Hotel is really clean and nice. Came here for a wedding and wasn't expecting much. But pleasantly surprised. Everyone at the check in desk was super friendly and helpful. Gaby checked us out and she was super friendly. Our room was beautiful. The bathroom is lovely with a gorgeous huge walk in shower. Only complaint is it was hard to do my makeup because the lighting is very dim, so being a lighted makeup mirror...loved the closet and refrigerator and nice tv. The mattress was super comfortable and comfy pillows too. Breakfast was yummy and loved the coffee and waffle bar. (Don't forget to flip it so the timer goes on, should have a direction for that!) the breakfast area was nice and also an outdoor patio with heater is great. Wanted to take a jacuzzi but it was full with people and it's not very big. The pool is big. The whole experience was great and I highly recommend staying here and hope to be back in future. read more

We stayed at Fairfield by Marriott for two nights while attending a wedding at Twin Oaks Garden Estate and were able to use a guest discount, although it still ended up being pretty pricey for a short stay. The room itself was what you would expect from a typical Marriott property. Clean, comfortable, and nothing out of the ordinary. The most disappointing part for me was the breakfast. As someone who eats plant based, my options were extremely limited. I ended up having oatmeal and bananas both mornings while watching most guests enjoy bacon and eggs. I was honestly expecting a bit more variety, especially fresh fruit, which feels like a basic for a standard Western hotel breakfast. On a positive note, the guy sitting on the bench outside was the best part. Overall, it was an okay stay, but I do wish there were more inclusive breakfast options, especially at that price point. read more

Rooms are clean and neat, lobby and breakfast was good and customer service was good too. My only issue was the pool! It looked cloudy, had a bunch of debris in it. I called the Front Desk to let them know what the issue was and to also ask when the last time the pool was cleaned and if it was safe to get into: they told me the pool guy had just cleaned it that morning, although I would absolutely question that. Otherwise, our day was pretty decent better than I anticipated as far as the rooms go and beds were pretty comfortable, etc. read more

Great stay here. Was in town for a golf event with my Company. The Hotel is a Marriott property and is maintained very well. Stays here include a complementary breakfast, so that is a nice bonus. Breakfasts have various cereals, bagels, toast, yogurt, fruit, juices make your own waffles, eggs and sausages, so a nice variety for a free breakfast. The lobby is welcoming and modern, the staff was great and I did not have any issues. When I arrived I was greeted and was given a little gift bag with a cookie and water inside for being a Marriott Bonvoy member, recommended that you join. It has a small business center located within the lobby area as well. They also have robot that brings you room service, always think that is cool. They also have a small pantry area for snacks and various items in case you forgot something. My room itself was large, it was one large space, but really two rooms, king size bed with a partial wall separation and then on the other side a fold out couch, desk/office area and a second TV. It also had a mini fridge, microwave and coffee machine. It was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was also updated, full glass shower with a nice large rain style shower head with great water pressure, water rains down on you like a waterfall. A couple things with the room, it faced the Main Street and was a bit loud with traffic, try to get an even numbered room and you will not face the street. Also, my room had a smell kind of like near the beach, not overwhelming, just a bit off. It was not strong and as soon as I was settled, did not notice it, but something they should look into. They have a gym and a small pool as well. I used the gym of course and it was pretty nice, a couple benches, free weights, treadmills, elliptical machines and a hydration station. (Water was not cold though) A lot of space and I think they should add a multifunction weight machine there and it would make the gym a lot more rounded and better overall. Overall I enjoyed my stay, they are close to a lot of restaurants and other shopping areas, near the golf course as well. With a couple improvements I would have given it 5 stars. I would stay here again, getting an even numbered room away from the street next time. On November 30, 2025, at around 7:45 PM, I called Jackie, who was acting as the receptionist at that time. I requested a mobile key via my cell phone, as I had already waited 40 minutes to avoid carrying my physical credit card due to having lost my wallet. Although I still had my passport to verify my identity and had already settled the room charges using my credit card linked to my Marriott BonvBonvoyount, I expected to proceed directly to my room upon request, given my previous experience with mobile keys. However, despite waiting for 40 minutes, I still had not received access to the mobile key app. When I called the receptionist, Jackie insisted that she would not send me the mobile key until I checked in with her at the front desk. I questioned her reasoning, asking why I needed to check in if I was requesting a mobile key. She responded that it was necessary to issue a parking pass. I then asked her what would happen if I didn't need a parking pass, suggesting that I had been dropped off by Uber or Lyft; Jackie maintained that I needed to check in with her regardless. I further inquired why the hotel offered a mobile app on their website if I was being denied access to the mobile key check-in option. Jackie implied that mobile key check-ins were not honored until I checked in with her, which I found to be inaccurate. The hotel's website does not state that checking in with the receptionist is a requirement to obtain a mobile key. The whole purpose of the mobile key app is to allow customers to bypass interactions with receptionists like Jackie. It seemed that she was creating her own rules in this regard. It is unprofessional for Marriott to promote mobile check-in via its app--screenshots attached--yet have employees like Jackie deny this service at their discretion. If there were an option to rate this experience zero stars, I would have chosen it. This was my first instance of dissatisfaction at this location, despite numerous prior visits for work purposes. I intend to file a formal complaint, as I believe that if a Marriott hotel does not support mobile key check-in, this should be clearly indicated on their website. After much research, I decided to stay here at the Fairfield Inn & Suites San Marcos (San Diego) because I felt it was the best in the area for these reasons: 1) newer hotel so accommodations are fresh and not old/dated 2) safe area (it has its own traffic light to turn into the hotel and shares an area with an Outback Steakhouse and upscale apartment complex) 3) free parking even with multiple cars 4) no pets (hence not dirty and noisy. I hate staying in a hotel room next to a barking dog or one where I find dog hairs all over the sofa) 5) free breakfast: bagels, eggs, sausage, yogurt, cereal, waffle station 6) a Marriott property which is nice if you have status Upon arrival I was grateful to find all of those things plus: 7) a friendly staff 8) super clean hotel The only downside, which for me is a major downside, is that the rooms have zero soundproofing! Even after getting a room facing the parking lot and not the main road I still heard road noise literally all night long. I also could hear every detail of my neighbors conversation and TV shows they were watching. Maybe you won't be in the room much or be a better sleeper than me which is why I only took off one star. Luckily between the hours of midnight until 6am it was fairly quiet (other than the road noise) so I did get some sleep. From all of the various properties I've stayed at in 2024 - for both personal and business - this location was top-notch (and that includes Marriott and non-Marriott properties, as well!) The room was smaller than I'm used to but it was for a wedding block versus a Bonvoy or Sapphire Reserve reservation, so I was told. Hence, no complimentary upgrade. I booked a room here to go to my friend's wedding in the area. The room was super clean and very spacious. With Marriott elite suite upgrade options, they "upgraded" us to a 2 Qs suite. But suites at Fairfield it seems are just one huge room no separation for living room/sleeping room. Parking was plentiful and though we didn't eat their complimentary breakfast, our friends liked it. I would definitely stay here again if there is another opportunity in the future. We have stayed at this location on at least 5 trips and the service continues to impress us. Specifically, we note Reina Chedid who welcomed us to the Fairfield at the front desk in San Marcos. Right away we knew that, again, we were in good hands. In fact, Reina remembered us from an earlier trip to the Fairfield when she helped us in our search for 55+ senior apartments in the area - our son and DiL live nearby. On our current visit Reina was able to provide directions and suggestions in several categories! - people who live in the area are the best sources of assistance. Also, we appreciated service from Louis at the front desk who several times helped us arrange off-hours room service. Also, he extended our checkout for a few hours so that we could have lunch with our family before we headed to the airport. As always Marriott came through with friendly and helpful front desk staff personnel. The hotel is well-managed. read more

Stayed here for one night. if your room is facing san Marcos blvd get ready to hear all of SoCals loudest vehicles going up and down all night. Hotel feels outdated on the inside and desperately needs a renovation. There are random stains throughout the hotel room and hairs and dust in corners not cleaned properly by housekeeping. The beds aren't very firm and old and sag quite a bit. Disappointing for what you pay per night for a Marriott brand hotel. Unfortunately would not recommend and stay again. read more

Two summers ago. I had a great experience here. I just stayed there in January of 2025 and it was a horrible experience. Saw bed bug by my nightstand which had bitten me on the leg twice. That night changed rooms to the third floor. It's really noisy until about midnight banging. Not sure what all that was about. Then went to get in the hot tub turned on the hot tub. It wasn't really even hot and the bubbles were filthy. It was very expensive to stay there which wasn't really my first complaint but everything else was. When I pulled out the nightstand to try to find the bug again. It was filthy behind it. It's really gone downhill. I was very sad to say I will never go back there. The staff acted as if I was crazy but I know better. They took responsibility for nothing. I have never written a Yelp review in my life but this I felt necessary. We had a lot of stressful curveballs come up in the beginning of our trip and they accommodated us to their best ability and it truly made a difference in our wedding prep/plan process. We, four of us in 2 rooms, stayed 3 nights (December 23-25). The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean, and there was plenty of parking too. Because we ate there 3 mornings in a row, the complimentary morning food got repetitive quickly. Powered eggs, sausages, bacon, a waffle maker, some fresh fruit, coffee, and juices too. Honestly when I was trying to find a hotel for the wedding guest for my daughter's wedding this was not my first choice. I thought a business hotel was not the right place, but how wrong I was. First, the staff set up my hotel block and was very accommodating with the guest. Second, they have a small patio where they have a bbq. We used this area to host a breakfast the day after my daughter's wedding. The staff, especially Paula brought out extra supplies for us. Great service. When we visit SD area we enjoy staying at this hotel. Very clean & easy access to freeway plus restaurants & shops are within walking distance. They also offer breakfast brunch for an affordable price or additional if you book with room. Rooms are very clean, housekeeping department are amazing people who do why they are expected to do. Absolutely worst experience. We had a room reservation, we called twice during the day to confirm and when we showed up at 7pm we now have no room. Marlene, Louis, and Rukmini at the front desk were, not of any assistance. The bathroom locked and there is no way to open it, front desk said he will send someone, but I just waited in vain! I asked for a swimming towels and they gave me a close to a hand towel! WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK THIS FACILITY. I recently book this hotel however due to severe weather I was not able to reach the hotel. I had promptly informed the hotel as soon as I knew it was not possible. The hotel staff informed me with "okay Thanks for letting us know." I was then charged anyways and no credit towards the stay. When I just called the hotel, Louie told me that I was tagged as "no show" so therefore would not get credited for the stay while I was FULLY charged. My best friend and I stayed here last month and had a great experience. The check in and check out process was very easy. Our double Queen room was the perfect size for us; for 2 girls getting ready in the morning, their bathroom was huge. We could've hosted a small party in there. Hahaha we did have a problem with the toilet and they quickly sent the maintenance up as soon as he was available. The hotel has lots of restaurants and stores near by as well. In the same parking lot is an Outback Steakhouse and down the street is a starbucks. I would say it's a great place to stay if you're going to be hanging out in the area, which we were visiting a friend that lives less than 5 mins away so it was very convenient for us. They are still offering their continental breakfast. They had different flavored bagels available and they were in lunch bags for guests to easily grab and keep the area clean. They also had coffee available. We were a bit disappointed in the lack of option, since we aren't huge bagel fans. I wished they had muffins atleast or maybe a different pastry. Our only real complaint was we heard house keeping talking to one another down the hall. It didn't seem like much talking though, it seemed more like yelling honestly. As if one person was at one end of the hallway and the other was on the opposite side...it was about 8am when we heard it so it did wake us up...otherwise we did enjoy our stay. read more

This is most unacceptable, I reserved and got a email confirmation for a handicap room for my disabled wife. When we arrived, we were told that there was no room for us even with the confirmation! They gave us another room with tub. My wife is paralyzed on one side and is half blind. We were not even provided a shower chair/stool so she could bath more safely. Currently here right now, as it's the only "decent" hotel near a wedding we attended last night. So, the majority of guests are staying here. We walked into our first room and immediately called the front desk to be transferred to a new room. The room smelled like mold, mildew and stinky feet. It was pungent and unbearable. The front desk associate was extremely accommodating (hence, 2 stars) and moved us within 5 min. The second room we are now in also smells like an athlete's gym bag...albeit not as strong as the first room. We have two small children under 2 years old who were extremely tired, so I caved and said "this is fine". It's clearly not fine. It's 4:37 am and I'm writing a Yelp review because I cannot sleep comfortably. The room *feels* dirty. There is a cluster of dead bugs on the ceiling of our bathroom. The bed smells. It's just awful. This is not only *my* experience. I called my sister and she said that she AND my brother moved rooms due to smell, as well. 3 different people having a similar negative experience is a pretty decent sample size to determine whether a place is "good" or not. I am extremely dissatisfied with my experience and strongly do not recommend this hotel if you are looking for a clean, comfortable and restful night of sleep. read more

A very pleasant stay. The staff at the reception desk are friendly and helpful. We were told that the hotel was built 5 years ago; so, relatively new. Housekeeping, hopefully, will keep it clean. If there is a downside, it is the scowling breakfast supervisor, and the housekeeper who came to pick up our trash who wanted us to empty the trashcans into a large bag by holding it up to us. Also, one reception clerk answered the phone in the middle of a transaction. The rule of thumb is to give the attention to the person in front of you. If you have to answer the phone, put them on a short hold to finish the transaction. Except for these, the stay was agreeable. read more

This little nugget will deliver anything you need, he sits by the front desk and is willing to work. Now, back to the accommodations of the humans. We had requested an early check-in and they accomodated us with no hesitation. The check-out is at noon which leaves you plenty of time to enjoy the free morning paper and the provided continental breakfast served between six to nine a.m.. The beds were ultimately comfortable. Nice white sheets, fluffy pillows, beautiful throw, and so soft. Even if another person rolled in bed, you are so nestled in - you would not feel the movement. The bathroom is very nice and bright, offering soaps, lotions, shampoo's, and conditioner's. As well, a blow dryer nicely placed in a coverage bag. And a plentiful supply of clean, fluffy towels. The only down fall on this visit was the noise from the street. Who would have known years ago that this once tiny city would be bustling as such. Now, lots of traffic and with that - noise. A trick to rid that is to keep the air conditioner, or heater blowing. Overall, a really great stay! read more

I loved our stay at the hotel. Why? The hotel was only 5 months old and everything is still practically brand new. You can still smell that new carpet smell when you walk down the lobby to your hotel room. Their amenities includes a pool, fitness center and complimentary daily breakfast and we are not talking about continental breakfast. They had waffles, eggs, sausage, cereal, fruit, yogurt, bagels, juices, coffee and other items. The front desk staff were great. They were very friendly and made sure we enjoyed our stay. The best part of our stay was the robot that delivers toiletries to your room upon request. It rings your phone when he is at your door. It's very high tech. The two stars are for the cleanliness of the hotel, which I appreciate. The room and beds were very clean and our room was ready very quickly. Unfortunately, we had 4 guests and the room was set up for 2 guests. I don't understand why Marriott asks how many guests when booking if they are only going to set up for 2 people. We were in a room with a king bed and a sofa bed, we checked in at around 6pm and noticed there was no bedding on the pull out couch and no extra bedding in the closet. So we called down for some blankets and pillows and were told they ran out of blankets for the night and could bring 1 pillow. Weird, never heard that one but again we did check in semi-late but also like I said 4 people and only the one blanket on the king size bed? Pretty ridiculous. I paid over $200 for one night and we couldn't even be provided with enough bedding... Also upon check in, the employee listed a ton of options for the grab and go breakfast but when we went down the next morning at 8am all they had were cold bagels and English muffins. read more

I love Fairfield Inns & usually choose to stay in one. This location suited me. The hotel is beautifully furnished & staff were extremely friendly! The breakfast spread was nicely done & replenished as needed. When I had to depart at 500am, I appreciated the urns of hot coffee ready to go. My room was comfortable, spacious, & spotlessly clean. The shower was fabulous! My only complaint is about the linens: The towels were pitiful....not fluffy & really not up to standards. The sheets were the thinnest I have ever seen....almost see through as you can see from my photo of the tv as seen through the sheet! Marriott usually does better than that so I was surprised & suggest new linens. read more

Beautiful new Marriot with high technology. Can you believe they have a robot that delivers the room service? So so crazy! Only down side was front desk staff were on causal side. Not very professional/attentive like at other Marriot branches. The other biggie was the walls were super thin and of course we got placed right next to the elevator (guess our gold status didn't help here). We gotten woken up starting at 430/5 ish till 11 am when we checked out. Major bummer. We would recommend requesting not to be by the elevator :) Extra perk the complimentary breakfast in am! We picked this hotel bc we were visiting legoland and this was a pretty affordable hotel (about 20min away from legoland and about $179/per night). It was also close to lots of restaurants. Had a pool. Free parking. Complimentary grab and go breakfast (ie plain bagel, blueberry bagel, English muffin, cinnamon bagel are left out in bags; fruit, cereal, sausage and cheese muffin are on request; there's a juice dispenser and coffee/tea/hot chocolate area).
