Not bad actually. But what nary comes to mind is a Trinidad and Tobago treasure trove of Caribbean treats. D's Modern Caribbean serves them up with style in the lovely town of Campbellford. I had the very reasonably priced half roti and salad with jerk chicken, of course. My friend had the same with goat, of course. And my wife had the cleverly and deliciously prepared mushrooms, cooked and styled like scallops, of course. Man alive! Flavours were spot on, heat was legit but not over the top. Service and ambiance were just right. D's gets an A+ in my book.

I should also add that the service was impeccable and the entire vibe was welcoming. We were also treated with several visits from the owner Dee who was happy to walk us through the menu, provide pairing advice, and even advice on how to blend some of the great flavours across our dishes. Although we went for mains, one great feature on the menu was the ability to order an appetizer platter which comes with four full sized app's. My only regret, I was too stuffed to enjoy some of their home made ice cream and the bread pudding. Should you ever find yourself in Northumberland County, I suggest you pop in for a visit!

The food was either wilted or from a package and reheated before coming to our table, you can taste the preservatives. The roast beef came with aluminum foil, the quality checks are clearly not performed prior to hitting the table. You can also see how burnt our packaged garlic toast was. The seafood salad was so stale, the three pieces of salmon all had skin on it, and the entire thing smelled so fishy. This was absolutely terrible. I sent back my seafood salad, because of terrible fish smell and the stale looking food, wilted salad leaves, and the roast beef was sent back as well because of the metal in the food. Or fish bowl did not contain any alcohol, it tasted like juice. If there was a zero star experience I would give it. But at least the restaurant was clean to earn the one star. I've reviewed several places, and this is probably the second time I've given a one star, but the only time I feel an establishment deserves less.
