I'll agree with Quentin that the prices are in line with what you'd expect when a business is the only one available to a captive audience, but when you absolutely need something and you're stuck in the airport, this is the place to come to.

There's an awful lot of foot traffic flowing through the doors here, but staff are more than happy to take a moment to explain your medication or suggest a lip shade from the make up counter. Drop your prescription in and stop back after an elegant Roly's lunch or coffee at The French Paradox to pick it up. Even if you don't ask, there's a good chance you'll get a quick how-to on applications. Even better than it's speedy service is the hours; staying open till 9pm most nights means that after that speed-metal show at the RDS you can pick up some Panadol for your aching head on the way home.

I once went here to get some hayfever tablets and got awhole history lesson on Inchicore/Kilmainham :-) Whilst you may get a far better choice in the more modern larger chemists, I still love to go in here. Open until 10pm you probably won't find a later opening pharmacy in the area, and because of it's location on O'Connell Street near O'Connell Bridge you would find yourself passing it reasonably often. Location brings other things too, like the constant feeling that the security people are going to jump you if you move too close to anything in the shop! And price are a little higher than the more suburban pharmacies, but I guess you can't complain when the location and opening hours probably make that necessary.

I was sentenced to wallow in my own flu misery. At lunch break my colleague sent me off to the chemist, Dowlings being just up the road. Miserable, I spoke with a pharmasist about what tablets might keep me alive (at least feeling half alive) for the rest to the day, I am from Canada and had semi-recently moved and hadn't bought "foreign" tablets yet and my usual go to flu tablet is not sold in Ireland. I took the Pharmasist's recommendation and bought some Uniflu tablets. It didn't matter what they cost at that point, but I will report they were very reasonably priced. The pharmasist consulted me how to take them, as well as possible interaction with a medication I had been taking, and I was on my merry way, swallowing a pill as soon as I left the chemist. An hour later I felt almost normal. Dowlings was my god send that day, and I always go back there when in Dublin and in need of some tablets.

They offer really good advice and I usually go in here before I decide to visit the doctor. A perfect example was last month when I had a really sore throat. They now offer a "Sore Throat Test and Treat Service" so they took a swab from my throat and were able to tell me in a few minutes what the cause was. As it was not bacterial (Strep Throat) they told me i could treat it with over the counter medicines. If it had been Strep Throat they would have sent me to my doctor to get antibiotics. It only cost me €7.50 and saved me the time and expense of visiting my doctor. On many occasions they have given me really helpful advice about the medicines I was taking and they are very friendly and approachable.
