What better place to stay then a place that greets you with a card and a birthday cookie? We stayed at the Springwood Inn for the weekend of my 50th birthday. The grounds are beautiful and the historic home is attractively yet comfortably decorated. Bob and Carolyn are both personable and made us feel like friends while still seeing to our needs and comfort. Carolyn suggested the best restaurants and made us reservations for both nights we were there. They also took time to talk about the history of the area and points of interest we might want to see. While staying at the inn, we took advantage of many of the common rooms including the woods room with it's large windows to give a nice outside view, which is where we took our cheese and wine before going out to dinner, and the study, which we used to sit together and read in the evenings. Our bedroom was clean and inviting and the bed was comfy. For me, the best thing is waking up in the morning to the smells of breakfast wafting in the air. And I didn't have to cook it! We had a different breakfast both morning and it wasn't just toast and cereal like you get at a hotel. It was a variety of items including fruits, vegetables, meats and breads/pastries. I would recommend this place whether you have a busy schedule and looking for a place to sleep in the evenings or looking for a place to get away from in all. You can't go wrong with this level of service and hospitality.

Is there a pool?

No, so sorry, we have no pool. Anniston, however, has a wonderful aquatic center.

A step above the typical BW. The property is gated with its own parking lot which made parking feel…read moremore secure. Rooms are fairly standard if you aren't staying in one of the suites in the mansion. The basic rooms are an addition behind the mansion with a view of the pool area. Blankets were a little thin and lacking for a cold night. I was hesitant to turn on the heater because it looked really dusty and would have aggravated my allergies. Walls are thin - we could hear our upstairs neighbors quite loudly. Breakfast was fine. Decent selection of eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, cereal, fruit and yogurt. I was hoping for some southern options like the fried catfish in other photos but they didn't have it when we were there. The dining room is nice and felt elevated with real plates and silverware. There is also a bar in the original carriage house. Overall it's a unique place to stay. The historic mansion is nicely decorated with plenty of charm. I would consider staying here again the next time I'm in the area.

Parker House Bed and Breakfast - The amazing 1889 Victorian Parker House in Anniston, Alabama

We stayed here 3 nights for the Talladega Speedway race. The Parker House is less than 20 miles…read morefrom the track in the quiet little town of Anniston, Alabama. When we arrived, Scott greeted us and immediately gave us a tour and told us about the history of their amazing 3 story 1889 Victorian home. Their Bed & Breakfast is such a beautiful house with so much character. I just love all the original wood work throughout the house and the original stained glass window that overlooks the gorgeous wooden stair case. They offer 4 rooms to stay in. Each room has a fireplace and 3 rooms have a private bathroom. Our room was very comfortable and quiet. The first night a fell asleep with the aroma of a crumb cake that Megan was baking for the next morning. Scott and Megan are very friendly and are great hosts, along with their adorable children. The next time I travel near Anniston, Alabama I will definitely stay here again!

Scott was delightful and was happy to answer all of our questions about the house-it's beautiful and the stained glass window is a must see! The room was bright and sunny when we arrived and we were able to see the sunset that evening (we stayed in the Reynolds Room). Our son slept in the bed with us (king size) and we had some of the best sleep-honestly, we didn't know how our son would do as we don't tend to travel much but I was able to rock him in the rocking chair outside our room and he slept all night long! We went downstairs for breakfast and Scott's oldest daughter had gotten some toys out for our son-they had a great time playing together. Breakfast was delicious and it was nice to be able to sit down with the Brightwell family. Scott and Megan were wonderful hosts and their children are kind, sweet and very bright. If you have children and are worried about traveling with them, don't be! We never felt like our child didn't have space to run around or that he had to be quite the whole time. We hope to be back in the area soon so we can stay here again!
