This has to be one of the most amazing places in the world.
Spurn Point (or Spurn Head) is a thin strip of land jutting out into the Humber estuary. It's several miles long, which means you can walk to the end and be almost surrounded by sea. It's extraordinarily beautiful; the views comprise lots and lots of sea, and lots and lots of sky you may prefer a few hills and mountains in your ideal scenery, but the combination of sea and sky that you get here certainly appeals to me.
The site is owned by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and is a haven for wildlife of all sorts. Indeed Spurn Head is a great place for bird-spotting as apparently many rare species can be seen. The place has an interesting history too.
All in all it's a great place to visit, although it does take an age to get to -- there are a lot of East yorkshire villages to drive through before you get there. But it's well worth the effort! read more
