The house in question is Victorian style, 2 1/2 stories tall, with numerous gables, dormers, a turret with curves, and an octagon shaped porch. It was covered with the original shakes, and needed plywood installed before the new roof went down. This is to emphasize the scope and complexity of the job. There was a 4 day window of good weather. The contractor showed up Monday AM with about 6 vehicles, including 2 or 3 support rigs that held porta-jon and cleanup tools, another just for ladders and rigging, etc. Very organized and professional. 13 workers to start with. Each day's progress was nothing short of amazing. No one ever slacked off, yet morale seemed high. The jobsite was cleaned each evening. They were completely finished by noon Thursday, just barely beating the rain. The finished work looks very good. I was made aware of the cost by my neighbor. Judging be the size, scope, and difficulty of the job, and the speed of completion and quality of work done, I'd say it was a very reasonable price.
