When my mother died during open heart surgery at Christmas last year I had to hire someone to move…read moreher things to my home and close out her affairs. ideal Movers attempted to take advantage of this situation and charge me $5000 more than what was initially agreed upon after sending pictures to the broker and to the Movers plus having a three-way conference with Ideal Movers and the broker. In the conference, by both of them, I was told "Unless there is a golden calf in the living room your invoice will not increase." on several occasions I asked the broker to speak with the movers and I got the runaround and basically got one phone call an hour before they were supposed to be there from Ideal Movers. in this phone call before the movers even got to my mother's condo they were trying to hustle me for more money, talk over me, steamroll me and intimidate me. Once they were all there they stayed for three hours in their truck arguing with me and it went from bad to worse. They tried to con my uncle into signing an acceptance invoice that they would do the job for $6000 after I refused to pay $8000, and then tried to con me and into sending a text message that I canceled. They told me I would never see my deposit back from the broker and that they had other jobs the next day when they were supposed to be working in my mother's condo that weekend packing and loading their truck. At one point they attempted a $5542 proposal to take only one bedroom of furniture, a few Pyrex bowls and a coffee table. This moving company is a complete scam, the owner is in Israel and good luck reaching him. It is a felony to attempt to coerce and threaten a federal employee. They have been reported to the Better Business Bureau as it was such a traumatic and unprofessional experience rife with racketeering schemes to intimidate and extort money-- particularly out of women.

Over a week ago a worker came into house to estimate a price of a very small 2 bedroom with no appliances, nothing heavy, except a couch and a bed, lots of bins and boxes No stove, refrigerator, no washer or dryer. Everything is boxed and ready to go. The quoted price was nearly 4 grand Moving is stressful in itself when you are single with a disability. So sad to see people treat others like this! We had to leave our stuff in storage in NYS for 8 months due to Covid restrictions and Mabey's made this easy to do. Pricing for our move was quite reasonable. Helpful hint: The packing crew should absolutely number each box with a sharpie and record how many boxes in total are being shipped. We have the unsettling feeling at least one box got left behind in NYS. So 4 stars not 5.

Horrible experience. Before my move in 2021, the Maybe's Movers assured me they had never had…read moreproblems with damaged furniture and talked me out of adding extra insurance coverage. That turned out to be a huge mistake. The movers arrived and didn't speak to me or even made eye contact. When my furniture was delivered, I was shocked by the amount of damage. Several pieces of solid cherry furniture had dents, scratches, and gouges, and it appeared that little or nothing had been properly secured inside the truck. They broke a large umbrella holder and tossed it in the snow without telling me. They also damaged walls and put dents in my expensive front door while moving furniture through the house. My floor safe worked perfectly before the move, but afterward I had to destroy it just to get it open. They never explained why they refused to move a large computer desk or my matching Queen Anne recliners. They also failed to reconnect my convertible bed, leaving wires hanging out everywhere. Over the years I spoke with and emailed multiple employees, completed forms, and submitted photos multiple times. Each time I was told to resubmit documentation, and then I would hear nothing back. To this day I have not been reimbursed for any of the damages, which would supposedly be based on weight. This is by far the worst moving company I have ever dealt with. I would strongly caution anyone considering using them.

We had an in state move from the Albany area to Sullivan County and it proved to be a lot more difficult than originally planned. (This was totally on me.) We re-negotiated the original, very generously low price and were able to get a very tough move on the road. Once they got to my house, the crew got everything off their trucks, and were able to assemble the beds they brought, and got everything done that was possible to be done. They ended up leaving our new home very late, but they got everything done great. My partner are very thankful we found them and recommend their moving services to anyone in the Capital Region.

This was not a job with an arrival window, this was a scheduled appointment. When I said that's not acceptable because I took time off work for this small job and I still have to go into the office today, they said they didn't care. They are completely unprofessional, do not hire them. Edit: there is nothing rude about me saying that I don't care that you have a busy week because it's not an excuse for missing a 10am appointment. And telling me to have a nice weekend only indicates you aren't paying attention to your calendar and that you are an idiot for blaming me for missing your own scheduled appointment with a customer. You are unprofessional and unreliable. No one should hire you.
