This is one of those reviews I'm almost loathe to share for fear we won't be able to get seating when we next come, but I can't not share our wonderful experience with Settecentro. Emanuele and everyone at the restaurant was unbelievably friendly, thoughtful, and accommodating; we felt as welcome in their restaurant as we would in the home of old friends even though we headed up a large group of somewhat boisterous youth. I am terrible with remembering names, otherwise I would thank each and every one of them personally here. From start to finish, I'm so glad we chose Settecentro. Reservation/prenotazione: We had about 40 diners in our group, so I made our reservation by email from overseas hoping that it would work out. We had a couple very minor hiccups getting in touch and understanding each other completely (language barrier! Il mio Italiano no e buona!) during the email process but when we arrived at 7 pm for dinner, they had arranged everything to perfection. Service/servizio: I had forgotten to request a specific seating arrangements but that was ok! They had read my mind and given us exactly what we wanted: a large area of the second floor, with a variety of table sizes. We set a smaller limited menu to simplify service but I'm not even sure that was needed because they were perfect: as soon as orders were taken for each table, the orders were delivered to the kitchen and by the time our table (last) gave our orders, the antipasti and primi piatti were being served to the first tables. Some may not like that sort of arrangement but when you have a group of 40+ diners, making everyone wait to eat at the same time means you eat cold or lukewarm food. Instead, we all enjoyed piping hot and delicious food as if we were dining separately, with the benefit of having our group taken care of together. I can think of many restaurants where we have no language barrier that simply cannot handle this. We never felt like we were an imposition. Despite how busy they were, they took care of us and their other dining guests impeccably. They weren't servile which would have been weird, they were just genuinely good at their jobs. The Dinner/La Cena: Sorprendente! Just wonderful. We all ordered a variety of food and I can't think of a single item that was disappointing. They served multiples of the same dishes on the same platters, which confused us at first, but we just treated it sort of family style and it worked wonderfully. The prices were very reasonable for the excellent quality of the food and the staff were very helpful trying to accommodate the mix of drink orders (all naturale acqua, wine for this person but not that person), and took the time to write down pricing for us when we were confused as we didn't use the regular menus. In addition to the set menu we had agreed on, they also offered the daily fish special which was wonderful as well. I didn't get to taste the dessert but I know it was perfect because the friends who were sharing it gobbled it all up in less than 15 seconds! :) The torta di fragole, I think, and the marscapone cake: you can't go wrong. Summary/Riassunto: I cannot stress enough how welcomed we felt, and how much we appreciated the wonderful experience here. They even impressed our eldest dining friend who has many long years of experience dining out: she's already planning her next meal there! (And so am I...) In fact, we may have to return tonight to sample more of their delicious food!
