The teachers are not only dedicated and knowledgeable, but they also genuinely care about the students. We were looking for small class sizes and found it here. This has allowed for personalized attention, and we've seen huge improvements in both confidence and understanding across all subjects. What really sets Word of Life apart is the well-rounded education they provide. Our girls have had opportunities to explore music, drama, and sports, which has helped them discover new passions and develop valuable life skills. My oldest daughter was able to preform in the school drama, while my youngest attended art club. My middle child found a new passion for basketball. Most importantly, the strong Christian values and character-building woven into daily life at school have made a lasting impact on our family. We feel incredibly blessed to be part of this community and highly recommend Word of Life Christian Academy to anyone looking for a nurturing, faith-based school where children can truly flourish.

The current principal presents as a kind person in public meetings, when the Pastor is around, and I suppose for parents of younger children. Her entire character changes, once you make it clear that accountability should go both ways. The principal is easily offended, retaliatory, and prejudiced-at least 3 parents have shared similar experiences. She is unwilling to account for various family experiences, and communication styles. During my time at the school, my children experienced various forms of discrimination regarding discipline policies, grading, and access! The middle school program is very poorly managed. The academics, elective courses, and overall teacher effectiveness are seriously lacking. I have only experienced 1 solid core teacher (who really should be the lead), and MAYBE 2 solid elective teachers. The students are not treated with respect or trust. Some wealthy families have their student's poor behavior excused, while other families are consistently mistreated. When brought to the attention of the principal, she sits quiet in meetings and allows the middle school "lead teacher" to lead any outcomes down a destructive and non truthful path. The Principal and many other staff members have difficulty holding this middle school lead accountable. Inasmuch as parents want to be involved as partner's in their children's learning, this school only allows that if you are agreeable with everything they currently do. They have handpicked the parents that receive patience, kindness, and grace. They have also handpicked the parents who will receive resistance, retaliation, and prejudice. None of which represent the Christian character they claim to lead in. If you are a parent who asks questions, and expects accountability and respect to go both ways-this is NOT the school for you. I think the only reason they have the enrollment they do, is because they keep their tuition lower than the Christian K-12 School that is one block away from them. They are basically undercutting a nearby school. You can see both schools from the road and many families need the tuition costs to remain affordable. Unfortunately, what you are getting in return is a hypocritical school, who claims to love Jesus and lead with love, but when challenged, are the furthest away from demonstrating that when it matters most.

It did take us a few years to get in because we didn't start applying until my kids were in upper elementary and middle school grades but it was worth every second of the wait. The staff is unbelievably kind and supportive, from support staff to teachers to the Administrators. ICS has wonderfully robust programming for a private school. They also create so many opportunities for families to serve and partner with the school. If strong Christian values and character building are at the top of your list for your family in a private school, ICS will exceed all your expectations.

The academics challenge students beyond all expectations, and our son feels energized to learn and excel. The Strings Orchestra provides a rich musical opportunity for our son whose talent as a violinist shines bright. Athletics and club activities provide many opportunities for additional growth. Not only did each week have a fun and creative theme, they were also loaded with field trips and swimming. They also really connected with the Christian songs and instructions. My eldest child would come home in the evenings and YouTube videos of the songs they learned at camp. Both kids sing and do hand motions to the songs. I LOVE seeing them this excited about the Bible! As a parent knowing my kids are happy is super important. I also need to know that they are safe. I really felt like the camp did a great job with this as well. The doors are secure, they adhere to a buddy system and I was ID'd during pickup when new teachers did not know me at the beginning of summer. My interactions with the staff (counselors and front staff) has all been professional. One time my youngest child had a sore belly. They called me and kept him in the office until I arrived. They were also very helpful with any other questions and concerns I had. We are not members of this church or school but due to such a great summer experience we attended a service and it truly felt like home. What a great place!

Dressing up to go to Sunday School/Church rubbed me the wrong way. If I wasn't comfortable in what I wore, my attention to church was nonexistent. This is when I was much younger. Still today I am glad to see Church goers wearing everyday clothing and not necessarily the monkey suit. Anyhow, after talking with the pastor for the second time, I find him very laid back and cool to talk to. In the back of my mind i wondered what could be today's lesson in church? Today's Lesson: The Storm Have you ever had a personal storm in your life? Well today's lesson. Started out with how weather people...no,...meteorologist decided to name storms after women. This was later changed to men an women's name. Some of the names of selected storms have a deeper meaning than others. The lesson in short was to keep hope in what you do, because without hope, you might be battling a storm physically, mentally or both for a long time. I don't go to Church very often, but this place gives off good vibes even if I still don't know many of the people there. My wife says the main reason for being there is God. Anything else is an added bonus. I am not as into the Lord as she is, but I will say this. The music, how I feel then I am there and the history of lessons learned keep me coming back for more. I find it fascinating how things I learned in school, specifically Western/Eastern Civilization and American History had bites and peices of things I am now hearing from The Bible. I am moving at a snail's pace come paired to my wife. Yet I don't believe there is a set speed for religion. If there is, my God will have to have patience. Still, I am on a Journey of self discovery. Who knows what I will discover next week.

When the service ended, the Pastor instructed everyone to come over and "greet" me again because I returned to the church a second time. This made me very very very uncomfortable. Several members came over asking lots of questions and selling me on the greatness of the church. Because it was overwhelming and made me feel uncomfortable, I have not returned to the church. I prefer a more suttle welcome. When I go to church I want to hear the word, fellowship, and then go home. I don't like the personalized "visitor" attention and know that my friends don't either so they would never attend with me. If you want alot of specialized visitor attention on more than one occasion and lots of love, well then this is the place for you. They may do this because the congregation is small [about 10-15 adults] but its more than I am looking for at this time. OVERALL: ~ I have visited this church twice and the messages were both awesome. The church is small for the number of parishioners there now. If you are not 10-15 minutes prior, you will be standing in the back. We have been there for 3 years and routinely come 20 minutes early. I love this parish, but I'll admit that I do not like the actual chapel one bit. The design of the church is the most convoluted and confused attempt at 60s era multi-use. Much like the saying 'a camel is a horse designed by committee', it seems everyone on the design group got to choose a shape, material, and architectural style. I've spent many, many hours wondering what in the world they were trying to achieve. After 150+ masses, I haven't the foggiest clue. The horrid church is more than made up by the best clergy I've had the fortune of being with in 25 years of military travel. Each priest has a tone and style that is unique and works well. The sermons are by far the best part of the mass.
