Excellent service. Great view. Romantic setting. A nice place to experience a view of São Paulo!…read moreMost of the food was good. I was unable to eat my order which was linguine with Sicilian lemon sauce and shrimp. I found it a very strange dish, especially for the price. There was a huge bowl of pasta and that with the sauce tasted fine. But the shrimp is what really ruined the dish for me. I did not understand the arrangement which was kind of messy considering where we were, and there was only one large shrimp with tail on and several tiny shrimp that were so over cooked and dry it was not pleasing at all. The staff noticed I could not eat the food and asked me so I told them the problem. They offered to make me another plate but the rest of the party had already finished. They offered me a dessert of my own voice so I did take that and ordered a cappuccino. Everyone else chose a dessert as well and was enjoyed by all and I really enjoyed my cappuccino. They did not charge the meal for me and gave me the dessert complimentary also. My recommendation is it is very worth going for the experience. My dish was the only disappointing one. I would definitely go back. Also, don't expect extremely fast service. This is a romantic setting and I feel you should take your time and enjoy the wait with those you are enjoying a meal with.

We came here to celebrate on Christmas Day. It's a pretty posh restaurant with expensive and…read moredelicious food, but the bar and customer service were not as good as the food sadly. I paid around 255 Brazilian reais for two lobster tails in an orange cream sauce with arugula risotto, and because of my medical condition, I could only eat about 25% of the meal. I asked to take the rest home and they refused to give it to me. Unbelievable! I wasted $38 U.S. (75% of the price) because I couldn't eat a larger portion. The bar was very frustrating as well. I asked for four or five different aperitifs, and they either didn't have the ingredients or only had well brands. I finally landed on a dirty, vodka martini, and the best vodka they had was Absolut. Nothing better than Absolut? Really? Then they put a "lemon twist" into my dirty martini instead of olives! I gave up on having a drink at all at that point. It just didn't go well that night for us. I was disappointed from my visit and won't return because I'm unable to take food home. That is discrimination because of my medical disability. They refuse to let anyone take any food home and they say it's for "health and hygiene" reasons. I call BS. The filet mignon with parmesan risotto was once in a lifetime delicious. The scallops were fantastic. The seared tuna was over cooked and dry. The lobster was just a tiny bit overdone, but fantastic. The grissini was really good, but the other breads were too dry and crumbly. I'm guessing that they added the normal amount of salt to the focaccia dough before baking, but it was just too much salt when they added the olives.

The decor looked similar to the Olive Gardens back home in terms of the seating and plates and menus and stuff. Food was similar, too. I was able to request an English menu, so that was nice because I don't know Portuguese. However, I wanted the unlimited soup and salad meal, and the server didn't really offer that to me. After requesting a soup and then a salad, I sat for a long time with my empty dishes... and no one ever came by again to ask if I wanted anything else. Did they not expect me to order any more food? I guess I'm a piggy that wanted more, and I really had to go bug someone to get another soup. All-in-all, it was okay, but not a fabulous experience. One of my soups was lukewarm and not piping hot, so that wasn't great, either. But beggars can't be choosers for a taste of home.

The waiter brought our bill and after we mentioned that the chicken was undercooked, the waiter left and came back and removed it from the bill without us asking to do so. He then proceeded to tear up the old receipt and crumple it up and leave it on the table. Luckily the waiter had a frown on his face the whole time from the moment we sat down to the time we left. Breadsticks were amazing! Come for the breadsticks, salad, and the music.

All you can eat Italian food at a mall? Really. Five stars? Really…read more First, the largest population of Italians outside of Italy just happens to be in São Paulo (larger than the population of Rome), and the Italian food here is quite good. Second, the freshness, the seasonal use of ingredients, and the quality of ingredients is quite superior. My wife came here for surgery, and ate here frequently as we rented a place in Higienopolis, and the reason was she could eat healthily on a regular basis, with plenty of vegetables, salad, and make her main meal here one that never bothered her stomach, never made her regret the meal, and with an ever changing main menu of hot dishes freshly prepared as well as rotating room temperature grilled vegetables, grilled tuna, cheeses, build your own salads, and all quality ingredients from carpaccio to prosciutto, a meal could be as lean or as opulent as one might desire depending on one's mood. It is a busy place, and because of the quality of the ingredients the price is comparative as one might expect, but I felt comparable to other local options for excellent cuisine as well. Being busy and in a mall, it is loud, and not easy to carry on a conversation two or three seats down from you, but still convivial and everybody can find something they like here from the foodie to the picky. We had a lovely Baden-Baden Red Ale there, and my wife's pineapple-mint juice was refreshing as well. Also, by being at a mall, it was a safe place to get into and out of. I can understand why some would write 3 or 4 stars, certainly it is an all you can eat Italian place in a mall. This said, after multiple visits, consistent quality, impeccable freshness, and good service, I can't turn my nose up at it because it is a buffet because you can get à la carte service as well, with desserts, pizzas, pasta and other dishes.

(Still) Run by the 94-year-old owner Mr. Trasso, Acropoles is a jewel in the middle of Bom Retiro, a clothes wholesale neighboorhood that gets busy during the week, and lonely during weekends (except by the restaurant). You'll probably not be impressed by the look, the comfort, lack of space, or even by the fact that your food is already prepared in the kitchen and you'll have to get up and go all the way there to pick your food with the cook. But trust me, this all adds up to the experience. And why then did you decide to come here? Yes, the amazing food. My personal favourites are the Moussaka, an eggplant and meat lazagna, will stay in your mind for a long time (kudos to the perfect touch of nutmeg); another classic are their Parmigian Shrimps, deep fried shrimps covered by a tomato and cheese sauce. And, if you get more people with you, why not sharing half of your plate with someone? Portions are big enough for you to try different plates. Acropoles is worth a dedicated visit to the neighboorhood. You might not be able to find a quick table if you have a big group -- if that's the case, ask for a drink in the sidewalk and enjoy the surroundings.
