I am deeply in lust with almost everything in this shop. Unlike Industria on Gertrude Street, the…read morefurniture in Nook feels really warm and homely. It's possibly because it's a smaller space and there is a lot of wood and primary colours. Whatever the reason, it's a totally gorgeous shop. The owners have clearly got a bit of a fetish for medical chic with everything from ointment bottles to a vintage first aid cabinet - very cute. There's also vintage clothes and accessories, and heaps of Brittannia owing to the English owners. The prices are pretty reasonable, and when I expressed an interest in an adorable industrial stool the lovely lady (who's name I can't remember despite chatting to for a good half an hour) offered to knock off $50 so clearly there's room to bargain. It's still not as cheap as some eBay vintage stores or flea markets, but given it's pre-curated and in such a central location it's good value. Besides, on my past few trips to Camberwell Market I've found the prices obscene and stall holders unwilling to barter.

Head to Nook Vintage and redecorate my house I say this because I doubt I will ever have the money to buy anything from here. But hey, isn't that the same as every other vintage furniture store in Melbourne? This is a very small shop that stocks some very exciting stuff - wooden chairs, vintage cabinets, oversized pigeonhole shelves and old school luggage trunks galore. A great place to head if you are looking for a bit of inspiration or if you just love a good window shop! But if you are lucky enough to be able to afford anything from Nook Vintage I don't think we can be friends. Sorry.

The hot water service had some sort of issue with the way things were going, and decided to show mum who the boss was, so it spat the dummy, and at the same time, spat a whole heap of water through the house. The worst bit was the smell of wet, rotting carpet while we waited for the insurer to pay up so we could go and fix it. We went to Carpet Call at Nunawading. I was really impressed with the range of carpets and other floor coverings that they had there, and if they didn't have what we wanted, they could order it in. The staff were really friendly, and after shopping around at a few other places, we decided to go with the really quite good quote provided by Carpet Call. The guys who laid the carpet were really professional and friendly too. They even helped me move a few of the larger items that would have been a struggle on my own. I really recommend this place.

None of the TEN other alternatives we chose were available. Then they tried to "upsell" us to a poorer quality carpet for more money. On top of that it took weeks for us to get our deposit back. Bad experience all around.

On December 3rd a guy came out to the house and gave us a quote for one shutter. We gave him a $300…read moredeposit and was told the shutter would be installed in January as it was coming up to Christmas. By mid January we still hadn't received a call about installation so I rang the 1800 number to find out what the delay was. The woman on the phone said they had an extra long break over Christmas and would be ready soon. Call again end of January and she tells me they will look in to it and get back to me so I wait for a call but nobody bothers calling back. A week later I call again and now she tells me this shutter has been a nightmare and should be ready in a week. Still nothing after a week so I call for the 4th time, once again she will look in to it and call me back but never does. I call back again a few days later and she tells me the shutter finally arrived from the factory a week ago and I should had received a call to organise installation. She said the guy will call me over the weekend, I wait until Saturday afternoon and call back the 1800 number only to be told by a very rude woman that it's Sunday and they aren't open weekends. Finally late on Sunday afternoon the guy calls to say he can install the shutter in the morning. He comes out and does a fantastic job installing the shutter but tells us we have to wait to receive a call from the electrician who will come out and finish the job. A few days later I call the 1800 number to let them know we still haven't heard from the electrician and they said they will look into it. 3 hours later the electrician calls to say they are waiting out the front. We rush home and they come inside and start drilling 3 huge 10mm holes into the timber panel feature wall. I hand them a box that the installation guy left behind and they say oh no this is a remote, we thought we were installing a different system that has a controller on the wall. That means they put 3 huge holes in the wall for nothing and they offer to cover it with a plastic light switch plate which looks awful but what other choice do we have. He said he can mount the remote control holder to the plate on the wall so it looks like it belongs there but when he opens the controller box there is no holder in there because someone has lost it! Now we have a silly looking plastic box on the wall and can't even attach the remote control to it! We will never recommend this company to anyone as the whole experience has been an absolute nightmare. Upon further investigation we discovered the factory who makes the shutters is actually located in China (I'm guessing that's why it takes so long) and this company also goes by the name ACA Home Improvements amongst other things. Please do yourself a favour and avoid them like the plauge!!!!

Carpet Court organized the tradesman to come around to measure and quote. And after we bought it, then to fit it.
