Sports for learning provided a summer camp at my kids elementary school this summer. I was extremely disappointed by their coaches/counselors that were in charge of the children. First of all, I discovered that the counselors used profanity in front of the children, on a daily basis. Not only that, but when some of the kids started using inappropriate language, the coaches laughed and did not provide any guidance to stop this behavior. I only found out about this after several weeks,, when some of the children mentioned it to me and some of the other parents. When I brought it to the attention of the school district and the regional manager, they finally brought out supervisors to address it. Unfortunately the kids were already exposed to so much inappropriate language by then. The "sports" aspect of the program was not very educational or coordinated. The kids didn't really learn any rules of the games or improve any skills. It was basically just having them run around during these activities. In addition, at least one of the coaches contracted COVID during the camp and many kids were exposed to it. I honestly do not know how many contracted it, but it was very irresponsible for the counselors to put themselves at risk for, and catching Covid, especially when caring for elementary school children. I know many families who did not remain in the camp, due to the poor experience that our kids had with their coaches. I'm sure they have some good employees working for them who might have good backgrounds in caring for kids. But be sure to evaluate the counselors that are being used at each individual location. This camp was a mess. My sons were at the camp 2 days in the summer of 2021 at their elementary school and I had to pull them. Aside from not caring about covid protocols that we were told were put in place, they let the kids eat inside and smushing them together under the awning to eat other times, they didn't care at all when I brought it to their attention. The counselors didn't act appropriately around these young kids and used inappropriate language. Keep in mind this is an elementary school. These kids are very young. They were more like drill sergeants than camp counselors. It was an awful experience. read more

my daughter started working as a "coach" and what a joke that was. She knew nothing about sports but as she started working found out that few employees also did not know about how to play the games, much less about the rules. Kids just run around with no organization. The children, usually very young get out of school and instead of having a meeting place for the children to gather, they are out of sorts and race all over the place and do not listen to whistles or calls to gather together. Some of the rules are ludicrous. i.e. if a child wants to hold your hand that is a no no! WHAT are you teaching them? So you think every movement has a sexual meaning? Grow up. The children have parents who work and it is nice for them to be with someone who is caring. RULES do not even make sense. what kind of a gestapo camp are you running? Not so nice. These kids want to be around caring people not cold robots who will be called before the board if they show any emotion. God forbid if a child holds out his hand and you have to reject them because there are RULES. There are no "Sports for Learning". I coached sports for many years and never did we have such a meaningless program. The kids today learn more about sports and sportsmanship outside of your inadequate program. In the past couple of weeks there is not one kid who has learned about games, sports or good manners, They don;t listen to the coaches when they get to the program. REMEMBER THE RULES..DON'T TOUCH THE KIDS JUST LET THEM RUN AROUND AND ACT HOWEVER THEY FEEL LIKE IT OR WE WILL BE IN TROUBLE . Since we can't even hold hands to gather the group maybe they should be put on a leash! read more

My son really enjoyed his week at C2C soccer camp, he wanted to play more soccer every day, even though he had just played for 5 hours! The Irish coaches are awesome and really great with the kids. Mason really like Fiona, she was very positive and encouraging. We hope they will offer an after school enrichment at our elementary! read more

My son enjoyed Coast2Coast soccer camp for the first time this Summer in Redondo Beach. A few days were rough for him because the camp is long and he is only 5. Also, the lack of shade made it hard for the kids to cool off. Also, my son lost a tooth at camp during fruit break. Coach Kevin called me immediately to let me know what happened. My son loves soccer but I couldn't find any summer camp for soccer. I gave it a try this year and it was a big success! My five-year old boy loved it. Not only about so many gifts he got (jersey, ball, certificate, etc), but he also enjoyed running with bigger kids (he definitely loved the challenge!) and learning new skills. My son absolutely loved his week of soccer camp. The coaches were very professional and knew how to deal with different ages as a group. Kids were taught some different techniques and were allowed to goof off as well as learn. The days were very organized and the coaches were extremely hands on. Kids were constantly doing something leaving no room for boredom causing misbehavior as I've witnessed at some practices or camps. My daughter just completed the after school program at Portola Hills Elementary. The coach for the first 3 sessions was late every time, between 5-10 minutes. Even the kids would comment on it, yelling, "you're late AGAIN!" as he would arrive. After the first 3 weeks we were told that the previous coach wouldn't be coming anymore, the new coach was also late often. Shirts were not given until after the session was over; they were mailed to our home the following week. I find it odd that they were not given shirts during the first or second session so they could use them during play. Finally, my daughter was just one of two girls in the group of about ten children. It was difficult for the girls to get much ball time because, let's face it, the boys just are more aggressive and have different abilities than girls do. I wouldn't recommend this program as a first introduction to the sport but if you just want to give your kid something to do for an hour after school then it's sufficient. read more

My 10 year old is a strong and avid soccer player, not easy to please when it comes to soccer camps. And we've tried many! His experience with Coast 2 Coast (Santa Monica) is far and away the best. Unlike many camps which focus solely on drills, C2C combines creative games and scrimmages for a uniquely fun soccer experience! The coaches are extremely positive and encouraging, creating an environment where both beginners and experienced, competitive players can be appropriately challenged, learn new skills and just have a really fun time. Wonderful camp and soccer coaches! Both my boys, ages 7 and 9, who are soccer fanatics loved it!! Like others have mentioned, they played from 9am-2pm and just wanted to play more when I picked them up. I was very impressed with the drills these coaches had the kids work on in the mornings, and then the 'World Cup' games in the afternoons. Hosting a family fun afternoon on the last day was also a great idea. The enthusiasm my kids had for this camp was impressive as is their eagerness to go back. My son has done this camp two years in a row and this summer will be his third year. He loves it. He did his first camp when he was 4.5 years old and I was very nervous about leaving him but the C2C coaches were so great and VERY safety-minded. They have great protocol with regard to pick up and bathroom breaks (no child goes alone to the park's public restroom building - they all go, at least for the younger ones). The Coaches are warm and funny and really have a way with getting the kids to listen. They put the kids through fun drills that improve their skills. The last day of camp they hold "World Cup" and parents come to play with the kids. It's a lot of fun. I registered him for 2 weeks of camp this year with C2C. I wish we could have added more but our schedule didn't allow it. We will be hosting a coach from Ireland this year and are looking forward to it. All the coaches seem very warm, respectful and fun. They all appear to really enjoy coaching the kids. I wish they had more camps in Carmel Valley - we'd do them all! read more

All my guests - and most importantly, my 6-year old daughter - couldn't stop talking about what an AMAZING party this was. I called C2C when my original party plans at the California Science Center fell through - see not-so-favorable review on Yelp - one week before the party. Were it not for Nick at C2C, we might have had to cancel my daughter's birthday. Not only was Nick personal and engaging on the phone, he followed up with me - exactly as promised - and quoted me a very reasonable price to have a coach work with the kids for approximately 90 minutes at the location of my choice. I live in West LA. C2C sent me Shane who was simply wonderful! He showed up on time and with all the needed equipment - cones, soccer balls etc. He organized the kids, ran around with them, and kept them laughing and playing for 90 minutes with different soccer drills and games. The parents were thoroughly entertained and could relax as they watched their kids having fun. At the end of the soccer play, Shane presented my daughter with the coolest looking soccer ball as a birthday present. She never played soccer before but had a great time. She loved her new soccer ball and the next morning when she woke, went right over to that ball, smiled from ear to ear, and started to kick it around. She and I have great memories from a fabulous party. Several friends have already asked for Shane's contact information. I have no hesitation in recommending the services of C2C Soccer.
