Buuuurrrrnnnns soooo good!…read more Saturdays are free days, open to the public. Burn is located on the sid eof the building adjoining Anytime Fitness, you ca't really see the sign from the road but just enter in the Verona Athletic Center parking lot and you'll see signs pointing you to Burn. Today was cardio day so we did HIIT workouts. It's about 15 min warm-up/cool down and 30 min of the actual workout. I saw all levels of fitness and body type of all sizes there so don't feel intimidated. Plus everyone was super nice and everyone was high-fiving everybody. Maybe it's not your thing, but at least for this time, we had to partner up in groups of three. So if you're not into that, just bring a friend or be prepared.

I LOVE THE GYM. I have been telling all my close friends about how much I like Orange Shoe so now…read moreI'm telling you strangers. There are all ages and fitness levels in the classes and everyone gets a great workout every time. It's not a competitive atmosphere-- somewhere between the "honor where your body is" vibe of a yoga studio and "drag this tire across the parking lot with you teeth, you pansy" vibe of Crossfit. They're not selling any protein powders or branded shit-- it's just about having a good workout and pushing yourself. FITNESS: you can do 1-1s or small group workouts. Small groups have anywhere between 2 and 12 other humans and most classes are a circuit type training which I love because it's not boring and the time goes fast. Lots of props around, but simply used so you're spending half the time figuring out how to work equipment. Are you new to fitness? Okay you'll be sore AF, but it'll be fun. Are you a workout queen? Whatever, you'll be sore too or else you're not trying. SPACE: The gym space itself is cool-- there are multiple room for different size groups and 1-1 sessions. Windows for the nature people, barnwood floors if you jam in the yoga room, and a non-contrived industrial decor vibe throughout. The bathrooms are always clean and comfortable. GOD BLESS YOU ORANGE SHOE FOR PROVIDING TOWELS. And hair ties. STAFF: I also like the trainers, which is probably worth mentioning. Everyone does a great and consistent job of being positive and also motivating. I hate being yelled at when I'm working out since it's hard enough without some manic workout king yelling about how you can do better than that. The trainers here can certainly deliver an ass kicking, but they also smile and say "good work" and adjust your form and other helpful stuff like that. The good team is obviously a testament to good management and training. They feel like a true team, but not in a gross culty way where you if you're new to the gym it's going to be weird like there's already a dynamic established and you're an outsider. Try it! Just don't start with Brent's class on day 1. ;)

I still have no rhythm, but the classes are welcoming and I feel comfortable stumbling along about a half beat behind the instructor. I've mostly stuck to the beginner belly dancing classes, but I've also made it out to ladies burlesque night and just recently to the chub club dance party kick-off. That last event was a ton of fun, and like all of dance life's classes was a great mix of ages, sizes, and dance experience. Once you attend your first class, the rest of your groupon classes never expire, so even if you can't make it out regularly it's still a good deal!

I've been a student here since January 2013 and became a volunteer instructor in August of 2013. Most, if not all, of the instructors here are volunteers. We all have "day jobs" but we love this place and owner Arielle so much that we teach classes in exchange for taking classes. Dance Life offers fitness classes such as Zumba, piyo, piloxing, Oula, dance classes like bellydance and ballet, and crossover classes like 'tone and tease' and burlesque fitness. The main entry has a cozy lobby space with overstuffed sofas, chairs, and decorative pillows where we all gather before classes begin. There is a changing area, two restrooms and a water dispenser in case you forgot your water bottle. Classes happen in either the large Sultana Studio or the smaller Peacock Studio. I'll post a photo of the wonderful peacock mural next time I'm at the studio. There is a small shop where you can stock up on bellydance hip scarves and other dance apparel. There is also a small practice studio that students can rent. In fact, when classes aren't in session the whole studio is available to rent! Parking spots are located along the walls of the building. It can get a little crowded on busy nights like special ladies nights events but it's usually not an issue. Come check it out, you just may find your home away from home.
