We dropped off a trench coat for cleaning and tightening of buttons. Upon pick-up, we noticed that an epaulet and small strap on the shoulder were missing, while the other epaulet was hanging, half ripped off and held on with a safety pin. It looked as if the work was unfinished. We went back to inquire and were met with antagonism, which we found highly unprofessional. The male, who I'm guessing is the owner, came out without a mask and began explaining loudly, talking over me, that he 'specifically' remembers my jacket out of the hundreds hanging, and that he had noticed it had missing parts (he further claimed that he had forgotten to make a note of this, while claiming that his staff is very thorough and would never miss this). I do not deny the work ethic or thoroughness of the staff, but with the sheer volume of clothing in this shop everyday, there would be room for human error, as there is with any business of this kind. The other employee, a blonde woman, was kinder at first and told us that she would look for the pieces, sew back the one epaulet, and call us back later the same day. Unfortunately, she never followed up, so we went in the next day and were met by the woman again. She explained that she hadn't found any pieces and 'strongly believes that it had been brought in that way'. The epaulet was also not sewn back on, like she promised they would do. I asked her whether they had a policy to make a note of missing pieces when an item of clothing is brought in - she put her head down and ignored my question. I assured her that the jacket was brought in totally complete, with no missing or ripped pieces. In fact, the pieces that are missing clearly point to it being a dry cleaner issue; the epaulet and straps are decorative so there would no reason to remove these pieces unless the jacket was getting thoroughly cleaned/fixed. It's obvious something went wrong during the process. During the course of the conversation, the woman became very condescending and visibly angry. She refused to take any responsibility, further insinuating that I am a liar/fraud. I am extremely disappointed at the way people from the local community are treated at this store - these folks need to work on customer service and conflict resolution skills (and for the male owner, following Public Health guidelines, which is very worrisome during COVID). What was most disappointing is that there was no solution provided, nor any accountability taken. When we asked her what she can do for us at this point to remedy the situation or come to a shared resolution, she just shook her head and said that the store did nothing wrong. Now I am left with an incomplete, damaged garment.

I brought a small leather backpack here with a broken zipper hoping to get the zipper repaired. I…read morewas informed that it may not be possible but they would try and asked me to leave a $30 deposit. I returned today and was very disappointed with the repair. The new zipper appears to be made of very cheap material and is difficult to open and close. All of the original metal detailing on the backpack, including a smaller intact zipper, is bronze in colour. She replaced the broken zipper with a silver zipper with a large silver ring as a pull tab. It does not match the rest of the bag and looks terrible. I expressed my dissatisfaction and asked for the previous leather pull tab back so I could try and reattach it myself and she said she no longer had it. I was charged an additional $26, so nearly $60 total for her to ruin my bag. I asked for a partial refund and she refused saying, "if you wanted the zippers to match you should have said that when you dropped it off". It's evident that she was not equipped to do this repair. I wish she would have said she couldn't do it and returned my deposit to me so I couldn't have taken my bag elsewhere to get fixed. What really dumbfounded me was there was zero apology or attempt to rectify the situation. Needless to say I won't be ever going back here. What a joke.

In fact, I find it to be on par with most cleaners in the area, if not slightly higher. 2. The couple that runs the place are very friendly. They seem genuinely interested in helping you with your clothes and clothing issues. 3. They do the work here. Unlike some other cleaners who send their work out, I believe most (if not all) of Fresh-Up's cleaning and alterations are done in house. 4. Most items come back fairly quickly. It takes 2-3 days to get hemming and alterations back. 5. They do not take credit cards!!! They do take debit. 6. Everything I have had done here has been done well. At times it seems a bit expensive, but to have it done right is worth it.

I popped into Gibson Cleaners and was greeted right away. I told them what I wanted done and the girl at the counter was very friendly and made notes for everything. She took my phone number and asked if I would like a text when my jacket was finished. I think that's a great option. She also asked when I would like it by and next day was an option so I chose that as well. Next day I received a text saying my jacket was ready to be picked up. When I arrived I was able to pick it up quickly and easily and the cost for the Dry Cleaning and the repairs was less than $40. Pretty amazing. The only reason I won't give it 5 stars was that my jacket still had a lot of cat hair on it. I was hoping the cleaning would have removed it all but there was still a noticeable amount left. ...besides that I would use Gibson cleaners again.
