So after a few weeks, on a night when my wife and I couldn't be bothered cooking we made an order. For two pieces of fish, chips, calamari and some potato scallops we paid under $20. We went down to picked up our order and found that the street outside was stacked with illegally parked cars and that The Codfather was pumping with people. My wife and I agreed that this looked like a good indication about the food we were about to eat. When my name was called out, the woman at the counter was really friendly. I was surprised when she said, with no second though to it, that we were new in the area. Happy with the in store experience we went home. We unwrapped the paper and were pleased to see a plethora of golden fried seafood and potato goods. The food smelled and tasted as brilliantly as it looked. The highlight was the potato scallops in batter, delicious. Needless to say, we are considered locals now.

Nice now it has been renovated, all modern and the business seems revitalised. Average waiting time…read moreand the food is moderately priced. Parking on the street and the old ticket and call your number system. All clean and tidy. A few interesting spelling mistakes on the board but pretty good.

When I went there with my father, we got a combo for two at $38. It was mid afternoon and there were a number of people sitting down, so we thought we'd too. Inside D'lsih Fish, I noticed it was kind of dark, like a fish grotto I guess and kind of mysterious. Maybe it was just me, but it was the vibe I got. It didn't take long for our order to come out and it was huge, even if they forgot to plate up my calamari and dad didn't have his prawns we probably couldn't have finished what was before us. But we were surely going to try. After we pointed this out what was missing from our orders, the lady behind the counter made sure that they were at our table in less than five minutes. With complete meals we began to charge ahead. We didn't manage to finish the combo, probably because we didn't get really excited with what we were eating. It was good, don't get me wrong, but there was nothing to make us push that pain barriers because of pure deliciousness.

Their food is fairly standard, as is their service. I always notice that it's very popular with families with young children. I guess that's because you can't go wrong with getting kids to eat fish and chips, and the casual atmosphere at D'Lish Fish is tolerant of kids running round or screeching etc. The servings here are very generous and the food is ready fast which is always a plus when you have a hankering for fish and chips. If I were to eat in I'd recommend getting one of the footpath tables because inside can get a little cramped and noisy, especially in the early evening when there are lots of kids around. D'Lish Fish is a fish and chip shop and it does its job. It's nothing amazing, but sometimes you don't need amazing you just need a traditional takeaway dinner.

On the way back one day I convinced my wife we should go in and give it a try before we hit home. When we arrived to the car park the seats were all taken and there was a line up to the counter. We peeped the prices and they were a little more expensive than we expected but I thought the solid patronage was a good indicator to how the meal would be. We ordered our fish and chip meal with a burger to trial. It cost us close to thirty dollars for what we bought. The surprising thing was that the burger was a third of the over all price. It took about twenty minutes for our order to come out, which wasn't too bad considering the line up and when we got home and opened our feast we were pretty happy with the amount of goods we received. There was nothing too special about the fish and chips, pretty stock standard. Still everything was fresh. The burger was the standout, even after the ten minute drive back it kept its consistency and wasn't all wet as I expected. Fish On Line is worth a chow visit in my books.
