This Halloween home haunt is an atmospheric joy. The night we visited was perfect- a cool autumn…read morenight with clouds moving slowly across a mad eye moon. The house itself is perfectly nestled in what I imagined could be a quiet New England neighborhood. As you approach, you see the silhouettes of gravestones through fog and spooky green and purple lighting. Calliope music and a child's soft voice wafts towards you and you catch movement in the graveyard. Coming closer you see the "child" and you clearly hear her cautioning you. The front yard is used to great advantage as it curves around the house, with such attention to detail, from the skeletons on their eternal carousel ride, complete with the creepy ear worm worthy circus music, the ornaments on the tree, and an actual child (the haunter's daughter) surreally caps the display by meandering around the graves before heading to the tree swing to play in the cemetary. The front porch transports you to an episode out of the Twilight Zone. A cadaverous mother rocks her dead child to sleep under an antique lamp, near a broken TV while an old clock's hands spin out of time in a wash of blue light. There is also a sound activated knive-wielding masked nurse that is offering COVID tests. Which is easily the scariest part of this 2020 Halloween season.

The famous "Murder House" from American Horror Story is located in Los Angeles and is great fun to…read moresee. The Murder is really the Rosenheim Mansion. Rosenheim built the mansion in 1908 to live in his wife. In around 1930 Edward Everett Horton lived there. The Sisters of Social Service then took over the mansion in 1930, using it as a convent and adding a chapel to the building in 1932. Around 1999/2000 the site was declared a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument. It was beautiful and still is in its own right. It was later sold in 2015 for about 3 million, which was a huge price cut from its initial offering. There was a lawsuit against the sellers agent for never disclosing that the property was featured on American Horror Story. Fans of the TV show stated going to it and this made the owners just a tad upset. It is now Murder House. You can now up to walk Murder House and take photos of the beautiful mansion and the area greenery. It is about an hour of fun. I had read that some can walk though it, but I did not see anyway to do that.

For 2019 the experience starts before you even walk in, with an overwhelming amount of decorations…read more Skeletal birds in cages, so many pumpkins, a chalk outline of a corpse surrounded by every weapon from Clue, a spooky witch's apothecary stand, and several costumed horrors keeping the folks in queue scared while they wait to enter. When you do make your way inside, you're greeting with old portraits and slowed down creepy music. Through the dim corridors you'll find a giant spider with glowing eyes, and a medical lab of torture, among other fiends and friends. The whole thing is only about one and a half minutes, but the final room really leaves an impression.

Oh my gosh so fun! Such a different escape room to what I've normally been to. The fact that there…read moreare live actors included in some of the rooms here really add to the fun! That entrance too is super cool and really unique. The parking lot in front is very small so some of our group had to park at the streets. It can be hard to spot but luckily I had a couple of friends that have gone to one of the escape rooms here before. I feel like the employees inside are very go-go-go! So make sure you arrive for your appointment on time. They direct you to the bathroom inside too and the theming of it all is amazing. Not what you would expect from the outside. We were able to do the Courtyard room and it was like we were in a set. I was very amazed by the detail and the props, and of course so proud of the group I was with because we were able to pass the room (despite a 20% success rate!). The story threw me off at first but after researching on the website after the escape room, I understand now that we did the last chapter of the journey. LOL oops! Nontheless we all had so much fun and you are really immersed and sucked into the story. I think that I would love to come here again but there is a pretty big price point that you have to be okay spending (weekdays it was like 43-46$. I really appreciate the high quality camera they use and a unique background for a nice group photo to capture the memories. Would be cool to have props photo booth style but it's okay, definitely a more formal and really detailed escape room. Highly recommend!! PS Lockers for phones and stuff to place are in the lobby but it's secured with a key that one of the group members keep.

This was my first escape room I've been to and I was super nervous. I get in my head when I don't…read moreknow what to expect. The staff was super friendly and helpful when I asked questions. Getting inside the building was interesting; turns out, there is a puzzle to solve! Once inside, we sat down, waited for the rest of our friends then signed the waiver. Thankfully, they did have a bathroom we could use ahead of time. Once we got our initial instructions from the staff member, we went into a room and received more instructions on a screen. The basement is a very immersive room, the cast member who was part of it did an amazing job! I'm so sad I can't remember her name, she truly was a delight! She even reassured me at the beginning when I was freaking out. We managed to escape with about 6 minutes left, I wish I had taken exact note of how much time. We took a celebratory picture and then I got some merch, a t shirt saying I escape the basement and one of the enamel pins. Me and my friends came to celebrate a birthday and I think we will be back in November for another friend's birthday to do the next room! I'm gonna buy a new enamel pin each time we win, I think. Definitely looking forward to coming back! Couple tips: come in one car, the lot is very small and there was only one spot left when we got there and our friends had to park farther away. For the celebratory picture, make sure to look at the right spot and fix your hair beforehand lol. Lastly, bring cash to tip the staff members! They deserve it for being so awesome! Oh, and be kind to them, I shouldn't have to say this, but I will. They are fellow humans playing characters.

If you're viewing this, read this first: GET HERE EARLY…read more Now, onto my review. This is the first year of this experience and I have to say, it was fun. Definitely worth it if you live in the area nearby. Getting here early is key as there will be plenty of covered parking. Understand there's three mazes which is perfect for small groups. What I like most is that your entire group (1-5) can go together or you can split up. You won't walk with strangers so this makes an enjoyable experience with boos and scares. Each maze will take as long as it takes you. I would say, no more than 12 mins to walk through each maze. You'll stand in que after each maze is complete. Also, plan to wear shoes that you don't mind getting dirty as you're walking on dirt. If there's any complaint I have, that would be it. Thankfully, I always think ahead, so I had emailed them and got a quick response that I should wear shoes I wouldn't mind getting dirty. They were right! My shoes were VERY dusty after this experience. Portable bathrooms are located throughout the maze que so there's plenty of opportunity if you should need these.

We thought we were going to fall asleep in between because it was taking so long. The good thing is it's about 4 hours so if you go early enough, you just MIGHT get out before midnight. They also have food trucks and outhouses right next to the lines so you can stop by and eat/use the RR beforehand (or after).
