I'm an atheist.
Last week, I was given some rosary beads by an old lady and I wore them for a day because I thought it looked cool. I wasn't in my normal frame of mind at the time. I started to feel uncomfortable wearing them. I had to get them off, because it felt weird having such a powerful iconic symbol around my neck.
I went to St. Agnes church the next day not knowing what denomination it was but I knew it wasn't Catholic and I felt a bit more at ease. Protestants still believe in hell and damnation, but not to the extent of the Catholics. Regardless, I know where I'm going when the grim reaper comes to pay a visit.
The architecture of the building is stunning, it was built hundreds of years ago and that is a fact that always amazes me. It was like being in a stone time machine when I walked in, I didn't like the fusty smell, but I enjoyed the calm environment.
I won't be converting just yet, however I love the beauty of churches and believe they should all be grade 2 listed buildings. read more
