I was pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable my stay here was. I booked a bed here purely for reasons of minimizing cost and being as close to Anfield as possible. For reasons I can't quite recall, I wasn't able to stay a full 24 hours in the city when I came up from London. Essentially, I came up late at night, watched the Liverpool match the next day (it was an early kickoff) and caught the train back immediately afterward.
Anyway, I found the Everton Hostel to be quite a cozy place in spite of its very unassuming exterior appearance (I remember that more than one home on the terrace had been boarded up). What really impressed me however was the friendliness of the staff and how well they accommodated my circumstances. I was given a ride from Lime Street station to the hostel very soon after arriving and was allowed to bypass the check out deadline due to the fact that I wouldn't be able to bring my belongings into the Liverpool match.
In sum, this would be a very suitable place for anyone just looking to stay in the city long enough to catch a football match. However, for those looking to experience the city proper I would take a look at options closer to the city center. read more
