I was in awe when we walked into this empty church and looked around. It's a UNESCO World Heritage site and is my favourite church in Bavaria. The insides are done in traditional Bavarian style with beautiful paintings all throughout and beautifully sculpted walls and statues. Take the time to sit down and observe all the detail and enjoy the peaceful surrounding of the church. A must visit in Bavaria.

We walked here from Grunwald tram stop and it takes about 3-3.5 hrs to walk it. The terrain is not smooth and there are quite a few uphill downhill parts. When it's wet you also have the added complexity of trying to navigate through mud and clay. A fabulous walk I would highly recommend if you like walking and want to spend a day exploring the beautiful countryside and visiting this gorgeous church. There is also a wonderful biergarten 50m from the church to stop for lunch and so on. I like old Bavarian churches and monasteries and this is no exception.

The beautiful Church of the Holy Ghost is located between the Town Hall and the large…read moreViktualienmarkt in the very centre of Munich, but easily overlooked by visitors. Founded in the 13th Century alongside a hospital for lepers and the lame, the first Church burned down; after some 60 years, the core of the present building was completed in 1392 in the gothic style. However, like many Bavarian churches of the period, it was completely remodelled inside in 1724-30 in the Baroque style, in this case featuring frescoes by the Asam brothers (who built the nearby Asamkirche), although the essential Gothic structure is easy to work out beneath the stucco. The frescoes depict the history of the hospital, which was demolished in the late 19th Century to make way for the market. Well worth a quick detour to visit.

You get amazing panoramic views from the church, and it is a great location to meditate and pray at with its peaceful ambience. Nearby there were trails that led towards the philosophenweg and the cable car station. We saw many locals walking their dogs or doing hikes up the area.
