As a Black woman, seeking excellent healthcare has always been stressful. We are treated differently, and I've always had to fight to get proper health care. At first, I was so nervous about this procedure because I hate needles, and I didn't know if I would be treated like a human being. I've wanted to freeze my eggs for a while because I haven't found my life partner yet. So, I wanted to make sure that I had options for my future. Thank you to everyone at Oakland Spring Fertility for giving me such a fantastic experience. But, I especially want to thank Dr. Okeigwe for guiding me through the process of freezing my eggs. She's a GEM, and it's so rare to find a Black fertility doctor. I was and still am ECSTATIC that she was my doctor! She took such great care of me, and I was informed every step of the way of who, what, where, and why of everything I needed to know. Dr. Okeigwe even helped me heal a trigger. I had an abortion when I was 20 years old, and unfortunately, the doctor and nurses treated me like an animal and pinned me down while they did the procedure. So from there on, every time I went to an OBGYN and put my legs up, I would go into shock from that experience. I never thought that trigger was going to be healed. But, because Dr. Okeigwe listened to my story, answered all my questions, and equipped me with all of my options, the trigger began to go away. It got to the point where I would come in for a check-up, and we would laugh, and before I knew it, I was already lying down, looking up at all of my eggs progressing. This is why representation matters, and I know for a fact that I would not have received a better experience anywhere else. Give this woman a raise and hire more diverse fertility doctors!

I came to Sping when I was 4 years into my infertility journey at another big hospital clinic where I went through multiple IUIs and IVF cycles. I was at the point of desperation and despair but wanted to give it one more shot. Every single thing was better at Spring, from the very first email outreach to schedule my appointment, to the lovely and peaceful Oakland office, and the super clear pricing. Everyone I interacted with here was just so human and easy to communicate with and get fast responses from. This was really mind blowing after experiencing so much stress and frustration dealing with simple admin stuff at my last clinic. I think Dr. Minjarez is the best!! I got to see her for every monitoring appointment except when I had to come to the sf office on weekends. She knows all about the latest techniques and data from the newest studies so she adjusted my protocol and did some things differently than my last RE. I really felt that everything was personalized to my situation and it wasn't just copy/paste for each patient. She is also kind and understanding and on top of everything. My egg retrieval and transfers were done in SF as Oakland is just for monitoring and consults, and the only downside was that there isn't any privacy in pre-op there making it kind of uncomfortable. Small price to pay though. I'm now 6 months into my pregnancy but I would give spring 5 stars whatever the results were. I would come back here in a second for future cycles and will forever be grateful to the whole team here for their care.

Thank you so much Spring, you helped us bring this amazing child into the world. We love her so much.

RSC refused to help, saying that they don't keep records (and unfortunately, donor conception clinics are not required to do so anywhere in the USA). It turns out that related issues ARE in the family history (NOT known at the time of donation, so they weren't in the records my parents received, but many years later), but I did not get to find that out from RSC. This endangered my life, and they did not care at all. This could happen to your family too! Please protect your children by not using an anonymous donor, so that they have access to ACCURATE AND UPDATED medical information. Nowhere in America are clinics required to verify the medical information that donors report, and they are not required to keep records, so you MUST do that work for your family yourself by choosing an open ID or known donor. Then even if RSC refuses to help you, you can keep your child alive and healthy. Their doctors are great, at least in my family's experience, but their ethics and their approach to donor conception are not.

I thought the doctors were good and thorough and new what they were talking about but no one else…read moredid. They also would not tailor the experience to you. For example- i did not need a bunch of the genetic tests but not inly did I have to have them done but dine with a specific company. I also had to speak with a specific therapist they contracted with which screams kick back to me and was really expensive. There are alot of ways to have therapy and I would not be surprised if many people with fertility concerns already have a therapist. Similarly I work at a hospital and do not need training on how to use a needle but there is a required course on it. The biggest issue I had was no one but the doctors new the plan. So when you call in for refills they may be reading off an algorithm and have no idea what you need and do not need. I transferred care to a different fertility clinic and had a much better experience and they also had all sorts of discounts for self pay patients, would have as much done by your insurance as possible ( like having an in network person order your labs or do your ultrasounds) and since it was a larger location they were doing alot of research. Once again the doctors are great but the rest of the team and/or the algorithm they use to treat you was not.

Our experience with Spring Fertility was disappointing from start to finish. We came in hopeful,…read morebut quickly realized this clinic was not the right fit for us as a same-sex couple. We've spoken with multiple people who have used their services, and the feedback is truly mixed--some had good experiences, others barely satisfactory and some were REALLY BAD. Unfortunately, ours fell on the negative end. If you are a heterosexual couple, you may have a smoother experience. However, as a same-sex couple, we did not feel welcomed or supported. We've since connected with five other LGBTQ couples who shared very similar concerns, which says a lot about a pattern rather than a one-off experience. Our doctor, Dr. Nam Tran, came across as arrogant and condescending which has the same tones in some of the other reviews on this platform. At multiple points, we felt like we were wasting his time rather than being valued patients during what is already a very emotional and vulnerable process. He was late and then proceeded to say he has another appointment and we didn't get the full time. We constantly had to call the clinic because they don't call back after leaving a message from the previous week. We always were on time for our appointments and were always delayed to be taken in. While the clinic may now have an LGBTQ staff member, that alone does not make the environment inclusive or affirming. Our experience did not reflect meaningful change or genuine understanding. We ultimately decided to leave and seek care elsewhere, which was the best decision for us. For anyone considering this clinic, we strongly recommend doing thorough research. There are lawsuits filed in 2025 in California alleging negligence and embryo loss, with concerns raised about prioritizing profit over patient care. These are serious issues and worth looking into before making such an important decision. We would not recommend this clinic to LGBTQ couples seeking compassionate, respectful fertility care. That's my cyst. It took up my entire lower abdomen and they performed my retrieval anyway without ever mentioning it to me, despite having daily ultrasounds. Initially, after my retrieval, I was in excruciating pain when I walked, slept, etc. When I called, they told me to take Tylenol. I felt like I had a bowling ball on my pelvis and cried almost every day. This pain lasted until my cystectomy months later. After the retrieval my doctor flippantly mentioned I had a cyst, made it sound like no big deal, and encouraged me to do a second round. She had me order thousands of dollars in medication and come into the office before telling me I actually needed surgery first and couldn't proceed. I had to throw away all of the medicine. They should have never performed my first retrieval and they certainly should not have encouraged a second. I now question every medical recommendation I receive because of this experience. Be careful when coming here for your fertility needs. The picture speaks for itself.

I was repeatedly given instructions by nurses that were wrong or conflicted with orders the doctor had entered into the patient portal. I was told to get blood tests that I didn't need because I was on another medication. I wasn't told about a certain test I could have gotten from my general doctor so I ended up being out of pocket for it. Complained to Dr. McQueen. Did not improve. I was given the wrong directions on how to administer two different medications during my FET cycle. And this happened after I complained to the doctor and she acknowledged my experience. She even told me that I should rely on the patient portal and not the communication portal from nurses. Who would assume they were being given wrong information and then know to check what the doctor ordered??? Utterly ridiculous failure to take responsibility for incompetent staff. I went to the Danville location for an ultrasound one week during my cycle, and they mismeasured (NP named Doris) the thickness of my uterus and made me worry that I wasn't progressing. The doctor's solution was to make me drive all the way to San Francisco to have her do it again when clinic staff in Danville should've done it correctly the first time. In addition to this, the two times I met the doctor, she was impersonal, rushed, and barely engaged me about anything. Mid conversation on the communication portal I'd be handed off to a nurse. Really felt like just a number or worse, a credit card from this doctor. On transfer day she didn't even know the sex of my embryo. Belted out instructions on her way out the door! Add to that I was told to get an expensive consultation and cardiac test merely because of my age (that I had basically already done at a previous clinic) and told to do so at the very last minute which delayed my cycle because of the late information. When I repeatedly contacted this clinic to ask why they hadn't told me about a $500 charge they never got contacted me back. Suffice it to say the transfer was unsuccessful and I will always wonder if it's because of the general negligence of the clinic on a repeated basis. I'm now put to the expense and trouble of having to change clinics again because I don't trust these people to touch me again. Just horrifically disappointing and I would never recommend anyone to this clinic. No one needs to be stressed out when they're trying to get pregnant. Doctors are responsible when their staff gives out bad information. And when it doesn't improve when you tell the doctor multiple times, it's the doctor's fault. Dr. Morin, director, do better running your clinics. (I'm sure the clinic will respond that they can't respond because of privacy laws. They give that canned answer on every review, and use it to avoid responding to people's substantive concerns. To staff: coming from an attorney, that is a BS response and responding on that level doesn't entail revealing any confidential information. Believe all of the reviews about the disorganization of this office and avoid it like the plague.)

At worst, it seems like she may not actually care about her patients at all beyond seeing them as potential stats with which to bolster her career and her own self-image. After about four months of struggling with PPD, I made the decision to pursue permanent birth control a decision I now deeply regret. I was told by Dr. Cheruba Prabakarthat my tubes could not be tied and that they had to be removed. During the consultation, she asked if I wanted more children. At the time, while clearly struggling emotionally, I said no. She stated that since I was 39, it was a good age for this procedure if I did not want more children. I understand that the decision was 100% mine, however the state of mind I was in was not capable of making a life-changing, irreversible decision. I strongly believe that when working with women -- especially postpartum women -- it is a physician's responsibility to recognize warning signs of postpartum depression and emotional distress and to implement safeguards in their practice. What I needed at that time was help and support for my PPD, not a permanent procedure that altered my body forever. Instead, the process felt quick and not thorough. There was no screening for postpartum depression, no encouragement to wait, and no discussion about how temporary emotional states can affect long-term decisions. I am now facing IVF, with no guarantee that my insurance will cover it since this is considered a decision I made for myself.
