I didn't like various aspects of the store however including the music (it was too loud compared to other stores, but JD Sports do have the tendencies to put DJ's in their stores which is wild, unwelcomed and bonkers but wasn't the case on this occasion), I also found the store to be a little cramped, it followed no particular layout, you could look and see football shirts to your left and something totally irrelevant/different to the other side, compared to other stores which have specific marked sections of the store which is an approach I find more comfortable and like better. A good brand for a city like Sheffield to have in its city centre, and it for sure is better than the Meadowhall branch but not my much - let down by the poor store layout which makes it in some ways feel like a totally different store to other JD branches and music - I feel this store is only deserving of a "high" two-star rating.

Sports Direct on High Street in Sheffield city centre was a fairly disappointing branch of the…read moresportswear retailer on a recent visit, it is located fairly close to Halifax Bank under a slight tunnel. This is one of the old-fashioned type stores, you have to enter through stairs or an old mobility lift. The selection in the store was okay, it wasn't really what you would expect from the main city centre though, in terms of size and selection, it reminded me a lot of a Sports Direct branch you'd see in a small town or their Manchester Market Street store which is earmarked for closure (the second branch they have in Manchester city centre) The staff didn't seem too outgoing or willing to help. This store seems to be in a different league to the Meadowhall branch nearby, which is much larger and more modern, it kind of feels like the divide in Sheffield at the moment, with the Meadowhall branch being Premier League side Sheffield United, and this branch being Sheffield Wednesday of the Championship (You're welcome blades). Much need for improvement in most factors. 1*

"Oh Crikey", those were the words which went through my head on a recent visit to this JD Sports…read morelocation here in the Meadowhall Shopping Centre of Sheffield. From the outside, it looks like a pretty general, average JD Sports store, but I was truly shocked by the store. Firstly, like Footasylum elsewhere in the mall, a company I found out who is owned by JD, they had a live DJ in the store, I for one hated this, I don't mind a little music while shopping, but this was far too extreme, I couldn't last in the store for more than a few minutes without getting a headache, and it seemed to be booming through the mall and you could even hear it on the mall floor and in nearby stores, it honestly felt like I was in some sort of nightclub or concert, with god awful music playing, not a store hoping to pick up some sports-gear. The staff in the store seemed friendly enough, however. I didn't like the queuing area, it was too cramped, small and narrow and I can't see how it would cope during busy, peak periods. The product range was average again, there were some good deals, but other JD Sports have stood out more for me in terms of overall feel and selection. Poor overall feel and a below average to average nature of everything else in the store really lets me down. I'm sad to mark my 1000th time I've been first to review the business here with a single one-star rating.
