Sports Direct is the only shop I know of that never has any of its items at full price. Every item in the shop is discounted from one week to the next. I'm sure all their price tags are just sale price tags -- they have no normal tags. Everything's 40, 50, 60, 70 per cent off!!!!!!! So, just make it cheap, mebbe?
The Sports Direct in the Bullring is also the only shop in the Bullring that tries to stuff three stores worth of merchandise into one store.
The place is always so stuffed to the gills; trying to navigate it is literally like trying to walk through a crowded dance floor. Two steps shuffled forward, excuse me, pardon me, pause, three steps forward. It's not nearly as fun as the Cha Cha, either.
But Sports Direct has the largest stock of any sports item you need: hockey, golf, football (soccer), badminton, croquet, you name it, it's here, and inevitably, discounted. Anything sports related anyone could ever need will be found in the Bullring Sports Direct.
However, if you can't find what you're looking for, may I suggest that you simply leave and look elsewhere? The staff at this SD are the rudest, most impolite and least customer-service-orientated bunch I've ever encountered.
I've been in this shop about a dozen times, and have yet, even once, ever had a staff member look me in the eye. Firstly, they normally tell you that they are busy helping another customer, and can't help you. Then you watch in disbelief as they saunter back to their fellow employees and resume their chat. Or wait, embarassed, while they actually do help another customer, taking 20 minutes to find one pair of shoes.
The tills are an absolute nightmare. It seems to be Sports Direct's policy to only hire employees who are either incredibly rude, or incredibly slow and incompetent. They spend more time worrying about where customers are queuing up than they do scanning merchandise and checking people out quickly and efficiently.
They are constantly telling customers, "Don't queue generally, queue at a specific till, there are lots open," or "My queue is really busy, why don't you find another one?", even if you are only the second person waiting.
If you are in a hurry, shop elsewhere. It will, without fail, take ten minutes to check out, no matter how few items you are buying. You will not be looked in the eye, thanked or interacted with, but merely stared at with malevolent evilness or glassy-eyed cattle confusion.
I love Sports Direct! read more
