However, everything else is crap. Stayed here for two nights. Within that time I realized that the hostel is located between Stanley and the famous Mathew Street. That wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't SO noisy at night whether the windows are open or closed. Note, we were on the Mathew Street side. The automatic doors at the entrance don't work properly and are slow to open/close. The lower levels of the hostel are smelly and unfinished. The lockers are extremely small so don't bet on leaving your regular sized luggage and to top things off the kitchen and laundry were out of service. There are vending machines on the ground floor, computers free of charge, a few chairs and an arcade game HOWEVER, I suggest not playing. It ate £2 and when I addressed this to staff they assumed it was my fault and did nothing to compensate. They give you nothing and have signs everywhere with warnings that if you do anything remotely stupid you will be charged. It was reasonably priced for the room arrangement we had - 4 bedroom ensuite - but the walls and ceilings of the beds were full of scratches and dirt. They did not come into the rooms to clean therefore if you stay longer beware it might get unhygenic. The bathroom sink is small which is to be expected since we're in Europe but the problem is the shelve directly above. It doesn't give you a chance if you want to wash your face and not get a tremendous amount of water on the floor. The shower had no shelves to put any of your tomorrows on and the WC/toilet had very little space or surfaces as well. The room is supplied with lockers to store your bags but you'd need a lock to fully secure it. Random artwork all over the hostel and rooms, a bit weird style if you ask me. Overall this place is conveniently located and has okay accommodations but probably better off elsewhere that's a bit nicer and friendlier.

Lifts, bag storage, secure lockers, kitchen facilities, chill out area and a bar. They are a short walk from the train station, and about the same distance to the Albert Docks. So very well located, and conveniently with a taxi rank right outside should you need one. I didn't have time in the mornings to try their breakfasts, as I was up and out early each day of my stay. I will however highly recommend them and certainly stay again when next in Liverpool. Point to note: Rooms on the back of the building are above several night clubs which play loud music all night every night of my stay - Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon. So if you are a light sleeper the other side of the building may be better for you.

You absolutely get what you pay for here, and I suggest looking at other hostels or Airbnb's if you ever visit Liverpool. Here are my complaints: 1. There was literally a hole in my mattress. Like someone punched a hole through the bed. 2. No one was available to check me in. They essentially left a key in my room and told me to deal with it. 3. The bathrooms are shared and unkempt. They smell like piss and none of the stalls had toilet paper. 4. The room smelled moldy. 5. The door did not lock. Now, I arrived to this hostel after a full workday, 3 hour drive to Pittsburgh, connecting flight through Reykjavik to Dublin, spent the entire day in Dublin, and then flew to Liverpool at 8 pm on the second day. Needless to say, I was completely exhausted and still considered leaving when I saw the state of the place. If I was a female, I would never ever have stayed here. This place is a shithole, and this is coming from someone who has a very low bar that needs to be met for me to be content.

Anyway, I found the Everton Hostel to be quite a cozy place in spite of its very unassuming exterior appearance (I remember that more than one home on the terrace had been boarded up). What really impressed me however was the friendliness of the staff and how well they accommodated my circumstances. I was given a ride from Lime Street station to the hostel very soon after arriving and was allowed to bypass the check out deadline due to the fact that I wouldn't be able to bring my belongings into the Liverpool match. In sum, this would be a very suitable place for anyone just looking to stay in the city long enough to catch a football match. However, for those looking to experience the city proper I would take a look at options closer to the city center.

Finally got a reply and was told they don't reserve bunks and that it's first come first served. That's not very accommodating. Customers come from all kinds of backgrounds but when I was there, it was mainly international students. The Inn is known for its free weekly activities - there is a free nachos night, a pancake day, scouse (a lamb or beef stew whose name comes from Norway and was commly eated by sailors in Northern Europe) night and even a chocolate fountain night. The staff speak many languages and are very willing to help where they can. Dorm beds are from £15 a night with bedding provided. Its well equipped with TV lounge , pool table and equipped kitchen with free tea and coffee plus all the rooms have bathrooms. There is no curfew.
