We were traveling out of town and going to arrive late. We called and they said no problem. When we arrived it was a quick check in process. You have to use your key on the wall to get most of the lights to work. The room was clean and cozy. The fridge was cold, and there is both coffee and tea. The beds were so comfortable and so were the pillows. A very comfortable nights sleep. We didn't have a chance to have breakfast at it is from 6-9am. Great staff, wonderful atmosphere, and plenty of parking when we went. The upside: fire pit and chairs for cozy winter hangout, fitness room, continental breakfast with more than just pastries and cereal, smooth checkin process, market in lobby for 24hrs service, and electric charging stations. The downside: not many seating for breakfast when lots of people are there, the room doors are heavy, the bathroom door is a sliding door that doesn't lock, tv is not aligned with any seating, desk facing beds, and some outlets weren't working. We didn't get to try the pool since it was cold and winter but it looked really nice. Checkout was easy, we just put the door keys into a box and left! read more

We did a staycation over the weekend. This SpringHill is very nice. There a plenty of places to eat nearby if needed. The room was clean. Bathroom was clean. Employees are great. Breakfast the first morning was bleh. Runny eggs, ran out of oatmeal, stale/cold premade waffles. Ok. So Monday morning is completely different. Same breakfast but way more fresh and tasty. Maybe yesterday was just an off day. We really like this hotel and recommend for a quick weekend in San Diego. Especially, for those going to wild animal park. Not so far from Sea World either. It's decent price for what you get. I believe parking is $10 a night and safety is good. They lock up doors by 10pm and you would have to use room key to get in. read more

We have stayed here twice when we visited Southern California and are generally pleased. We drive an EV car and there are three (3) ChargePoint chargers. The cost is $10 per session. This really helped because we arrived at less than 9%. The trundle bed works pretty well and the room can accommodate a family of 4. The bathroom is a good size with a shower but doesn't have a tub. The breakfast is fairly standard. Eggs, sausage/bacon and some waffles. They also have various breads and yogurts. The fitness room was clean with modern amenities. We stayed here to go to the San Diego Safari Park which is around 15-20 minutes away. Overall, this hotel was great. The front desk at check in was nice and since it wasn't crowded, we were able to enter our room around 11am. Unfortunately, the toilet handle was broken when we arrived but after telling the front desk, when we returned from our lunch, it was fixed when we came back. We liked this hotel since it was quiet and also close to the Safari Park. I think the only downside is that they do charge $10 for parking. But still a good stay overall. read more

Hotel seemed very new as everything was clean, fixtures modern and rooms were large. From the moment we checked in, check-in process was seamless and the front desk attendant was very friendly. Once we entered the room, it was a suite with a microwave and fridge and a large living room area. The beds were comfortable and there were a lot of outlets for to plug in our electronics, including USB ports. My only complaint was the room was lacking a full length mirror only had a mirror in the bathroom. They did have a walk in closet although we really didn't need that much room since we were only there for 1 night. They had free breakfast in the morning with lots of options and a lot of seating, which is always a plus especially for a busy weekend. Although restaurants were not within walking distance, there were a lot of restaurants within driving distance since the hotel did not have a restaurant or bar other than the free breakfast. read more

I come in here whenever I am mad at my husband. If he even looks at me funny I'm off to Springhill Suites in Escondido. It's my third time this year and it's only April. I come here when I need peace and quiet and I crawl into that bed in my pajamas and just get some quality rest. The beds are nice. All white crisp bedding. I bring my own pillow, but they have tons of nice pillows. In the cabinet there's extra blankets and pillows, which I always use. The people at the front desk are always nice. There's a continental breakfast in the morning that's fantastic. There's eggs or omelettes, sausage, cereals, toasts and bagels. The coffee is great, vanilla creamers. There's chocolate milk in the little refrigerator. I always get an extra one for night time. I enjoy it. It's super comfortable there. It's my secret home away from home. It's very clean and I am picky. it's centrally located too if you want to get out of there and go shopping or do dinner. Lots of places to choose from. I feel very safe there as well and I don't worry about my car in the parking lot. If you're thinking of staying anywhere, I think this is the best place in Escondido. read more

I've stayed here about 5 years ago when it was fairly new. I had high hopes. I pre checked yelp and saw a honest review which led to my doubts. We tried it anyways. I'm sorry we did . We walked in one gal Abigail was working. I came up to check in. No smile. Just a robot doing a job . She checked me in and hurried back to whatever she was doing behind the counter check in wall. Our room had a stained couch that could really use a deep cleaning .. yuck. Also no ventilations whatsoever in the room can't open a window no vent works. Water pressure in the sink was a fast drip The bed was very comfy we slept great. Came down to mediocre breakfast. I had my typical scrambled eggs with salsa and cheese. Got the mini waffles for my daughter they were hard as a rock. We gave her a mini muffin and fruit instead. As we sat down I noticed again the couches are disgustingly stained. Come on mariott I know you can do better. Upon check out I was met with new robot staff.. no smiles . Just a rush to get you out. The girl said ok you're set I asked for a paper receipt. This seemed to be an inconvenience for her . Yikes ! She passed the receipt turned around and walked away , again no thanks for being a mariott member, have a great day? Stayed here over the weekend. We went to SeaWorld and it's about 30 mins from it. It is located in a great location, many restaurants and stores near by. I called day before to request room with view, higher floor and with 2 queen beds. Lady whom I spoke to was friendly and said she'd put in requests. Upon checking in, the gentleman who checked us in was polite and friendly. We got a room with 2 queen beds plus a trundle bed. The room was very spacious and clean. Smelled good! We also got a good view and placed on their highest floor, the 4th. They offer a complimentary breakfast, times vary during the week and weekends. They have good options and they keep it well stocked. My only little complaint (but not really), was I placed a request through Bonvoy app to have more pillows and blankets brought to room and they were never delivered but on the app it said it was completed. I always use the app to have items delivered to room. Not sure what happened but I ended up just doing without them as I had a long day at SeaWorld and just wanted to rest. I would def stay here again, as I have a SeaWorld pass and will be returning! :) read more

Overall the room was nice, the shower products were full size so no concerns over running out of products Breakfast had quite a few classic options Negative: breakfast is advertised to end at 9:30am but by 9:09am the lady was already clearing the breakfast station. At 9:20 I went to get more juice only to find the juice fountain had already been turned off. The pullout couch had a urine smell which I didn't notice initially but I did see it had a stain that looked like they tried to clean it off. It wasn't until my toddler needed a 4am cuddle and when I went to lay on the pullout you could smell urine. Not my daughter's urine as she didn't have an accident. I saw a couple of ants roaming around on the work desk in the room as I was working on my computer Would I stay here again? Maybe. But I would have a better idea what to look for upon check in and to ask the front staff to make sure the breakfast is available until the advertised time. And that the couch is clean from the get go and that there's no bugs. read more

The front desk (Alex) was very nice. After checking in, We went to our room just to put our luggages. We left and came back at around 11 pm and turned the air on. I went to the unit to check if it is getting cold and to my surprise, there's a lot of ants. We called housekeeping and front desk and were told that there is no more room available and will check with maintenance the next day. We asked for a spray that we can use because we cannot sleep with those ants near our bed. After a few minutes, a lady came and clean just outside of the air condition unit. She apologized and left. Few minutes after, the ants came back. We were not able to rest that night after a long day. read more

Paid a little more than I wanted to but for a good experience. Thank you for accommodating our room requests (not near an elevator, not facing the freeway, upper floor.) The beds were comfortable, customer service is good and their breakfast is delicious with many fresh choices. I ate $25-$30 worth. However the breakfast food area was in a tight space for the amount of guests. An open flow design would have been more accommodating. The rooms have a modern minimalist design. We reserved 2 Queens and a trundle. The trundle bed is too soft to sleep in, (unless you're a cat or dog). Had we needed it, sleeping on the sofa would have been more comfortable and supportive. Having a coffee table was useful as we chose to eat breakfast in our room. Our room had a big walk in closet, with an iron, a refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave. In the lobby there's an area for doing work on your laptops. They also sell snacks and drinks. The only big ding is their extra check out fee that was later removed from the final bill several days after they said it would. This maintenance fee was vague and confusing. It's an option when visiting the Safari Park if you're willing to wait for the extra fee to be removed. read more

I stayed here years ago. I think it was just after it had been completed and open for guests. I'm not sure if Marriott owned it at that point, but it was excellent. I have to say now I've stayed in the last two weeks and what I spent in Escondido on this hotel. It's not Beverly Hills costs is outrageous for the experience. When I first checked in, I had a problem with I think she's the manager. It was instant she didn't like me or maybe this is just how she acts with everybody. But something was very wrong with her. I checked in. Then I brought in my dog through the front. I had him last time I stayed no harrassment. She said rather nasty dogs weren't allowed. She waited to make her day if I left. I informed her that I had a medical dog. It was against CA law to discriminate. Law school was worth something. I offered her my doctors note. Get this, she said, if it was really a service animal, I wouldn't be holding him in my arms. It doesn't get dumber than that so the next morning. I was down for coffee sitting in the lobby. I was overtaken by a couple who had six children and two dogs without a leash. Running in the lobby. No staff said anything to them. This woman did everything she could to make my stay miserable. She was nasty and cold. I almost asked for my money back. She made me so uncomfortable I checked my dog into a pet resort. This hotel was such a bad experience, but it gets worse. Everybody there has four or five kids. I don't know where they live, but they make a lot of children. They're all running in the lobby area with dogs. They're running through the halls. I had above me kids that wrestled and jumped on the floor until 2 o'clock in the morning. No I didn't call the front desk because it would've been pointless. The place is an expensive romper room. I will never stay there again. As matter a fact it's really spoiled me off any Marriott. I let her know that I didn't have any welcome water in my hotel room. I mentioned a couple of other things that were missing. She said oh that's for premium members. So apparently Marriott doesn't give you a welcome water unless you're premium. I'm gonna think that that's in pretty bad taste. I'd like my money back. It was a complete waste of time and money. This woman treated me badly and I don't know why. I have expensive clothes. I wear polo. I have an apple watch. Lol. I have no idea why she disliked me so much. It was in an instant when I entered the hotel. The message to me you don't belong here. I don't recommend you stay here. Unless you have unruly kids. It's supposed to be our superior Escondido hotel. It is anything but that. I went elsewhere and I am so happy here. The check in person made passive remarks about my relationship to my father on check in as well, which prompted asking for the initial reciept. I went through a whole ordeal with Expedia, booked a room last minute for the night, wanted to cancel/refund after being able to stay at my friends place, but ended up needing the hotel room anyway. Point is, the manager--Bryan-- was there on the other line helping me all the way to make sure I get the refund and even upgraded me from a king bed to double queen. Such an awesome, patient human! This SpringHill Suites opened in 2019 and still maintains a new, fresh and clean environment both in the common areas and the guest rooms. The guest suites are very spacious with a nice sitting area separating the sleeping area by a nice working desk with convenient power outlets. I found the bed very comfortable and able to give me a good night's sleep. The room also comes with a microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker. The bathroom is equally spacious supplied with Paul Mitchell's Tree Tea toiletries. In the morning, guests are treated to a free hot and cold breakfast buffet. SpringHill Suites is definitely a great value in the North San Diego area. It is located less than a mile from downtown Escondido with many fine dining opportunities and very close to San Diego Safari Park. Parking is also free. The staff is very friendly and quite helpful. It is evident that this location and management take extreme meticulous care in hospitality and sanitization for an enjoyable guest stay. read more

Unfortunately if you want to stay close to the Wild Safari Park you really don't have too many options for hotels. -The room walls are very thin! The hotel is clean and well kept. The complementary hot breakfast is simple and yet convenient. And we enjoyed the location because downtown Escondido, nearby shops and restaurants were all easily accessible within just a few minutes of driving. Having said that, this hotel isn't perfect. The biggest thing that we disliked was the AC unit. The direction of the vent is fixed and it blows directly onto the occupants in the bed. As a result, we had to sleep with the AC off, because it was simply too cold otherwise. read more

I enjoyed staying at this hotel! I arrived at 9pm after a long day at the San Diego Wild Animal Safari Park and the front door was locked. I rang the bell and was greeted by the front desk attendant quickly. He informed me that the doors are locked nightly at 8pm and you need your key to enter. I was happy that the doors were locked. I felt safer staying at the hotel. I was checked in, was able to park right outside, and access my suite quickly. The lobby was clean and welcoming. There was a lit Christmas tree, it was such a nice touch. As we entered our room, we were happy to find a refrigerator and countertop with coffee maker, cups, and ice bin. A small sofa and foot rest. A desk and chair. A semi-separated area with two queen beds. A large restroom. A large closet. Our room had a window. This hotel is in an industrial park and not in a location that has great views, but I appreciated a view of the city lights. Everything was clean. I did not hear any noise from any other rooms. In the morning there was a continental breakfast that even included turkey sausage! Coffee alone makes me happy so everything else is icing on the cake. We had eggs and yogurt. My niece & nephew enjoyed yogurt, eggs, and a bagel. We would have liked to have cereal but there was no milk. These things happen. Also, don't get to breakfast late, they stop stocking around 30 minutes before breakfast ends and whatever you don't get you don't get. There was plenty of seating, including tables, couches, and even private booths with TV's. The hotel also has a fitness center and outdoor pool. I did not use them on my trip. I will definitely return the next time I visit Escondido! read more

This is a nice place to stay. The staff were friendly and the rooms were neat. You do get a breakfast made up of eggs, sausage, bacon, coffee, tea, juice, muffins, bagels, and cereal. There are two EV chargers although you do have to pay for them. If there is one thing I would change, is that since the seating area is separate from the bedroom/window, the lights needs to be brighter. Otherwise I would come back to stay here again. read more

The negative star is for the lady named Maribeth (at least that's what she said her name was) who makes the food for breakfast. I've been to this place many times so I already know how super slow and rude this lady is. She shouldn't be working there coz her customer service is freaking poor! She has a nasty attitude and acts like she owns the place or money is coming out of her pocket to feed the customers/members. She makes me very uncomfortable and makes me cringe to the bone! When I was there last, she was chitchatting in the buffet area in Spanish in front of me and other customers with a female worker. I guess she thought i couldn't understand Spanish coz I could hear her talking about me. She shouldn't be allowed to work anywhere, period! She's a very nasty human being! read more

The bathroom didn't have all the amities we needed so that was a bummer. Rooms are very nice & if you pay attention the view from the rooms are just as cool I thought. They have bandit barriers all over the front desk, employees are all wearing masks, hand sanitizers are at prime locations for easy usage, and they enforce all customers to also wear masks within the building. Room was located in a great area. Easy access, next to a large 24 hour fitness and was super clean. California nonsense rules with power, water and ac though. "save the water feature" aka super nice shower with barely any water pressure. I didnt bother washing my hair it would have taken an hour. Also didnt get hot enough. "save the power" aka your entire room powers down unless you have one room key in the charger thing. "save the energy" aka, you can pick the temp on the ac, but we will keep shutting ir down so youre randomly hot af every so often. Room was not very well soundproof. Loved the yelling toddler I heard cleary at 7am. Also,the layout of the room was odd. Couch facing a odd office desk enclosure with sliding window to see the bed. The tv was facing the desk wall so it was not something you can really see from the couch or the bed lol. Bed was comfortable and clean. Check out is noon which is nice. read more

I'm having a pretty difficult time trying to figure out what kind of star rating I should give this particular hotel based on my current experience. I am currently a guest staying at this hotel and while everything seemed so great and simply wonderful and charming about it, very quickly I felt threatened, unimportant as a guest and upset by the lack of Covid-19 mask enforcement by guests in the various common areas. My room is beautiful. It was neat and clean. All of my additional requests were met with ease. I can't complain about my room at all. I asked for one that was close to the elevator, and it was. I had asked for extra towels and things, and they were easily available to me with just one simple phone call. There was a temporary issue with the floor's ice machine but that was quickly resolved. There is really nothing wrong with my room at all. It was super spacious and looked just as it did in the photos shared online. Perfect. The reason for my less than five star review is because of a little situation that I had while I was here. I parked my car in the hotels parking lot. I haven't come across any other gas or anything although there were plenty of cars there. I didn't have any unexpected run-ins or anything with anybody. I went out to go and pick up food for dinner for my family after having enjoyed a few hours in the pool. After we had dinner in our room, my family and I decided to jump back into our car to go ahead and visit family. When we arrived at our car we noticed it had been spat on. Yuck! Furious and having to clean off the window ourselves, esp gross and even a bit scary during this Covid-19 pandemic, my husband and I were fuming and talking about our wondering who'd do such a disgusting thing. I did notice one person in the parking lot that had been sitting on a bench, outside, both before, during & after I'd picked up dinner. Trying to give that person the benefit of the doubt, we wondered if either they might've seen "who done it" or if they'd seen anything at all. After cleaning off our windows, we returned to the front desk. The person that I spoke with was rather rude. He looked at us as though he could not believe that we were asking about whether or not there were cameras in the parking lot. He said that maybe about two or three years ago that this particular city was one of the worst and that it has the highest crime rate for cars being vandalized and broken into. Well, that is great. I'm sorry but I don't really care about the rating from a couple years ago. I'm concerned about who might've done this to my car and whether or not they're targeting me, my family, or just being rude. I did notice that my family is the only one that does not appear to be Caucasian, Mexican or Latin American or African American. Was I targeted because of my appearance? Either way I didn't appreciate the attitude of the gentleman at the desk. I explained the fact that my family's safety may be involved and therefore it was also my first priority. He continued to roll his eyes at me and my husband and when we asked about any possible camera footage, that's when he told us that we'd have to take things up w the manager who wouldn't be on site until the following day. Again, I didn't need the attitude. There are signs posted all over the common areas especially in the elevators in the lobby instructing us to be mindful of the COVID-19 nationally mandated request that everyone wear a mask. When I walked from the lobby this morning to the elevators to return to my room, there was an entire family that look like they were in the elevator and ready to check out. They all came off the elevator and the one thing that I noticed aside from the fact that one of them was carrying their dog, none of them were wearing masks. When I politely asked if they thought that maybe they could wear their mask, the mother in the group told me to STFU and mind my own f-ing business!! Ugghhh! Rude and not friendly. Eeeek. Gee, thanks for making me feel like your absolute least important guest and as though my safety doesn't matter. I can't say with any confidence that I'll stay here again if rude, dangerous things keep on happening. read more
