My whole family sees Dr. Kumar. She is very professional and is a great doctor. She is very thorough and makes sure that you take the steps needed to live a healthier life. I know that some people think she can be rude, but I like a doctor that is straightforward with you. Her job is not to be your best friend, it's to make you better. read more

My father and mother have used her for years. I personally do not like her and she does not like me. Because I want answers. My father was 87 years old about 8 years ago. He kept loosing his balance and getting dizzy enough to fall. She put him in the hospital. Did all kinds of test but nothing showed up. Thank God she called in his cardiologist and he was also testing. She came in and told me she was sending him home because they could not find anything. I explained he now lived alone since my mother had passed and I worried about him being there by himself. She said basically she was sending him home to die. I said I would like him to be able to basically take care of himself the way he wanted to. She said I couldn't always get what I want. She left the room and not 5 minutes later his cardiologist came in and said they knew what the problem was. He needed a pacemaker. He recently had his 2nd pacemaker put in. He has been in the hospital several times and every time she expected him to die. He is still hanging in. He is having to have home health now because he fell before Mother's Day this year and broke his femur. She is in charge of that. He was not feeling good today with a large swollen area on his right side and his lung sounded crackly. The home health nurse felt he needed to see the dr. She called and made an appointment today. He went in with his caregiver who is a sitter we pay for. Dr Kumar asked daddy if he thought he needed hospice. Daddy said he didn't think he was ready for that. The caregiver proceeded to tell the dr his symptoms. The dr said well he is 95 years old. The dr told her that was the problem with the home health people, they make more of the situation than necessary. She basically chewed out our caregiver. Then she asked daddy if he was sure he didn't need hospice. Again he said no. She said "Well how long do you think you are going to live" He said MD Anderson says I could probably last till 100. She said maybe MD Anderson should be taking care of him. Then she turned her back on them and walked out. If you love you friends and family do not let them go to her. read more

This doctor is so horrible I dont want to give her even one star. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt on several occassions all to no avail. She is rude, she has absolutely no bedside manners and she does not listen to anything you have to say. She acts like she is paying you instead of the other way around. The only thing positive I can say is you dont sit long in the waiting room but that's because its always empty!! She has chased everybody away. read more

Friendly staff is about it. Went to her for a year and a half. Never felt any better after seeing her. Gave diagnosis that did not concern the reason I visit. Loves prescribing big name medications that will mess you up more than help. Heck I think everyone I know that goes to her is on lexapro. Always hitting you up with antibiotic and steroid shots. I don't have anything positive to say about this doctor. There is little to know personal care here. I was directly told by the doctor that she "mainly deals with diabetes, stroke and common allergy and cold patients" outside of this she can't help. In more detail, She always wanted to prescribe pills or injections without an adequate diagnosis that made sense and never took the time to provide quality care. Even after I explained that the pills are not "fixing" me or did not work. She wanted me to sign papers stating she explained the results of all the tests and exams she assigned without actually going over them. When I refused and asked her to go over them she scoffed and got upset. She also missed several things in my care and did not perform the correct tests and exams as I food out from Houston specialists. The doctor referrals were the same, the basic low quality care and a charge to the insurance with a copay. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Kumar for almost 5 years and I find her to be very attentive and thorough. There is little time for chit chat because she is busy doing her job as my physician. She asks many questions regarding my health and I have ample time to get my questions answered. She reviews my bloodwork with me at each visit. She is kind and caring, and is an excellant physician. Started out great, she would listen to what was going on and actually look at whatever was bothering me. Now, she's super rude and has no bedside manner. She rushes you in and out and expects you to keep coming back. She prescribed me so many antibiotics and prescriptions. I've never been a pill person but she has me on 4 different scripts. I'm 34, now I'm getting hot flashes and a yeast infection that won't go away. My feet started bothering me and her suggestion for everything is, "you need to lose weight". She doesn't look at what the problem you're having, she just writes a prescription. Then tells you to come back every two weeks. I don't feel my health is her top priority. I discussed this with Dr. Kumar and she said, " If you don't like it, you can find another Dr." And the nurse says my name wrong every time after being corrected numerous times by me and other staff working there. read more

The only positive thing I can say is this doctor sees her patients in a timely manner. She did not want to listen to my concerns. She will prescribe a pill for any ailment.. She does not have the best interests for her patients. Find someone else who cares! read more

I am appalled with the way my elderly mom was treated by Dr. Kumar. She was rude, hostile and very unprofessional. I have never experienced this kind of behavior from a doctor. All patients should be treated with respect, especially the elderly and I can only imagine what would have happened if my mom was not accompanied by her daughter. read more

As a healthcare provider myself, I look for a knowledgeable physician that is proactive in care and at the same time will refer you to a specialist when needed. I have found that Dr. S. Kumar takes the time to listen and know you as a patient. Over the past 15 years that I have been seeing Dr. S. Kumar as a patient, I find that she is very thorough and professional. I was the first in my family to start using Dr. S. Kumar as my PCP and now both my parents, my husband and daughter are patients of Dr. S. Kumar. My parents are hitting the age of 80 and feel very comfortable with Dr. S. Kumar and truly trust her judgement. My mother had an abnormal test result and Dr. Kumar immediately ordered additional testing and set up an appointment with a cancer specialist. My father had scheduled his very first visit with Dr. S. Kumar and before the office visit my father found himself in the emergency room with a heart condition. When the emergency room physician asked if my father had a PCP, I told the physician that my father had an up coming appointment schedule to see Dr. Kumar for the first time. The emergency room physician said he would see if Dr. S. Kumar would agree to be the Attending Physician for my father during this hospital visit. I was very glad to find out that even with never seeing my father, Dr. S. Kumar agreed to take over his care in the hospital during a very scary time. I am very thankful for the care Dr. S. Kumar has provided my family. I felt the need to write this review after reading a statement posted. I want to say that Dr. S. Kumar is qualified to treat much more that diabetes and common allergies and I have experienced her compassionate care with multiple patients within my family. I have been an RN for 30 years and recognize the high quality of care delivered by Dr. S. Kumar and I trust her diagnostic abilities and prescribed treatment regimens. read more
