I need a total hip). But Dr. Martin looked at me as an individual and was honest, open, and explained the pros and cons of repair. The surgery has allowed me to live pain free, start running for the first time in my life, I lost weight because I was pain free finally, and it was because of his skills as a surgeon and our working together in a good patient doctor relationship. He is THE BEST! read more

I have worked in healthcare for over 20 years. My Dad suddenly became very ill around Thanksgiving and we ended up taking him to St Cloud Centracare Emergency Room. Everyone went above and beyond when caring for my Dad from the minute we entered the facility. My Dad was admitted and we ended up being there for over a week. I can't say enough positive things about the entire campus. We never had one "bad experience" the entire time we were there. When you are given terrible news and an even worse prognosis it stands to reason that you start off with a wide range of emotions which makes it difficult for the staff to make you feel positive about what's happening to you. There are so many layers to the caregiving team, which to me include housekeeping and maintenance to the Director of the Campus. Every single person that we came into contact with treated my Dad and our family with professionalism, kindness, care, empathy and compassion. But all that aside, we felt confident and trusted them with his life. Essentially that is what it all comes down to, they are there to save lives or do the best they can even if that isn't in the stars. Do NOT pay this provider anything they ask for at the time of service. Wait to play anything until AFTER insurance processes your claim!! Estimated charges were paid at time of service, when claim came through, they misbilled for service. They said it was an in person visit, but i have copies of the doctors notes showing it was a virtual visit. Insurance covered virtual visits due to covid safety at 100%, but in person was still covered at deductible + 20%. I called the office to advise they need to correct billing to reflect that it was a virtual visit not an in person visit. The Clinic said need to contact billing, billing said need to contact clinic. They acknowledge they see it was a virtual visit but no one would fix the billing. I've worked for insurance for over 15 years, i know this is something the provider is supposed to retract/correct and resubmit. This is not something the insurance can fix, as by law, they have to pay it based on the way the provider bills. read more

I can't say enough about how my husband was treated here he was ambulanced from Monticello to St Cloud . He had dr Peterson who saw him first she was profession and thorough really took the time to explain everything to me . ( it took a horrible life event and made it easier) she had him stay in Icu to be sure he received the care he needed .In Icu we had dr Hussein another professional easy to talk to dr . Later he saw dr Peterson again after Icu he was brought to the 6 floor Christina the nurse was so professional and on top of everything I felt very safe having my husband there . Christina really cared about my husbands care . Upon coming from Icu to another room they have a system check of the patients health that was all done . Christina if you see this thank you for caring so much for your patients ! Upon leaving the hospital I got lost I asked a gentle men for help ( he worked in janitorial ) he actually walked me to elevators and saw my way out !! Amazing people !! read more

Horrible experience in CCU! Staff all backstabbing each other in front of my grandmother which was a patient there and will never go back there again! Even spoke with unit Director Kristin? She seemed nice at first then it was like her head spun and she was nasty! Especially during a follow up after my grandmother left the hospital! What kind of leader is that? Staff was even stating that she is really nasty to her RNs there and several have had to quit to get away from the constant harassment!! I feel bad as the few nurses I spoke with seemed afraid of her saying "once she starts in on you, it's impossible to get her to stop!" Not a Nice environment for patients and definitely not for staff. Karma will hopefully come her way!! read more
