Sadly, that sense of inclusion is gone. I hope one day it becomes that kind of space again, but right now I wouldn't recommend it to families looking for a safe or supportive environment.

He seems to LOVE school, pointing and smiling upon arrival... we love the convenience of walking to/from school daily. No true down side - there will always be people who aren't 100% happy, but I have learned if you ask for feedback/ let issues be known, they are resolved promptly. When we figured out where we would be living we started our search for daycares and wound up deciding to do a tour of this daycare. The daycare seems very nice and I really liked what they had to offer so we decided to get on the waitlist for the summer. We were directed to go to their website and pay a $100 waitlist fee. We were also told that because we were military we shouldn't have a hard time getting into the school and the summer had good turnover. When the summer came we contacted the school because we were a couple months away from needing daycare and had not heard a single thing from them. I called, spoke to someone who claimed they could help with enrollment and they confirmed they had us on the waitlist and they said yes, you definitely will have a spot even if it's maybe a week after you requested.I followed up again a couple weeks later and heard the same thing but nothing was ever solidified, it was always don't worry, we'll call you. Today, 10 months after my baby was born I can say I've never heard from them. They just took our $100 and never followed through. Being a first time mom and being stressed out about going back to work I didn't want to continue to stress out about maybe getting into this daycare and having to hound them so we decided to shop around. We found a fantastic daycare that we love in downtown Alexandria. It still irritates me that they took $100 from us and didn't bat an eye. I knew going into it that it was a non-refundable $100, however I expected at the very least for me to hear about getting in or not- even if it was a rejection. It's frustrating how stressful it was for me when it didn't need to be so be warned- prepare to have to keep on top of this daycare or even just waste $100! Good luck!

This school is a wonderful Christian based preschool. the kids get to move around the school to enjoy different areas (math room, pretend den, art room, etc) so that they don't spend all their time in one classroom. the teachers and administrators are wonderful and care deeply about the children. We were most interested in this day care facility because they had separate rooms for infants. My primary concern with most places we had visited was that my daughter (was 3 mo. at the time) would be in the same room with children who were 1 and could walk. Not a Creme! They have 3 different infant rooms so your child is with other children at the same development stage. Infant A for immobile, Infant B for the crawlers, and Infant C for the learning-to-walkers. I went back a couple times before making my final decision and each time, I was welcomed by name and they always asked about my daughter (by name). It just felt right! Now, almost two years later, my daughter is moving into Gard 2 (Preschool), so the fun is really beginning. She will move between rooms, including the gym, library, art room, etc. She is excited every morning to go to "school" and play with her friends. She is greeted by name by every teacher in the building, even those teachers she will not see for another couple years. She receives a daily report of things that happened during the day and little notes of special successes (e.g., the first time she took steps or used the potty). My friends and family are amazed at her vocabulary, hand eye coordination and her general knowledge and understanding of things going on around her. While I would like to think I'm a super parent or have a genius child, I give much of the credit to the wonderful care givers at this school. While the school is rather expensive, the benefits are amazing. For example, there is no need to bring diapers, wipes, or food (once your child eats solid foods)...all is supplied; enrichment teachers focus on particular subjects (art, music, computers, sports); indoor AND outdoor play spaces, including a water park (how cool is that!?); and caring staff that my child hugs every day (and she doesn't hug just anyone). I know I am missing things but...basically, this place leaves me with a peace of mind that my child is in great hands, well cared for and loved, and is being set with an educational foundation that is sure to help her for years to come. When we found LaPetite Academy of Alexandria, we found peace of mind. My daughter's teachers are, without question, two of the best pre-K educators I have encountered in two decades in this field. The quality of their practice, relationships with children, and the intentionality behind every interaction is the kind of thing you cannot fake and cannot train quickly. What sealed it for me is the staff longevity. In this industry, turnover tells you everything. For my daughter, I was looking for the quality of education and the richness of the environment. For my two-year-old son, my priority shifted to something more fundamental: Would he feel safe? Would his basic needs be met with consistency and warmth by people he could learn to trust? Staff longevity answers both questions. Children that age need familiar faces, and the stability of this team gave me confidence. The fact that this team has stayed, and clearly chosen to stay, speaks to leadership, culture, and a genuine commitment to the children in their care. That stability matters for young children, and it matters even more when you have two kids building trust with the same people over time. We were concerned after changing daycares so quickly, but my only regret is not moving sooner. The staff at La Petite is professional, kind, and good with the kids. If you're looking to prepare your kids for school, you can't do better than Ms. Nikki and Mr. Brandon in the Pre-K room. Ms. Dee and Ms. Jackie, the school directors, are easy to work with. Moving to La Petite was the best decision we made. The staff, the app, the cameras, everything-- I can't sing La Petite's praises enough.
