Came here for a little work breakfast. I love small restaurants like this. We sat down and there's a little train that goes around the room up near the ceiling. I ordered the machaca skillet and biscuits and gravy. The gravy was thick and good but lacking a little salt. I don't typically add salt but did add just a little. The machaca skillet was excellent. The service was good and the people are very friendly, but the restaurant itself is dated and looks like it belongs in the 1900's. The food is not great, we ordered the burger and fries, and omelette from the specials and the hot turkey sandwich. We were not impressed, especially since we like the owners restaurant in Phelan. The burger was decent, just grisly, the omelette was good but the hot turkey wasn't very good. The vegetables smelled gross and the salad we got with it was slightly brown. The dressing was weird tasting, we tried both the ranch and blue cheese, both had a funky taste. I don't recommend this restaurant, but I do enjoy Grisseles in Phelan. read more

The service was really good. Super friendly and attentive staff. The ambience is relaxed, exactly what I would expect from a mom and pop establishment. I did find the menu prices to be a little on the high end, but the food was delicious. My hubby had the steak and eggs. He says the steak was really juicy and tender, and a decent size. I had the Machaca with eggs. It was tasty and so was their green salsa. They were kind enough to make an accommodation for me, and that was truly appreciated. My husband and I are just making our way through all the different establishments in the high desert and not wanting to go back to the same place over and over, but this one will be on the list of placed to revisit if we are in the area. read more

The mashed potatoes were not white. I'm not sure what or where they came from but, I want white fluffy potatoes not a small little scoop of brownish yuck. The corn was ok. Everything was great. The food was hometown cooking. The latino staff is great, friendly, and very attentive. The only bad thing I can say is that I personally hate when I walk into a business and they have fox news on the TV. I can't stand having to eat my food while listening to racist bigotry. I prefer not to hear or watch fake news while I'm trying to eat a sensible lunch or dinner. It really says a lot about the ownership when they subject their clientele to such nonsense! Spring House is an amazing place to eat. I've taken my cousin who is a really hard critic and he had nothing but nice things to say. I also took my mother in law and father in law and they enjoyed it also. My wife and I find ourselves there at least once a week. I consider this place a hit or miss. The first time I went, it was ok, nothing special, just got myself an omelet. The second time I went, I decided to get the sirloin steak and eggs breakfast. I asked for my steak to be medium rear. When my steak arrived, it felt warm, but after cutting into it, it felt colder and colder the closer it was to the center. The Springhouse is the place to go to when you are craving good food at great prices. Portion size is generous. I have been coming here for many years and is my go to place when I want something homey. Their spaghetti and meatballs is one of the best I have ever had! The meat sauce actually has meat in it! It comes with a soup or salad. Their soups are homemade and there are at least two to choose from daily. The vegetable beef and the navy bean are my favorites. If the spaghetti is on special, a dessert is included. I opt for the bread pudding which has a nice, custard-like texture. There is canned fruit and raisins in the puddling along with a generous portion of whipped cream on top. Cinnamon sugar is sprinkled on the cream which is a nice touch! There is a California Chicken Salad for when one wants to eat healthier. The chicken breast is grilled and has a good flavor. Not dry at all. The salad is served with avocado, bacon, and hard boiled eggs. It is generous in size as well. I like to get their Prime Rib Special on the weekends. The prime rib is flavorful and the price is reasonable. It comes with a soup or salad, choice of potato, a vegetable, and dessert. Their baked potatoes are soft and, if you add the butter and sour cream, they become quite creamy in texture. There is a BBQ rib special available which is tasty. The rib bones from the prime rib roast are served in a tangy sauce. It is a flavorful, tender beefy alternative. The Springhouse has special dinners for the holidays as well. I have spent many Thanksgivings and Christmases at the restaurant. There are usually at least three entree choices with the associated holiday side dishes. There is a train set that runs on an elevated track near the ceiling. It is fun watching the train travel around the restaurant. read more

Just ledt this restaurant. This is oir second time here. The first I enjoyed my food but my husband had an achy tooth and couldn't really eat much. So we decided to come here and as expected, it was not disappointing at all. I had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. The chicken was sooo good. My husband had the chili side with french fries and he said it was very good, too. Service was nice and quick. We did not wait long for our food and the staff seem pretty friendly with everyone. Drove 30 minutes to come here, my husband had tried it a few days back. The place was packed, wait time was less than 10 minutes. Place had a country feel, there's even a beautiful cute train that goes around the restaurant. Server's were attentive had our drinks in no time. Server took our order as soon as drinks were served. The food was soooooooo delicious!!! Biscuits and Gravy are Homemade, everything was hot and delicious. Portions are big, I need those Portions with 3 boys and My Husband. How else can I say it? This restaurant -used- to be nice. A few years ago the owners changed. I remember seeing the owner being a dick to his waitresses. Came in today for brunch, thinking things would be better. All new staff and his hairline has receded. The good? It's cheap. Sort of. Kids ate for $6 but they got chocolate chip pancakes and their choice of drink without a refill. Unless they get a soda. No thanks. The bad? Well, the restaurant used to have a train running on tracks above the customers. Except my kids noticed it wasn't running right away. They asked the owner to turn it on and it only runs in reverse. My kids asked why and he said it doesn't go forward anymore and he doesn't know why. It's worn out. My omelette was so full of cheese it was a grease pit. And the country potatoes were thrown on my plate with half cooked onions and bell peppers. Gross. And their chocolate chip pancakes? Tossed on the plate like they really DGAF. And they were chocolate chip pancakes. They couldn't have bothered to actually mix the pancakes with the chips. They just threw the chips on the grill and poured batter on. So lazy. My experience eating in has never been impressive, average at best. The restaurant has a unique decor and the selection of food available is quite extensive (maybe too extensive). I haven't been inside the restaurant in awhile, for the most part we order from here for delivery. The portion sizes are impressive for the cost and I'm always open to order my eggs over easy because they arrive to our door warm and still perfectly cooked which is a feat in itself for many places. You know the place, the one with the model train- The Spring House! This diner has been a landmark in Hesperia since I moved to the high desert in 1990. It's gone through multiple ownership and survived the pandemic! I'm so glad it's still around. This is an old fashioned diner with a large menu. The servers are so nice and friendly. The food has never disappointed. It's my go to for breakfast or lunch. I have never had anything that I didn't like. My favorite is the eggs Benedict! The hubby loves the Ruben Sandwich. They have train tracks built close to the ceiling, and a train going around the restaurant. It's a really sweet touch, and our server made us feel really comfortable. I should have gotten her name, but she was very sweet and the food came out quicker than we expected! I ordered the Vegetable skillet. I asked for some salsa and our server brought me my favorite Cholula sauce, along with their house salsa! To my surprise it had mango in it. OHHH... man, it was SO GOOD!!! We heard Spring House Restaurant in Hesperia Ca was under new ownership so we took a chance. I'm so glad we did. Tasty, crispy Southern Fried chicken dinner, split pea and clam chowder soup and carrot cake for dessert (no that wasn't all my food). Inexpensive and all fresh. I have read many comments on other dishes that are awesome. What impressed me the most was the staff. They were so sweet and accommodating-it's so hard to find good customer service these days.
