The lobby under renovation while we were staying there. No signage. No safety tape. No kidding.
    Michael H.

Do not stay here. Let me repeat. Do - not - stay - here. This is the first bad review I've bothered to write on Yelp. Usually I'm only willing to take the time to endorse places I'm particularly enthusiastic about. This place was so memorably awful that I couldn't live with myself unless I vented publicly. The advertised price of the room was $69. When I called, after letting me know their computer system was down and then calling me back an hour later, they quoted me $129. I was making a last-minute request and didn't feel like bargaining, so I let it go. When we showed up, the whole lobby was undergoing a gut renovation. (Surprise.) Hammering, electric saws, exposed electrical wiring, construction workers cursing up a storm. The works. Proper signage? Roping off the area for customer safety? Nope. The room key didn't work, so we went down and got another. Then we went out to dinner and when we returned to the room, the new key didn't work. The room itself was so disgusting that my girlfriend and I couldn't bring ourselves to sleep in the sheets, but just jacked the heat and slept on top of the bed instead. The shower was full of grime and mold, so we didn't shower either. Also, when we were out at dinner, someone had been in our room. We double-checked before to make sure the main light and bathroom fan light were both off. We returned (after the second key failed and we had to go back down and get a third) and both lights were on. We went down and told the front desk, and they just responded that we were remembering wrong and no one had been in our room. When we told them--albeit rather emphatically--we'd double-checked, they said they didn't have time for this and walked away. At checkout, a different guy was at the front desk and we again let him know someone had been in our room between 5:30-10:30 the night before. Now it was "one of the cleaning crew." Nope. We had taken the dirty comforter off earlier and it was clear no cleaning had been done to the room in the meantime. We never did get the answer to that one. When we checked out, we let them know there was no way we were paying full price based on the level of service we received. The guy at the front desk responds, "Okay, can I see your driver's license?" What? I'm all for preserving historical buildings, but not when they're literally crumbling as you stay in them. The people who work here are indifferent and frustrating. This place should just give up and sell to a nice sleazy developer who will build cheap condominiums in their place.

Did they not check the room? I don't think they cleaned the room because when we got in there where peanuts near the bed and trail mix in the desk chair.... the carpet was a little run down. The area has the cozy old town feeling, so I understand the vintage look but this place looks a bit run down. The checkin lobby was small so if more than one party is checkin you feel a bit cramped. The rooms were large but the bathroom was small. But since it was four girls in the room, the extra space was nice for getting ready for the wedding we were attending. Coming back later that night they front lobby smelled of weed... the front desk attendant wasn't at the desk but I don't know if they are suppose to be there at 1130 at night?? Either way someone feeling good....

We enjoyed the old movie and music theme in this updated prior rectory. After spending the last several years of travel in hotels and Airbnb's, we have come to remember how personal and inviting B&Bs are. This particular one, however, is one of the best. The BB is two blocks from Warren Street for quick access to restaurants and shops. There is also a retail shop on Warren Street where you can spot many of the unique items from the house. The shop is very well curated. We stayed in Room 5 which has a private deck off the room that my husband used every morning and evening. It's the room with the beautifully updated blue bathroom. The only thing missing from the room and the bathroom was brighter light - our eyes no longer perform as well in dim lighting! We spent most of the mornings and afternoons on several hikes throughout the area - all of them peaceful and beautiful. The waterfalls at the end were stunning.

The breakfasts in the morning were banging yummy. The rooms were quiet, quaint and well appointed. Great bathroom products and the bedding was super. Decor is very music and movie oriented which was also fun. Here's a pic if breakfast bacon grilled cheese topped with eggs Benedict and local tomato salad.

I liked that it was closer…read moreto shops, galleries, and restaurants on the west side of Warren St that I had missed during a previous visit. The Nautical Nest is the second property of the owners of Nest Hudson. Of the four units, I booked a second floor room with a balcony after researching details on several third party websites. As the name suggests, the room had a nautical theme with a well-chosen decor and nice finishes. It included a king-sized bed (very comfortable mattress), chest of drawers topped with a beverage station, and a desk. The bathroom was bright, with great quality towels and strong shower pressure. Nest Hudson shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner were provided. My favorite feature, however, was the Nespresso coffeemaker in the room! This was very convenient, and I was happy to have a high quality coffee everyday. I also enjoyed the balcony for morning coffee and to relax later in the day. An outdoor patio is next to the building. There is also a communal kitchen with a small fridge, microwave, and tea kettle that some guests seemed to use quite often. Individually wrapped snacks and tea are located there, and replenished every few days. A few tips: 1. The Nautical Nest listings on multiple third party websites state that there is "free parking." In reality, it is free STREET parking. Fortunately, I visited during a less busy week, so I was able to secure parking on the same street as the hotel, City Hall Pl, most days. However, parking is not allowed there from 9pm Wednesday to 8am Thursday, so I moved my car to the nearby Union St. Unfortunately, Union St is subject to alternate street parking rules. There is no signage to indicate which is an "even" vs "odd" side of the street, so a ticket will be issued if you park on the wrong side of the street. I was unaware of this parking issue prior to booking my reservation. I notified the owners to update their third party website listings. They may also want to arrange parking for guests in a nearby municipal lot as some other hotels on Warren St have done. 2. The Nautical Nest is an older building, so floors and stairs are creaky. You will hear anyone who is up and about early, including housekeeping. If your room has a window A/C unit, street noise will be quite audible (road construction, back up truck alarms, etc). I purchased ear plugs after waking up to the sound of a jack hammer the first morning of my stay. Prior to my arrival, I also received two requests to "keep noise at a minimum" and "be mindful of other guests" in informational emails from management. I also received an additional reminder when notified that my room was ready for check in. Although I understand the intent, I thought this was a bit much. Overall, the Nautical Nest is a quality boutique hotel. I enjoyed my room as it was quite spacious and comfortable. Although I was stressed about the parking situation, other guests may be less concerned. If you are a "morning person," the sounds inside and outside of the building may not be bothersome.

There is absolutely no other place with better value. As seen in all other reviews, Barry could not be a better host. He gave us detailed recommendations on everything we asked for, and even called a bar, Helsinki, to check if there were any tables left as this place has minimal standing room (only he knew this as he is the expert on everything in town). Then, again we booked last-minute train tickets back home and gave him just 20 minutes notice. Barry insisted on making us breakfast-to-go and driving us to the train station there even though we had time to walk. In just 5 minutes, Barry made us the most savory yet simple sandwich (which was the topic of conversation for part of the train ride back.) His breakfast was the best meal we had during our entire weekend in Hudson - 100% fact. Eating breakfast outside on the porch was one of my favorite parts of the entire trip. Location is walking distance from the best shopping and food in Hudson, as well as Amtrak. If anyone else is looking, this is the only place I'd recommend.
