I have never had glasses before but it was time. I searched for the best in the area online and…read moreasked my family for a referral. All roads led to Eyecare Associates. I am a new patient. Setting up the appointment was a straight forward experience. I called in and got a receptionist right away. I was given an appointment just days away. It was fortunate considering the next available time was months away. I wanted to be seen as soon as possible and they made that happen for me. I was given great directions on how to get to the office and informed of what to expect upon my arrival. I was calmed down when I was getting anxious. I was encouraged to submit documents online in preparation for the appointment. I submitted all the documents for new patient. The day of the visit I was running late. It was my fault, had a work thing. I arrived 15 minutes after the scheduled appointment time. Before I could ask for mercy it was granted by Ms. Pineda at the front desk. I was handed the new patient forms. I was grateful. I had to refill all the paperwork because it wasn't received. Minor technical issue. Not a big deal. I waited patiently and watched the receptionist treat everyone with respect, care, and urgency. I felt like I was in a place that cares about patients. I was then admitted for testing and quickly got to Dr. Thibodaux. He was great with me. He shared a ton of knowledge with care and made me feel comfortable with the news. I avoided eye dentist before because of prior experiences with healthcare professionals. This more than restored my faith. I am glad I went there. I got the care I wanted with the knowledge I need to improve my overall health.

Bathroom was in need of attention. It is a large practice. I wanted to go to the uptown office but because I wanted evaluation for cataracts, I had to go to the Metairie office. I was seen by a technician who wore sweatpants as a uniform. Seriously? She did the refraction. Several times I told her that the images were NOT clear to me. Eyes examined and seen by Dr. Kurica who said I didn't have cataracts. Great. Given an rx and he said, "It's practically the same as your old one; I just tweaked it a bit". Got glasses made at Costco and the rx was WAY off. Costco said there was a BIG difference between previous rx and new one. Definitely not a "tweaking". Tried to get a return appointment for correction and was told I had to see same doctor and got an appointment for 3 weeks later! For second visit, the waiting room was completely packed. Several people in wheelchairs. Was seen by same technician as first time. When I explained my situation she immediately blamed Costco for error. When I pointed out that the rx he gave me was significantly different from my previous rx, in spite of him telling me he only "tweaked it", she said, "Well his idea of tweaking is bigger than our idea of it". ???? Went back to waiting room but it was so crowded I chose to wait in the hall. Looked like a COVID factory in there. My appointment was at 1:45. By 3:00 I still had not seen the doctor. I asked a few times about the delay and was told they were really busy (obviously). Clearly he was over scheduled. Finally I grabbed the doc between exam rooms and told him I'd been there since 1:45. Shortly after I was roomed. Doctor came in and did his own refraction and admitted the technician did it wrong. Gave me new rx. So I had two visits and an afternoon blown because of technician's incompetence. Not to mention time and material wasted by Costco. Now I have to go back and get another pair. I do not recommend this practice. No offense to Dr. Kurica but his staff needs training and improved dress code to look professional, and scheduling needs correction.

Jeffrey H Singer, MD - Going in to hopefully to transform my view of the world with PRK surgery and experience the freedom of clear, unobstructed vision.

I am completely satisfied with my experience & results with the Haley-Singer team. They exceeded…read morethe expectations of my imagination. 1 month after the surgery I now possess 20/25 vision. Beforehand, I could not see the big E during an eye exam without my glasses. At this time my eyes are quite healed, though they will continue to get better, and my vision is likely to further improve. I am not having difficulty with blurred vision or other common and relatively short-term post-surgery side effects. Summary of Haley-Singer pros: No hidden fees; great pricing; great service package; compassionate, passionate, experienced doctors; knowledgeable clinical staff at all levels; clear & concise verbal & written communication every step of the way provided by doctors and all clinical staff; flexible; comfortable & well-kept office locations. Summary of cons: I can't think of any suggestions for improvement, and I have not experienced any dissatisfactions at this point. Experience of pros in detail: No Hidden Fees: Originally, I went to another doctor for an assessment to see if I qualified for PRK. That doctor's equipment failed and he referred me to Dr. Singer's office. From the beginning, my first phone conversation with one of the Haley-Singer clerical workers, I had received very a clear and direct understanding of the expenses verbally and in documentation. Great Pricing: I found that receiving PRK treatment from Haley-Singer team was a few hundred dollars cheaper than from other clinics. Additionally, I found the medicine to not be a great expense. the necessary antibiotic and steroid eye drops were generic brands, as far as I understand after co-paying with my health insurance, so they were not costly. I did not fill the prescription for the pain or sleep medicine (not recommended by the doctor),so I am not sure about the costliness of those items. Great Service Package: The services are all included in the surgery fee, including the required follow up appointments. This was great because it relieved me of uncertainties regarding appointment scheduling and financials during the time of recovery. Moreover, I learned that if extra follow up appointments were needed, then they would most likely be given as part of the package deal. Compassionate & Passionate: Dr. Singer recommended that I get High Definition PRK based on my characteristics. Regardless, I selected to only get PRK because I could not really afford the upgrade since I just graduated from college. After learning about my situation he upgraded me to High Definition PRK and only charged me for getting standard PRK. The fact that he did this let me know he truly believes in his recommendations as a doctor and cares about his patients. Dr. Estrada conducts charitable work in a foreign country to help people obtain glasses that they would not otherwise be able to get for one reason or another. The fact of that in conjunction with my experience with her solidified my impression of her as being a most compassionate doctor that is deeply committed to medicine and humanitarianism. Experienced: Dr. Singer is recognized as having the most experience with performing PRK and LASIK surgery in the New Orleans region. I learned this from websites that share summarized stats of doctors work experience. The stats showed me that Dr. Singer has performed the most PRK & Lasik surgeries in the New Orleans area comparatively. This provided confidence and his work experience was recognized intuitively when meeting him and receiving the surgery. Knowledgeable staff at all levels: Each type of worker of the Haley-Singer team that I communicated with was able to answer my questions. They have the knowledge of their services understood like the back of their hand. Clear and concise communication: All verbal and oral instructions were clear and simple to understand. The documents are printed with great tact in mind. Each document is provided with extra-large print that is most helpful especially when trying to read during initial stages of recovery. Moreover, during the surgery, Dr. Singer explained each thing that was going to happen and its purpose. This was very reliving since the PRK surgery had some very strange experiences that were reminiscent of science fiction films. Flexible: As I said, I did not choose to use painkillers or sleeping medication for recovery. Additionally, I chose to use a bus to get home after the operation. Both of these things are not recommended for this type of operation by doctors, in general. Despite my going against Dr. Singer's recommendations, I received the utmost kindness, concern, and useful tips for making it through the painful and difficult experience my choice entailed. Comfortable and well-kept locations: Both locations host a very comfortable atmosphere. In particular, the atmosphere of the location where the surgery is conducted was soothing for me.

She…read moremisdiagnosed my mother for an eye disease and treated her with high doses of steroids, which took a major toll on her overall health. I had a chance to meet her at what wound up being my moms last doctors appointment with her. I couldn't understand how the numbers she based my moms plan of care on seemed to fluctuate and her biopsy was inconclusive yet she was treated so aggressively. Dr VIves was very defensive and it didn't sit well with me that her doctor seemed to not take my mom's health all that seriously. When we got a second opinion, the doctor was unsure that my mom had the disease but highly recommended coming off the steroid. At about the same time my mom asked Dr Vives to be placed on a different medicine and Dr Vives obliged. Unfortunately for my mother, she was told the incorrect dose, which after a matter of weeks ate at my mothers colon and she now has an ostemy bag. A year after being treated and being weaned off the medicine she placed her on, my mom shows no signs of having the disease that started this all off. It breaks my heart constantly that this woman, who appears over worked and under staffed (with all the patients it appears she can afford to hire more help) treated my moms health so carelessly like she was just a number or maybe even just a dollar. It concerned me the number of kids she saw. If you decide to see this doctor or are seeing this doctor, make sure you get a second opinion ASAP. I personally can't say anything nice about her from my experience and I'd give her zero stars if I could. KKi

Weeks later, I got a surprise bill and was told -- by billing, not my doctor -- that I supposedly have a "medical" eye condition. News to me! The doctor never mentioned it, never treated it, and yet that's how they coded the visit. Because of that, my regular eye exam wasn't covered by vision insurance. So now I've got no diagnosis, no treatment, and no answers -- just another bill and a lot of unanswered calls. If you value transparency and communication, look elsewhere.

I gave her all the information needed to check the girls insurance. Even gave her my social and all. I asked her SEVERAL times if she had verified that they in fact took my insurance prior to making the appointments. She told me yes they accept the insurance and then made both appointments. Fast forward to today, I called this morning to verify the appointment and to make sure everything was ok given the weather. I took time off from work, took my babies out of the house in this cold just to be told that they don't accept my insurance, that I'd have to pay 120.00 per child to have them seen. I am furious because I asked several times if the insurance was accepted. I spoke with 2 people in the office and they are both incompetent! How hard is it to put info in a computer and say yes or no for insurance verification. This would have been avoided. Whoever answers the phones need to listen and stop rushing people off the phone! You have ONE job!
