Bad "therapists, if you want to call them that. We saw one "therapist" and she was VERY expensive,…read moreso we didn't send our kid to her. Then we tried another one and on our 2nd appointment she was late and on 3 out of 4 appointments we had she started each off by saying "so where were we last time, I forgot....". Very unprofessional.

Besides the first couple of years of seeing specialist for the hard reason of why we were separated, we started seeing Dan Bates in October of 2017 & he has been AMAZING for us!!! I love how even when things were "going well", Dan would help us to navigate our experience & figure out why & what tools we could learn to use to help us to stay "doing well". He also helped us a lot with "family of orgin" which is what would cause us to feel disconnected from each other during certain times/situations when really it turned out to be miscommunication/interpration of things said/done based on what our home life was like growing up. Another great thing he has introduced us to doing is "halts". This is where we take moments throughout our day to tune into ourselves to figure out how we are feeling emotionally/physicall. If anyone is in the Vancouver/Camas WA area, & looking for an amazing counselor (for couples or personal), I so recommend Dan. His feedback/tips & insight are amazing. Here is his site: https://lacamascounseling.com/counselors/daniel-bates/ & the counseling office: https://www.facebook.com/lacamascounseling/ I've also seen Samantha there as well. She is very energetic, friendly, & relaxing to talk to. It's like hanging out with a best friend where I wish she wasn't my counselor so we could just hang out. LOL. :) Sam is who recommended my husband and I see Dan when I told her we wanted to do couple counseling. Her site is: https://lacamascounseling.com/counselors/samantha-cunningham/

I went to Real Life Counseling around 2020 to 2021 because I was struggling with online school as a…read moreteen in high school. I was doing terribly, so my dad and step-mom helped my brother and I get into therapy with RLC. I had my first therapy session with LMHC Lindsey Russet. I believe she was a wonderful fit for me, but she had to step away after a couple months to a year for maternity leave. I had the option to continue with video calls instead of in-person meetings, but my parents did not believe that to be as effective at the time. I feel grateful for her time, and wished her the best. With my first therapist no longer available, RLC had to move me to a new therapist. Despite the seemingly long list of providers in their website, I only had one option. Unfortunately, he was not the right one. I never truly felt comfortable with this provider, but continued to see him anyway. Our disconnect made the sessions feel impersonal and a waste of time. He would ask me to try techniques in-office that I did not like (breathing techniques) and we would often talk about things unrelated to my mental health issues. It felt like he didn't understand me at all. After all of this wasted time, I knew I finally had to step up and do something, otherwise I would continue seeing this provider that I knew was not benefiting me. I had taken some control in the conversation and was asking his thoughts on my situation, because I had a feeling he didn't see what was wrong. I was correct. After he said something The Board would not have like to hear, and something I disagreed with (never reported and do not intend to), I had my closure and could leave counseling without guilt. I went a couple years without therapy and missed my first therapist every so often, but Real Life Counseling was not an option for me anymore. I would not consider going there again. That latter experience was subpar, and I hope other clients that visit RLC have a better experience than I did.

I was left with a credit on my account and my counselor no longer works with this practice due to other reasons. I called twice asking if they would refund the credit on my account, no answer. This is unprofessional and no way to conduct a business.

Warning - not a professional service!!…read more They NEVER answer their phone (even their main number) Listening to their voicemail it still today 4/22 mentions that they will be closed from Dec 18th to Jan 4th... We were offered to "borrow" a Tens unit - all of a sudden our credit card was debited $300 without any communication from them. We checked multiple times that our account was up to date before we stopped using their services and were told that we didn't owe anything - last month (March 2021) - 5 months later we were sent an invoice of $285 - upon contacting them we were told that the insurance had up to 90 days to pay them (which they did). However the majority of the invoice $200+ was from no shows to appointments - that NEVER goes through insurance and we should have been able to been told that back in October 2020. No willingness on their part to even work with you on the no show charges. I understand that some businesses are desperate to keep their doors open but that should never go out over your clients. Do not use - find another alternative for your own sake.
