The two guys who pulled the short straw and had to man the evening shift were full of banter, and once we'd spent the first hour exploring the whole arena, set up two team games for my ultra-competitive friends and me. The whole night was hilarious, and exhausting in equal measure. A great way to celebrate my 30th birthday!

Its a good size, however, has spacious playing fields, a good play ground, tennis courts and nice woodland walks at the eastern end. The Parks department do their usual excellent job of the floral displays. Its quieter than West Park and a great alternative when an event is on there. The Council have plans to redevelop the park, including reinstating the clock in the tower - it would be nice to see this park approaching its intended glory.

The changing rooms have recently been refurbished and so are very nice and clean. There are areas to spectate over the swimming pool and there is also a smaller swimming pool for school children in groups, or mother and baby groups or the lower class of swimming groups. There are many different times for different classes of swimmers, they offer lane swimming, ladies swimming, school swimming and mother and baby swimming. The staff and lifeguards are really helpful and friendly no matter what level you are at.
