Our family has been attending The Spooky Empire conventions twice a year since 2015. We felt instantly like we finally found our people, our Spooky Family. Spooky Empire has something for everyone. Horror movie celebrity meet & greets & autograph opportunities, photo ops and panels. Fantastic music with approximately 5+ Musical Acts playing each weekend, film festivals, hundreds of vendors for everyone to support small businesses, tattoos and so much more!!! I had attended Spooky in 2023 and it was AMAZING. The hotel was perfect for a convention of this magnitude. The one that I went to today was less than impressive. The hotel- the doubletree, was gross and small. People had to stand outside of the hotel in the heat waiting for the venue to start. That is deplorable when you host something in Florida in June. Do better next time, Spooky. read more

we had gotten in around 1:30 pm on sunday to get in line to meet David Howard Thorton. it was 4:40 and the staff had told us he was signing till 5 PM. The staff had told us we would make it in before he left. there was maybe 10-15 people left around 4:40 and the staff came out and told us they were cutting us off and that he wasn't signing anymore and that this was the deci of the manager not David. We wasted our day waiting in line to not even meet David. I requested reimbursement from the con and received nothing for wasting our time. They obviously have no regard for their customers and make promises they cannot keep. I am overall disappointed and frustrated with this event and will not be attending next year. read more

They don't care about their patrons. Paid for a VIP package and was treated like absolute dirt by staff and security. They over sell their tickets inflating attendance and causing an overcrowded, overbooked and overall terrible experience. We need a better horror convention. One that will honor their fans and patrons for all of the support they provide instead of kicking them in the balls for entering their shitty convention. read more

We spent a lot of money on tickets for this event but we cant get in due to poor planing on the promotors side. We can not find parking after waiting for over an hour. We have missed at least one panel we wanted to see. We have been to Spooky Empire before and it's ok. This year is garbage. We will not be attending this event ever again. Not a single person who can read thinks your event is any way connected to Spookala. Having attended both events, and recognizing they both have their own strengths- I will no longer support Spooky Empire after their outright bullying with a frivolous legal filing against another convention. Instead of celebrating horror as something that brings us together, Spooky has made it very clear that they are only in it for the money and can't have that threatened by a competitor. read more

My first time coming here just make sure you bring money for parking it's $10 per car and the ticket to get in is pricy $57 for a one day ticket. I liked seeing all the cosplayers and the seeing the different vendors for the merch! The photo op was $80 to see Eduardo Franco from stranger things and then a separate charge for an autograph $60 beside the expensive prices I did have a good time for my first horror convention!!! read more

I paid for VIP & Millie package. Halfway through Saturday I was accused of stealing. I let security check my bag, nothing stolen was found in it. I offered to show receipts as proof that I purchased multiple items from different vendors/shops. Security REFUSED to let me show my receipts then took off my VIP & Millie Lanyard passes. I was 100% cooperative & was willing to leave even though they had 0 evidence or proof against me. I just asked to be able to keep the passes that I PAID for as a souvenir. I was told I couldn't have them. Security then said it was because I could go back in & they would take my wristband if I had one. I was naive and too trustworthy, I showed that I indeed still had it on. All I wanted was to be able to defend myself & talk to the vendor/shop owners to clear this up. Security took a box cutter to my wristband. I cooperated and left the property. I called Spooky Empire & they said they believed me, I could come back. Then they called back & said I wasn't allowed to come back. They said it was for the safety of the shop/booth owners and I couldn't defend myself or show proof of my purchases. This hurt as I thought I was friendly with booth/shop owners. I even messaged them on social media so we could clear things up. The shop/booth owners found my receipts on their end and vouched for me being innocent. Spooky Empire still told me I couldn't come back. So I paid for VIP tickets and was kicked out with no proof against me, even had booth/shop owners say I was innocent, yet I missed multiple events that I paid for. I flew out for this event and to be treated like this is not okay to me. Spooky Empire won't even admit their mistake. I've given them awhile to apologize and try to make things right but they apparently don't care at all. I'm not saying this was because I'm Mexican, but I don't know why I would be denied showing proof of my innocence and just kicked out. They wouldn't check the cameras at location either. read more

Last vear for spooky that's for sure it has only been going down hill since 2019 and this year was the last straw. You pay extra for vip and can't even use it for Millie, than she won't sign ANYTHING with eggo or Coca Cola, we ask for a refund spooky would not provide it or care, we finally get through the HORRENDOUS LINE and she wouldn't even sign in paint pen that we brought! So now we got two pops not at all like we wanted and paid 500 for what a terrible experience and a terrible item. What do you pay the extra money for if they can't accommodate you!? Me, my fiancé and our friends will be telling everyone who even has a slight interest in going to spooky to avoid it at all cost cause it IT IS NOT WORHT IT. read more

I've never seen a more disorganized and poorly run convention. It was all great until we arrived. No security whatsoever...which was shocking considering the size of the convention and big-name guest appearances. No food trucks...there was very limited food choices inside other than basic sandwiches which were hiked up to $15 a pop and snacks. I mean, most cons have hot dog stands outside or food trucks. Staff members were horribly rude, it was worse than the DMV. Lines were herded like cattle and not set up very well, so no one had any idea where to wait for autographs or photograph ops. I had won a Twitter contest for Gillian Anderson and despite the con retweeting the contest, no one had any idea what the contest was about and kept saying I had to buy an autograph ticket or get back in line or etc. That panels were also riddled with technical difficulties, from the projectors not working to the mics not working. They also oversold the event, which led to attendees being rushed through expensive photo ops and autographs, not allowing attendees to get anything customized. Some being able to do poses and some not. They presold autographs only to have them being sold at the tables anyways. There was also a riot for the Elvira pop figures as people waited hours in line only for them not to be available on time and resulted in police being called. When I checked in, I was standing there before one of the staff rudely pointed to the VIP sign when I asked if this was the VIP check-in. I heard the VIP party was underwhelming as well. It's doubtful that I'd attend another one of their events since I'm in California and I only came for the X-Files guests, but wow. It's been a few days now and I'm STILL waiting for digital images sent by Froggy's Studios, their photography company. When you pay for a digital image, it's usually available almost immediately. It's already been several days. UPDATE: I got 2 out of 3 photos so far. I received one photo that wasn't mine, but luckily I knew who it belonged to. I'm still waiting on one more photo almost a week later. Several people have received photos for other people and you have to wonder if they're even trying at this point. read more

I went to the first day of Spooky Empire and it was fantastic. There was not a lot of people so I had plenty of time to check out the clothes and other trinkets. I brought an amazing outfit that I will wear tomorrow. And my friends brought headbands and lamps. Also there still was a lot of people dressed in amazing costumes. I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings. There are a lot of booths set up, with everything from the simple to the really scary. Yes they also have tattoo booths sit up and different stars signing and taking pictures. Did I mention Jason was there. He is one of my favorite villains. I like all of his movies. They also had good food, I enjoyed the 1/4 white chicken with garlic mashed potatoes and mac & cheese. It was very filling. So if you have not boxed your Halloween costume put it on and come out and have fun one more time. read more

I received free admission tickets to the Spooky Empire from Yelp. I had no idea what to expect since I had never been to anything like this. My husband goes to Mega Con every year with some friends but I had never been. He said it would be similar. This event was held at the Doubletree by Universal Orlando. I over heard while we were there, that this was the last year it would be held there. My husband and I had a great time and we will go again. I gave it only 4 because of the location. We pulled up to the hotel not knowing where to park. The valet guys were not much help, which is more of the hotel issue then the event. We were completely unsure of where to park. They would not let us into the hotel parking because we were not staying there. I really wish that the event had parking information on their website or signs at the actual hotel. There is a small shopping center next door with all kinds of signs stating our car would be towed if we parked there. We finally found a spot which was extremely far from the hotel but it was set up for the event attendees to park. Parking was $10 which I thought was a little high when it was not even close to the actual event. Again that was not necessarily the event's fault but they could have worked with the hotel. Once we were inside, it was very crowded but we could still get around easy enough. I think that this event was smaller then some others such as Mega Con and Walker Stalk Convention. There was different stand selling various items such as; comic books, posters, movies, tee-shirts and my favorite dog collars. We bought a Doctor Who and Labyrinth for our dogs, which I thought was pretty neat since they were very unique. I had thought that there would be more to look at and more booths then there was. They also had some meet and greets with various celebrities. We were able to meet Ernie Hudson and Kathy Najami. I thought this was very cool and once in a lifetime thing. These you had to pay for, various prices depending of what you wanted, autograph or picture. They also had a burlesque show which was nothing what we expected. I knew what a burlesque show was but this one had a unique theme. It was more edgy and different, just not your typical show. It was quite interesting, especially watching a woman have various people staple 20 dollar bills to her body! All in all it was enjoyable. It seemed that many of the people had known the actors in the show, some of them knowing them very well. The final room was a big room full of tattoo artists. We did not go in at all because it was not something we enjoy or want. I think that this was an interesting event. I am very thankful we got free tickets. We will mostly likely go back to it again next time. My husband really enjoys the horror films and movies so it was nice to be able to go to this with him since I do not like to watch those type of movies. I don't think this event would be good for kids because I think that some of the attendees dress in ways that children do not need to see. I think it is much better for adults. Spooky Empire teamed up with Mayhem to bring the thrills and chills this spring. It was the first time I've been able to attend the con, so I took advantage of the opportunity. The con is geared towards Horror fans and Haunt afficinados,a place to network your haunt and how to make it better. It had a huge draw among those who love the TV show Once Upon a Time, as their GoH was to be Lana Parilla. I didn't even know who she was, until I saw her - and her crew standing next to me and Nix Herrara at the VIP bar. There was a large vendor's area with some great merchandise. Things varied from corsets to coffee, from make up to window decals. There were collectible figurines and one of a kind art pieces. One of the most memorable items that I recall was a GROOT planter. The guy sold out of those very quickly. Pendants and posters were everywhere. There were panels on everything from:What's going to happen in Sunnydale (Probably not, since that's Buffy) to What's going on at Halloween Horror Nights 25, in which Michael Aielo decided to tell us about the character CROW who never made it off the drawing board, but everyone in the room agreed he should have (or still should) The panels on What Haunts can learn from theme parks, and Interactive Haunts were my favorite. Perhaps because I'm a haunt actor and they were helpful to me. I loved hearing about The Vault of Souls, and what is planned. I had a ticket for the entire weekend, on a VIP pass. let me say that I'm not sure that it was worth it for the extras I got. A t-shirt, a bit of a jump on getting my badge and the "party" which to me was a bit of a let down - other than the fact that I got to demonstrate my massage skills on a vendor or two - and they really needed it. The nights were dominated by pool parties with people in costumes, dancing and drinking. Mermaids in the pool and Trolls with giant phalluses rampaging around the dance floor. It was an exciting weekend. I'm glad to be home though. Will I go back? Probably. read more

I am black and probably run into 10 other black people the whole show. NOW they are woke? Ya kidding? lol Black people DO NOT LIKE DRAG QUEENS! Raving reviews are from vendors/face painters/volunteers. This year they jumped the shark by adding a drag show. Usually there is an evening party. This year they got on the even MORE work bandwagon. If you asked a reason why this whole community called you names and told you not to come. WELL you already paid for VIP/hotels and merchandise. one week before the show they announce their decide agenda. We go here to escape this nonsense. I am sick of hearing about men dressing as women EVERY SINGLE DAY but the "SPOOKY FAMILY" will say its the SAME as halloween costumes. BS! That is NOT what drag is. Now we have men dressed as nuns mocking our religions... but WE are called HATEFUL. Can't get a refund. Had to call the bank to report the reason. Hey I get it, capitalism. Never again wll I spend a penny with people that hate me. If you are a vendor good luck, you are just paying the owners bills or they would have WARNED you they are coming for you kids. First year I can't bring my kids. We will just go across the street to a well organized and entertaining . All my spooky items will be on ebay by next week. I had an awesome time at Spooky Empire! This was my first year going, so I am not sure what it was like at the other hotel locations, but I think the Hyatt Regency Orlando was a perfect spot! The entire convention area was nice and spread out, which seemed to be an improvement from past years according to other convention goers. There were lots of really neat vendors selling unique items, as well as movie posters and t-shirts. The celebrity autograph room was nicely laid out, and I just had the time of my life meeting the cast from Scream! Woohoo!! I also went to the Scream panel on the last day, and the room had plenty of seating, the sound was great, and the moderator did a great job of keeping the conversation going. The pricing for the convention is very fair - I bought a Sunday ticket only originally at $30, but decided last minute that I wanted to go all 3 days. They were able to upgrade my ticket right on the spot, and even honored the pre-sale rate since I bought my original ticket during the time frame. It ended up being $65 for all 3 days, which I thought was a great value. I will definitely be back to Spooky Empire!!! read more

Staff is wonderful and full of knowledge about everything. The volunteers go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that the guests get what they need.
